Does everyone else find it insane how there's been a tag rework coming for like 4+years? What's going with it. Site could be vastly improved with it actually happening. I've seen free sites makeovers happen very quickly so why so long for this?

Being honest, looking at the new tags, there's still so many problems with them that I just don't really care whether it happens or not.
What do you expect from making a thread like this?
"Oh you're right, that free website did it quickly! my bad, we'll do it right now, ty for telling us!"
If it didn't happen yet, it means it's not ready.

I definitely think about it from time to time. It would've been useful to filter out specific things in the past but these days, kind of whatever. Seems like a lot of the games these days feel like the same exact thing or include all the same stuff anyway.
Could be because devs are trying to appeal to as wide an audience as possible or a very niche, target audience. Either way, it's slim pickings so even if I could filter stuff out it'd end up just me looking at like 5 or 6 games that I've already seen before. And a new one maybe every 3 to 4 months that either takes incredibly long to update or just becomes abandoned eventually.

Personally, I'd just love to be able to filter out daz/hs2/etc. so if I want to look for a specific genre of graphics, I won't have to manually look among the 3dCG tag
Are you saying something like unique art or do you mean if you're looking for specifically something like daz (as an example)?
I'm thinking you meant the latter but I'm tired so I'm not thinking straight right now.

I think the different popular 3D engines are best served for different types of games. DAZ, for example, is really jarring in an RPGM game, but KK suits the style better to me. (Yes, I am aware of NLT games. No, I do not like them)
No, I just didn't want to list them all. I personally don't play any game anymore for now. If I played any, I'd like to filter out them all so that 3DCG only displays Daz3D games. However, in general, I prefer 2DCG.
Yeah, the latter. I think it's generally more useful for everyone, as right now 3DCG includes them all.

Yeah, sometimes i try VNDB for this since it separates Real looking 3d (iirc it still packs Daz and HS together) and anime looking 3d (Koikatsu and some others).
But VNDB indexation in more 'western' looking games is still lacking, it is what it is i guess, site was made with japanese VNs in mind
Yea, I'd like that too actually. Would also be nice if "Kinetic novels" and "Visual novels" more or less switched places. It's a shower thought I had once where I went, "Wait. Why is the one where you're just sitting through a story with no choices called, 'Kinetic' "?
Although, I kind of just wish there was a tag that would definitively differentiate from something that's just going to be a "story" game or a "game" game. Lately, I've been preferring the latter so it'd be great to just filter out all the stories and crap. There are a handful of devs who can actually write, the rest is crap. Sandbox doesn't really cover it well enough, neither does RPG.
Term coined by VisualArts in Japan, publisher for Key games like Clannad. I think it was just used as marketing at the time, tbh. They needed a term that differentiated from traditional VNs people were used to.

Just bizzare for it to take so long. The current tagging system is pretty flawed. Theres an immense amount of unnecessary thread scrolling with constant repeat answers for certain types of games.What do you expect from making a thread like this?

As you can see, everyone (Including me) is looking forward to it. I agree that some specific tags would make it much easier.
However, F95Zone is pretty big, and for everyone involved it's a hobby. Only recently they solved the Discord issue they had, quality takes time. I am sure they have to test and make sure everything is working flawlessly before they release anything big.
Creating these threads won't help.
