VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Teacher's Harem [v0.5] [T-Wizard]

So let me be clear that this game is not great, and even if it hadn't been abandoned, it probably never would have been great.

Cons:

• The storyline is as trope-y as they come - you get hired as the only male at an all girls school and everyone immediately wants to fuck you, the end.
• There are no meaningful choices.
• There is way too much dialogue for a game with no meaningful story or character development.

Pros:

• No unnecessary sandbox. It's sad that this needs to be said, but I think we can all agree that it does.
• A wide, and I do mean WIDE variety of models and personality types.

That last bullet is really the only reason that I rated this game as highly as I did. Many game developers stick with one body type. Hell, some even keep everything the same but the hair color. And even when they do vary the body types, the characters themselves come off as stereotypes. This game offers you a LOT of women - none of whom look or act the same. That alone is practically a holy grail on this site. Sadly the game was abandoned before the was any content with the vast majority of them.

It is a pretty simple novel, with a mediocre visuals, but what makes it work for me is a sharp and on point writing, that makes it very easy and pleasant to read. Seems like author knows, what he's doing, so if you are looking for a harem story, you should give it a shot.

its a good novel, not exactly a game due to lack of choices but nice fun story with lots a good character design and charming dialogue, also the fact it's mostly just wholesome fun is great, fuck super intense drama, even when they do drama it is short lived and moves the plot along

A pretty basic game. If you go back in time and look some standard (not the best ones) games from 2016~2017 it is pretty much like this one. Generic story, below avarage graphics, models that you already saw dozens of times and etc...
And this is quite linear, almost a KN. So theres forced sexual content on it, you as player cant choose what girl you want...when i stumbled on the 1st girl i couldnt avoid i deleted the game...theres some "choices" here and there but not worth of note.
1 star here is for the fact this game has no bugs and other one for the effort on putting everything togheter.

I usually don't review vanilla games, since it's not my thing I admit, but after seeing so many actual corruption or mind controlled or "evil mc" games get negative reviews from vanilla fans, I feel I must check out a vanilla game myself.

The only good thing in this game is Not! Emma Watson model. A scenario that could be fun is a boring, everyone wants MC for no reason wish fulfillment snooze fest. You have to be particularly lonely to find such a scenario enticing. Renders are unclear, writing even with the unnatural "all these nubile girls want teacher" scenario it feels stilted.

If you want any spice at all, look elsewhere. If you want just everyone loves you, check out My New Family, it's the same bad overall "everyone loves MC" but with meat on it's bones at didn't come out after that trope was done to death and back.

I'm gonna defer most of my review to Gosamr. They did a great job of explaining this game in a nutshell.

I use the 5 star rating whenever I feel the game has done it's best to tell it's story and succeeds in giving me proper pacing and characterization. This game is fairly fast paced and is a fun romp. There isn't TOO much depth, BUT the depth there is, is enough. And in some moments, like the girl Kayla I think is her name, there is slightly more depth than that.

This game is as Gosamr said. No one is getting hurt, it's a teacher that is actually fairly resistant to the girls. Well, at least at first. Once the bandaid is off, he gets into it a bit more with gusto. But none of that spoils the day to day of the game. It still has some interesting yet simple plot lines.

However, the characters are kind of archetypes and aren't TOO complex, yet I'd argue they are more interesting than 95% of the characters created by a guy named Daniel in the word that might have the last name K. They are cute and are given enough characterization to make them feel unique. Considering there are like 20 or so girls, that's pretty impressive.

TLDR: It's a fun game that is successful in their goals to be fun. The character are sort of like archetypes with enough depth that make them feel unique. Lastly, I played this game as a joke and ended up enjoying it. This game proves that don't always judge a book by it's cover. A thousand times more characterization than I was expecting.

Just to add that, in amongst the dark, unsettling, often depressingly sordid fare served up via this heavily exploited genre, spending time with this story and these harmless characters never ceases to cheer me up. In this day and age and for this reason alone it is more than worth its weight in gold, in fact it is priceless.

And although this title is a highly creditable, entirely decent attempt to entertain, it is not nor does it ever purport to be anything other than a light-hearted, naughtily amusing yet frequently very perceptive and sharply observed (and I cite as a prime example, the body language portrayed during the teacher's one-on-one get-to-knows early on in proceedings) bundle of occasionally adult fun.

As a result, it pains me to see "Teacher's Harem" being picked apart so meticulously and coming under such ridiculously negative critical fire for not being something it was never designed to be and for not including material for which it was never intended to be a vehicle.

...for many of the reasons botc76 gives for not liking "Teacher's Harem" I LOVE TEACHER'S HAREM! In fact, even though I might agree with many of the things said, I nevertheless still LOVE TEACHER'S HAREM!

Anyway, before I start my proud and defiant defence of this little gem, may I make this crystal clear...I am not even remotely associated with the teaching profession, so this has nothing to do with any kind of perverse, secret wish fulfilment on my part, okay? It just takes all sorts to make F95zone reviews, that's all.

So with that out of the way, this is how I see "Teacher's Harem"...

This tale is whimsical, in many places amusing, often highly. It's mischievous, outrageous, totally and transparently unpretentious and, above all, easy on the mind. In essence it's pure (literally) unadulterated fun and, as far as I can see, makes no claim to be anything else.

No-one's hurting anyone, no-one's viciously threatening anyone, no-one's mind controlling anyone, no-one's pissing on anyone (sorry urination fans), no-one's really hating on anyone. The MC's not stalking or seeking to seduce, rape, corrupt or do anything non-consensual. Just a bunch of young, legal aged, sexually curious, hormonally driven, semi-innocent often mischievously promiscuous girls waffling their way tongue-in-cheek (pant, pant!) through an intentionally outlandish scenario.

It's just a light-hearted romp though a naughty, farcical fantasy. It's pure fun which, in my opinion, "Teacher's Harem" never seeks or promises to be anything more. I find it to be a wonderfully endearing, totally relaxing and highly pleasurable experience.

I therefore personally think we should all be thanking T-Wizard most sincerely not only for putting so much work and skill into bringing us this delightful little gem of entertainment, but also for courageously attempting to liberate cynical old curmudgeons such as Botc76 from their smut-obsessed, kink frustrated, pernickety, perfectionist, self-righteously judgmental and, above all, self-imposed prisons.

And hey, Botc76...if you even bother to read this, if it makes you feel uppity, please note, I'm only kidding okay?

We all know that your assessment is every bit as valid as mine, you and I just enjoy different aspects of entertainment and perhaps on different levels, that's all. It's thankfully what makes the world go around, right?

This game... this game getting 3 stars, this is me being REALLY generous.

The writing is atrocious. It's clichéd, stilted, unnatural, bad style, boring.
The good thing I can say about it is that it is readable and understandable, but that's about the only positive reaction I can give.

The story is one sentence, new teacher comes to an all-girls boarding school, where every woman wants to fuck him,

There are seemingly dozens of girls, they are all pretty much the standard models you know from these games and the same template is used several times, with just a different hair-style and colour and the boobs size slider moved more or less to max size.
The renders aren't also particular good, a bit grainy and with bad lighting.
And in some frames the heads of the girls look flat and attached to their necks at a weird angle.

Since all the girls want him (even if they claim not to), there's no thrill of seduction, no corruption or anything, just one outrageously unbelievable situation after the other.
Every girl is a cliché, your behaviour as MC is a cliché, every situation is a cliché. It really is like a standard, unimaginative porn film.

Three stars is really generous, and I only give that because the game is early in development and maybe the dev can improve upon this.
If not, the rating must be changed a few updates in.

Look, I admire everyone for putting oneself out there, presenting your work to the world, but that alone doesn't make a game good. I still have to judge the actual quality and for this game, it is just bad.

@Dear Gosamr, hey I could have done with a few less insults directed at me, (I mean, even when you write you're just kidding, you call me uppity, was that really necessary?) but I'll drag my cynical world-weary self up to a level where I can believe it's all in good fun.

Yeah, we all like different things, and that's fine, yet some of us just have no standards and no taste, but who would fault you for that, right?
It's not that I can't appreciate light, good-hearted fun, I just think that also needs to be done well, there are many easy-going light-hearted games which got a high rating from me, because the renders and writing are good.
Here, they are not.
