RPGM - Completed - The Counterwar of Queen Ilyss [Final] [dieselmine]

The art is great, the gameplay is like any other RPG, really grindy, the story is interesting even with the bad, really bad translation that had zero proofreading, the game give you the false sense that you can beat it without having sex or any sexual interaction, in the second village you have a side quest, if you complete it, the guy instead of pay you with treasures like he promised, he hypnotize Elise just to have his way with her, there wasn't a warning or anything that makes you believe that it would end like that, and no matters what level Elise is, she can't resist the hipnosis. And looks like there are many sidequests that have sex content like that, normal quests that without reason get sexual, so you have to save all the time because you know when you will need to reload the game.

I haven't played it for long, and I might try again because it leaves a weird taste to leave a review having played so little of the game.
Let's get the first thing out of the way, saddly, not all Dieselmine circle games are good, this one is probably on the lower end.

Let's start with the story, it seems decent, at least the plot itself is fine, it's nothing crazy but it does the job of laying down the settings, beside that, I can't say much more, SakuraGames translation are pretty much MTL, you will probably get the meaning of things, but it reads really bad, and sometimes you just wont get anything, you would think after so many translation we would finally at least get a checker, to at least fix the obvious mistakes and word choices (hotel for inn, really ?)
So yeah, don't expect a good story since you will barely be able to understand it to begin with.

Now the gameplay, it's... bad, let's face it, I don't mind classic turn by turn gameplay, but this is just straight up bad, using or not a spell doesn't feel any different, beside buffing yourself spell feels like a waste of time as long as you don't build for it, since you do the same damage as if you just did a normal attack, which doesn't cost any mana.
The balance is all over the place too, just at the beginning, the first forest with the red orc, if you just explore a bit and reach the boss, you would be around level 8 - 10, which, you would think is fine, since you started the area at level 3.
Wrong, the boss 2 shot you, so except if you manage to oneshot him, you lose, and you have to go grind, this is what we call poor balacing, I don't mind a bit of grind if there's a good reason, but leveling up 6 times in a single, pretty small area, not being anough for the boss of said area, is poor balancing.
There's also a million spell, I assume there's weakness in the game, considering there is different element, but I haven't gone far enough for that.

To be fair, if this game had a decent translation, I would probably try to push further and go over the blatant flaws of the gameplay (I know we're playing a porn game, but if I only wanted hentai I would go read on nhentai or something, not play a game).
I also wont judge the H content, while I like the art, I can't really judge scene with just pictures, considering how bad the translation is it doesn't give me any enjoyement, if I wanted my H to be just picture, I would just go in an image gallery.

I know it can seem kind of rant-ish, which it is, but it's just that I felt like no one really pointed out how bad those 2 particular aspect (gameplay and translation) are (or seem for the gameplay, to be fair I don't consider having gone far enough to fully judge, but what I played seemed enough to give me an idea)

If you don't mind reading broken english, which reads really bad but at least you will get the gist of things, then give it a try, you might enjoy it.

Cute game that I recommend.
it's the second time I've played it, and my ward has changed completely.
The first time I played the game, it was many years ago, and it felt like a mini-masterpiece. I found the story original and beautiful, with all the elements in the right place, beautiful drawings etc. In short, years ago I would have rated it 4/5.
After years, however, I developed a personal taste and in any case I tried several hundred games, so it didn't seem so original to me anymore.
The story is still nice, cute drawings, but too detailed and colorful, I love vanilla drawings.
The voice is very good, and the game it's not bad to play.
Sure, a minimum of grind is required for each boss, but it's such a featureof the genre.
One thing I really don't like is that the game it's too linear and repetitive.
Excellent ending with the hero.
In short, it is a game that I recommend, but for personal tastes I can no longer enjoy it.
Objectively it is a yes, subjectively it is a no.

This game was done dirty by some oddly low review scores by people that seemed to enjoy the game.

Anyway, this is a definitely a game to play if you enjoy RPGM games. It's easily in the top five when it comes to coherent story and likable characters. Main character, especially, is nothing short of a badass, but there are optional situations where you're mind controlled/etc... optional as in "oh, this sidequest is bad, let me reload".

There are, without spoiling too much, multiple endings that are distinct and interesting that perfectly sum up the game in whichever way you'd like to.

Definitely a must play for people that don't just inherently hate RPGM and the battle system. Quite possibly one of the best experiences I've gotten from a porn game.

General
This is a game that left a good taste in my mouth, at first glance it looks like another generic RPGM game (in several respects it is) but it has certain details that make it an outstanding game.

Gameplay
The gameplay is the typical turn-based combat, our main character may have a penchant for 2 fighting styles that would be physical and magic, we can change his outfit which will modify some scenes or will be necessary for certain events.
The combat is difficult, it has been a long time since I played a game of this style, it is not that it is unfair but it makes you think your movements well since most of the game you will have to play with a single character who will have to face many enemies which is not low life.
But something I want to point out is that this game has a progress system that is very satisfactory since at a certain point you will feel like a god and it does not feel bad since even if you are powerful, you will continue to lose a lot of life but it is extremely fun.

Art
The art of the game is beautiful, this is totally subjective but I like the simple designs of this game, I will keep this point short so that you can enjoy it yourself.
Mechanical
Undoubtedly this is where the game falters the most, as such the game is a straightforward RPGM, there is nothing innovative or interesting in this section.
I like the process in which our protagonist is corrupted but I feel that she could have given more (Not to mention that it may be a bit fast and meaningless given the context in which the protagonist is at the beginning)
For everything else the game is very simple.

History
The main course to my surprise, usually this is the last thing I look at when I play this type of game, so you already have an idea of why I emphasize this point so much, Alise's story is one of the best I have seen. only in hentai games but in most indie games, it is fun, entertaining with characters that are hard to forget and many endings.

In general, I recommend it, it is a game that can trap you through history and its sex scenes, despite being few, are of very good quality.

The game has a very good plot and art but there are issues I hate:
1. the battle system; the enemies pop up randomly; this is the most irritating thing ever for me. like what the frick???
2. the translation; it was bad.
3. the grind; you need to grind a lot to level up(which I usually don't mind) but the thing is that is also random as you can only kill enemies if they pop up and the low tier enemies give low exp which makes grind longer......fuu.
4. hint/quest system or the lack thereof; this is a big issue for me as I usually don't play at length or don't want to stress myself out finding things as I play to relieve myself

I couldn't play this game for long as it started getting on my nerves but I will try to complete it after a while to give a complete perspective but for now this is not worth playing if you are looking for an easy game

Overall it is a very great game, the bosses were challenging and story was great, I just wish that there are more scenes for other characters.

Been a while, but it was a pretty decent game... I remember playing the whole game with a never ending boner. Art was good, positions were good, it has some of my fetishes in it... So I can say this a gold!

I really liked this game not only because of the underplot but because Dieselmine managed to make some really interesting designs for the characters. Another plus was having voiced scenes for the H parts. Overall, the game can be quite grindy but I like that in a RPG.

I really like this game because in it you have no way to depend on another party member and go faithful until near the end where it became slightly predictable but rest is good (Elise with loose hair is better than tied e.e).

In terms of game play it's quite good. Quite a bit hard than most porn RPGs but still doable via grinding albeit quite time consuming.
The first part has quite a good English translation but at the latter part, the English becomes funny and sometimes you couldn't understand it at all.
Also, there seems some bugs even in the H-scenes. It sometimes could not find some voiced sound files and a pop-up simply ask [Retry].

Overall, it's quite a fun game but hard game.
