In bara games, it is standard for every character to look like a hunk, a body-builder or a bear - the staples of "prime masculinity" - since that is what most gay men want or like in their porn. On the other end of the spectrum you've got Yaoi or BL, where every dude is thin and lanky, almost boyish in appearance (though Yaoi has more of a feminine audience so different strokes).

The issue here lies with the tropes and stereotypes. There has yet to be a genre that mix-and-matches appearances or offers a wide variety of looks when it comes to MxM. Unfortunately for those like us, we have to contend with extremes or nothing at all... for now.

I agree, would be nice if there was a genre for the few games that has a mix of Bara and Yaoi or BL. As an artist and fan I would love if there could be more games with a mix but I'm shy not so good at anatomy. #Goals

I would recommend Coming Out on Top first because its complete and actually has a well built premise/story with a wide range of dateable hunks. To Trust an Incubus delivers a strong beginning that dwindles your interest quickly after. Morningdew Farms isn't done (theres a demo if you like) but it's made by the same people who made TTAI i think, so I'm not expecting much tbh. Synthetic Lover is a bit too yaoi in artstyle for my tastes. Full Service is what I'm most excited to see come out.
