Few encounters have that problem, there are also some encounters that fix the problem without having to restart (re-visiting the spider encounter is one for instance).
The problem is usually caused for holding the skip during certain encounters, like for instance the "sleeping ogre" encounter is one, if you hold skip before the battle, it will cause this problem.

Look for the problem in yourself. The game author supplies the patreon version with java 11.0.12, I've run it with 19.0.2 and there are no problems.

OR just download the game from my link. WHERE the required JAVA is and just run it from the .exe file like a normal person.

I wish vote tier was cheaper then I could help out this easier maybe if it ever comes into voting table, for just voting and additional art its pretty rough, but the game build tier actually makes sense with how often the builds drop.
