Updated my compressed Android port of The Awakening with Shawnchapp's walkthrough mod to v0.4.6.

Got some basic gestures loaded in: swipe up for save menu, swipe down to hide UI, swipe left to rollback and swipe right to skip. Save files are now stored in the Documents folder. This sometimes means that you may need to close and re-open the port after installing so the save folder is properly created.

Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the ports and I'll see what I can do to get them sorted.

Got caught up with the Dev, and once again, your mod was a load of help in knowing where to go and when. Glad you told me to text Linda, as I did a save there just before I made the other choice, just in case things go bad, which sure enough, they did. But anyways, thank you so very much for your work on this!!!

Features:

  • This mod adds an in-game walkthrough for every character and story event in the game The walkthrough menu contains dynamic guides that let you track your progress for each character and see the requirements needed to trigger their scenes and advance their story. The mod guides also show all requirements for getting all possible extra dialogue options and seeing all possible extra content during events and scenes.
  • You can now work at the cafe! added the job as an extra way to earn money (unlocks after learning how the coffee machine works)

Improvements:

  • Improving the dialogue UI by changing textbox and font added character portraits can be disabled in mod settings
  • Textbox transparency slider
  • Setting "Text Speed" to "0" makes it instant text.
  • Improved relationship setting (now when changing names in the option player will be asked to select displaying name or relationship so when the name pops up it will either say "relationship" or "Name" for Example "Landlady" or "Abby" will show instead of "Landlady (Abby)" (name and relations can be w/e the play wants) and play now can change what "Abby" refers to the lay as instead of the default "tenant"

I get this when trying to load my saves, any idea? Is it because of the rework?

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While running game code:
File "renpy/common/00action_file.rpy", line 498, in __call__
renpy.load(fn)
AttributeError: Can't get attribute 'construct_None' on <module 'renpy.python'

No, the rework happened a long time ago. Something else is going on as my saves loaded fine.

hmm, dont know then because i've played 0.4.5 fine but this version no saves load, guess ill have to start from the beginning and skip through it.

Don't know if this is your Mod altogether, or some combination of things (much more likely), but I get an error when I try to use the replay gallery.

The likely pertinent facts are that I last played this in April, 2023 (last comments from my former self related to play-through in the VN thread occurred at that time, at least), and I don't think there was a mod at the time - at the very least, I think all I used was URM to track splits - so any rework or fix after that time wouldn't have been part of those original plays that triggered the replay to unlock.

What I'm doing now is, since I've forgotten so much of the VN detail, I did a restart and actually deleted all old saves, but not the original persistent, which would be the reason the replays appear as unlocked, I would assume. Thinking this might be a problem with a scene I hadn't re-seen, I went back to one that I did (this traceback came from trying to replay the first Abby scene), and had the same issue.

Many VNs have a "lock all replays" function (though those that do usually have an "unlock") and I see neither native to the VN - I thought maybe locking and then getting a new, current play induced, unlock might fix things. So, unless there's something that can be done with a patch, I suspect I'd have to delete my persistent and dash through a fresh replay from the beginning as quickly as possible - I'm already a few hours in, and with the persistent deleted, that would mean using the "skip unseen text" function, which I can do, but thought you might want to know about this in case there is a way to fix it with a Mod update, or if the problem is actually the Mod.

I'll probably go do that kill-the-persistent and speed-play thing and see if it helps - will let you know if a problem remains after.

This info is mainly so you can know about it, look at what your mod is doing, and see if it can be an easy avenue to repair the replay issue without killing the persistent and redoing things, as I'm about to test. :LOL:


EDIT: Well, it didn't really work. After deleting the persistent files, I got the same basic alert when I tried to "Play" the VN (create new playthrough from the beginning). I yanked out the Mod and got virtually the same thing, only the Mod wasn't named that time. Had to do a completely clean reinstall without the Mod, start a new play through, and reinstall the mod after getting a little of the way in. This did close off all of the replays and is unlocking them as I go, so there's that.

This was the consistent thing shown in each error:
NameError: name 'disable_awakening_menu' is not defined

Instead of tacking on, putting this in separate. When I got to the scene where MC is getting his phone for the first time, I get an error. I can't advance past it - it just gives error after error. I had to nuke the mod to advance. After advancing to the end of the scene, I saved, then reinstalled the mod and got the error again. It's this scene where the little heart icon box (for the phone) first appears, and this may be where a disconnect occurs.

The attached is the trace from the post-reinstall, but the error listed is the same - "mod current label" definition issue.

Guess I'm proceeding without the assistance.

I get the same error when loading my 4.5 save. and it resets to the start of the game Not a tragedy, I forgot the story anyway so I'll just replay it but thought I mention it.

Has anyone attempted this with 4.6b? I'm guessing it doesn't work cause of the new twins arc.

game still works without errors with the outdated mod but it doesn't take into account the new content in this update and as this update added a new stat system would be best to wait till the mod gets updated

Full disclosure i've been having severe medical issues for the last month+ I;'ve been in and out of the doctors/hospital for weeks now, one of my recent CT scans suggest crohn's disease i won't know for sure until i have a colonoscopy. but i have other medical issues on top that might require surgery and on top of that i might have an infection of some sort and possible bowl obstruction, needless to say since they haven't confirm i have crohns yet they can't offer anything to help for all my pain and on top of the other issue and possible infection it put me in a weird spot where they can't even give me pain meds as most all cause constipation which would make the obstruction worsem nor can they even attepmt steriods as that would make the infection worse. So basically im SOL until more testings and have been inpain 24/7 and haven't even been able to eat, sleep or drink much of anything for the last week. So im not sure when i will hace time to actually update this



TLDR: due to medical issue this is goign to take bit to ge updated.
