Taboo genres in games

Hey there,

I've seen many posts regarding whether or not something like incest should be implemented in future games etc. My personal opinion about this is, mostly everyone has or had normal sex in real life. It's always the same and It'll never change. I personally see both, real sex and digital stuff in completely different ways and I do enjoy both, except real porn which I don't like. So firstly, digital games especially with those taboo settings gives us something "interesting" from a very different perspective. You see many fantasy and monster stuff too of course which isn't bad but apart from incest as instance, it's something too far away from real life which is the crunchpoint here. It's something we'll never want to see in real life of course, but that's also the point what makes those settings interesting. And that's also why people rather support more games with those settings overall. Of course, aside from the settings, the most important thing at least for me is the story. There are some talented writers out there and I absolutely enjoy reading their stuff. Also what I wanted to mention, some stuff which happens in games are much better than a similar situation which happens in RL. As instance, when I entered few years ago a strange club with a friend of mine, a half naked not bad looking woman came and spluttered right into his mouth. He spluttered back and she gave him a french kiss after that whilst her husband was on his knees right behind her. I just thought jesus christ the fuck is going on... and even though it might sound sexy, it was not, at least not for me.

Tl;dr: Supporting interesting and 'good' stories with taboo stuff in it is not a bad thing.

Ps: I'm sorry for my bad english... I've changed some mistakes. I hope it's understandable.

I think it's the taboo content, that makes porn games and comics successful. Otherwise they couldn't compete with "regular" porn, such as movies and pictures. People who just want to see a quick sex scene, usually use YouPorn instead of playing a game.

Yes and no.
A video won't give you the interaction a videogame can (and should). I think there's more to it than just the taboo thing.

That's true. As I mentioned, the most important thing in my opinion is the story and content itself. Fortunately, there are many talented writers out there. But I also think, even if you start out as a amateur, you have a big chance to improve yourself massively with these kind of things.

I kinda agree with you,i can pick up a girl if i want for some vanilla sex BUT there are certain fetishes namely incest that i cant experience (for obvious reasons) irl and taboo games give me my perverted fix.

Humans have a long history of doing things when we are told we can't. We seem to have to innate desire to push boundaries and go against the grain. Even if you don't buy the story of Adam and Eve, the lesson is that we can't follow rules. Something about being told it's forbidden can make us even more interested in it. I'm not saying this is a good trait, but it seems to be part of who we are. Most of us are sensible enough to not do things that are illegal or things that would cause harm to others. Still, somewhere in the back of our minds we wonder what it would be like if we did. So we are drawn to media with depictions of things we know we shouldn't do. Whether it be novels, movies, or porn games. My personal philosophy is that there is nothing wrong with indulging fetishes in fiction. As long as nobody was harmed and no laws were broken to indulge it, then who cares?

Absolutely. You seem to have a healthy ideology, which is also kinda rare these days unfortunately. As long as the human being doesn't cross the taboo line on his brain which includes all the crazy stuff for getting jailed, it's good. A healthy human being is someone who knows where he must stand and where his limits are in my opinion. If you fight with someone as instance and you stop before the guy gets badly injured, you know your limits. I do respect people who value themselves and others, I do call this karma.

Usually the threads implying Incest shouldn't be implemented are less about desire and more about not having a good platform. I'm sure you've heard about Patreon's lack of acceptance of taboo content currently, and more recently, largely because of new American laws regarding sex trafficking, even "buy me a coffee" type places have started to crack down on adult content, pushing things like incest, rape, bestiality, and underage content further and further underground. Luckily the first three are easily patched in and out of the game, making it possible to get away with, but a bit of a hassle. It didn't stop me from starting development of an incest game, but, it does make it harder for me to find somewhere I can put it.

I don't see the point in adding incest or any taboo just for the sake of adding that fetish.

I have browsed a lot of games and see a lot of people ask or even demand incest be added even if it doesn't fit the story. I don't play many VN's, i'm very particular about what I like and very few developers seem to understand what a lesbian is, but one I do play is Twists of my Life. I've seen people complaining there because his roommate isn't his sister and start whining when the dev said he wasn't going to change it.

I don't like to kink shame but I don't share a lot of kinks other people have. What I take issue with is when people demand their kink be added into a game that doesn't have it and then complain when the dev tells them no. If a developer doesn't like a particular fetish then he or she won't add it to their game.

I kinda just wish fiction as a whole was completely left alone from the law. We might see things we hate as a result but I don't like being restricted to whatever the majority likes.

Sometimes the point is simply to indulge in a fetish. Nukige games for example aren't really anything beyond indulging in sexual desires with very simplistic writing usually. As for people whining to h devs about their fetishes not being in a game, they can make their own game if they want it so bad or get modding.

From my point of view i play these games to indulge in fantasy i would never carry out in real life.
Same reason why i murder people in a video game rather then that anoying co-worker.

And because my fentish is power i encourge any game to have things the symbolized power.
Incest, rape, mind control, corruption, blackmail, cheating.
All of these things are tools to make me feel empowered.
Something i will never be in real life.
Taboo is all about breaking the boundry of what is legal and consider normal.
I hate rape in real life and would have ever known rapist be slowly bled to death for the suffering they cause.
But in games, movies?
Beg you bitch, you are mine now.
MWhahahahaha.
As someone told me along time ago.
It is more fun to play the villian.
Not to be the villian.

You know, I look at it this way.
I think taboo and incest is absolutely fine in video game, porn roleplay etc. Because it's not real of course and that makes it interesting.
it's Like when you play COD or any other shooting game or something, when I play those I enjoy it but that doesn't mean I'm crazy and love shooting people with a gun in the head xd.
