Unity - The Dancing Inn [v0.3.2] [The Dancing Inn]

It is alright. If you're itching to play some grindy management game, then it's a decent pick. The premise of making heroines into whores is a classic and the progression feels good enough. Then again, the whole AI art thing significantly devalues all CGs imho.

The main issues I have with the game is the amount of content and its spacing.

Most main girls have 5 levels of depravity, which is your "love" stat ig, but they have at most only two events that trigger on levels 2 and 3 (some have none at all). Those events are comics, that are kind of awkward to read, as they don't fit on screen fully and you have to drag them around. I don't seem why those couldn't've been implemented as regual VN sequences. Every other level feels kind of underwhelming: you just get a pop up of a level up. With each new level all tavern events get updated to reflect it. Those are certainly the highlight of the game in terms of porn. They show your progress, are plenty and are very fun to collect. Certainly the best use of AI in this game. That being said, some things are plain unfinished still. At least one job has no sprites for most girls at all. But, overall, the tavern management part of the game is pretty good, at least as a base for more content.

The side girls on the other hand are pretty poorly done. Some of them just require a specific item you can buy (and once you buy it, it unlocks pretty much all of those scenes). Other more important characters require a skill check. One needs a specific sequence of events to happen. Either way, once you do the prerequisite, you get a sex scene and nothing else. The dialogue doesn't change and it feels dull and static. No other scenes, no progress, nothing. This can be explained by the game being in early developement, but that only leads to the last main problem of this game: CGs.

CGs are AI, which is functional enough. But the sex scenes have so many images, you kinda just scroll through them, without stopping on any of them. Personally, I'd rather have several sex scenes in different contexts with a few CGs, that a few scenes with a dozen CGs that all repeat each other. The excessive amount of CGs for any given scene also highlights how inconsistent the generation is: a character can have a ponytail in one frame, then lose it in the next one and then get it again. It is especially apparent with MC, who has no consistency at all, morphing through all sorts of ages, faces and beards. Of course, it is expected of AiCG game to have slight inconsistencies, but I feel like this could be mostly negated by focusing on producing a few quality CGs for a scene, than 30 mid ones, that copy each other either way.

Besides management gameplay loop, there's also exploration. You can point and click across the map, which is both overwhelming, when you try to navigate through dozens of locations for the first time, and underwhelming, when you realize how little there is to actually do there. There are a few minigame jobs, a few npcs to fuck, a few upgrades to buy and a few interactables, that are mostly there to give extra usage to items that you have to buy to unlock girls. Same thing as with CGs, less would be more here. (also, some background assets have little little white line artifacts in the lower right corner. I assume, because AI tried to replicate copyright notices from the original art, some touch ups would go a long way).

Despite all my criticism, this game is alright. I think, at a later state, it will be good enough to waste a few evenings playing it.

    GREAT POTENTIAL
    This game is fresh .
The game as of now is in development and pretty unbalanced . But the mechanics this game offers is a treat for the players . This game even in development stage is still much better than a lot games out there.

The later part feels a bit grindy but I reckon that will be fixed with the addition of new content.

As a concept this game is amazing.

And I see no fundamental flaws as of now,any issue will be fixed by addition of new content and updates.

This game has a long journey ahead and I wish to play this game 2 years down the line with a shit ton of content and have a jolly good time while playing it.

This is game is the one to look out for.

this is surprisingly good, if the content keeps coming and develop the brothel/management part, we might have a one of the best of the genre up there.
The plot isnt so bad either but its clearly not why you play that game

It's a surprisingly good corruption/brothel management game. Some of the AI art is questionable, and the gameplay still needs some balancing, but there is actually engaging gameplay here, and the updates are going in a good direction.

You manage a brothel by assigning girls to different tasks. At first they only work in the kitchen/tavern/dancing stage, but you increase their corruption by letting them work or interacting with them. You can buy various items and brothel upgrades with the money you earn. There's also (optional) taxes, but as soon as you find out the two main ways of making money (before the brothel turns profitable) - cutting wood and mining -, the game is pretty easy and you can play through most of the game quickly.

The corruption (especially of the main girl) is a bit too fast IMO and could use a few more inbetween stages + slower progression. Same for the recruitable characters: I think it would feel more satisfying if their quest(-lines) were a bit longer and more interesting. At the same time, I'd prefer if the solutions for the "quests" would be a bit more obvious.

    Gameplay:
    Point&Click with managment
Going into the game was fun. There is a map with different places, and you can interact a bit, collect stuff, solve small puzzles, play mini-games. And you have this "Dancing Inn" where you have to invest, hire girls, and make it run on a turn-base system (place the personnel, go to the next day). The tricky part is that there are a lot of stats, and it feels quite grindy (but it's still in development). You unlock pictures of your "personnel", getting more lewd as their stats increase. You also have a few events for unique scenes.

    Story:
Well, it's a fantasy world where you end up magically, and you meet some people. The story is quite basic. There are funny moments, but it doesn't feel that it will be a great story.

    Graphics/Animation:
This is the first time I try an AI CG game. It looks nice, but cheap. It seems difficult to be consistent. There is a ton of pictures to unlock in the Inn management part, and I didn't unlock them. It feels like a quantity over quality, because they all look the same in the end. I'm not really fond of this kind of graphics to be honest.

    Sound/Music
There is an attention to background music and sound from menu, but no sound for the scenes.

    Overall impression:
It's hard to judge a game when it is still in development. I found some good stuff here, but I was disappointed by the Inn management game. It will probably require a lot of effort (grinding) to reach some stuff.

As written before, No explanations, No directions, No Clue.

I worked some of it out for myself after a while, but it's really not worth it.

The game play loop is repetitive nonsense, models are AI and pretty. Some general artwork is good, some poor.

Writing ranges from poor to pretty good. Overall it's a right mixed bag and with some decent work would be an enjoyable game.

I really enjoyed this game. It still has its quirks. Here's some of the cons that once fixed would make this a 10/10
    • The SKIP ALL function doesnt work.
    • When you go to the skill witch once you decide to add the training, if you did not select to add the ability to reroll perks, or remove them entirely the option is forever lost to you.
    • Perks and Abilities are not explained
    • Depravity and Brothel are not explained
    • Recommendation: There should be more client choices for the brothel with higher XP besides "Lore"
    • Recommendation: There should be more character based Perks
    • Recommendation: Pleasure skill should increase when girls work in the Brothel and because of how high the energy expenditure is it should be guaranteed 1 skill point every time.
It's still a work in progress but I've done practically all I can do up to this point. For those like myself who love management games this was fun 8/10.

For anyone having problems figuring out how to do certain things because it wasn't well explained. HINTS BELOW

    1. To make money: Chop Trees you can do it once a week.
    2. Increase your strength and buy an Axe to make more money chopping trees.
    3. DO NOT do the final upgrade to the Inn without having all of the girls. There are (6) so far in total.
    4. Right Click each individual girl and give them perks
    5. Girls must reach over 100 Depravity to start being able to be used for the Brothel Function
    6. My Recommendation: Structure each individual girl for a specialty one has all the cooking Perks, one has all the serving perks and once they hit 100 rotate them (or whatever number you feel comfortable with all my characters are over 100 in almost each skill except "Attunement," "Pleasure," and something else you can only upgrade with XP I forget what it was off the top of my head but, overall good game. (If you enjoy management games). Looking forward to the next update.

Art is AI so thats not bad. It really doesn't tell you anything on how to do anything at all. No idea how to make any kind of money at first. Really turned me off to the rest of the game. Maybe have someone tell you there is a job you can do to make money because you will lose at the first 7 days. no thanks, skipped

Nice game. Giving 5 stars. Hope the author will have successful release on Steam.

    as a note
    - initially it was not clear how to raise dep level. and girls were working without role rotating. It would be useful to highlight.
    - missed password for scroll and had to check it on forum.
-imho it would be nice to require less grinding.
    - and i suggest not to show job pictures every turn. at some point they become very annoying.

    Rated on v0.2.7
(I am not gonna count graphics as a + because it's AI, but I can mention it here that the graphics look really good)

+Amazing gameplay: Different minigames, nice game progression, many secrets to find which either helps you in a way or give you a h-scene.
+Many CG's with different variations as well as repeatable scenes with optional characters.

-Nearly no animations, and the one's which are in the game aren't that interesting (in my opinion.)
-No questlog (Ik that there is the fortune teller, but that's just wague. Also the develover said on the discord server it's gonna be added, so this could be added already when you read this.)

To sum it up: This is just a real addicting game which got me through a whole 4 hours. The pro's overweight the con's by a ton and the con's aren't even that big of a deal. Thinking about the fact that this game is in an early stage really makes it even more impressing, definitely making this game a must-play if you like sandbox/management games, even if you are someone who normally only plays games with animations.

    5/5, would goon again

Maybe the best ai art in the games. Interesting and addicting gameplay. Cute and hot characters.
Need some animation, but different scene make very curious "what's next" experience. I will wait for more girl and more jobs for them, and maybe some mc interaction

Excellent game, enjoyable management gameplay loop with lots of cgs. Girls are hot, and the different levels of corruption are satisfying to reach. Only gripe is that sometimes reaching the next level requires cryptic criteria be met

Excellent, this AI CG is just fantastic, it may sound like a classic from an outsider's viewpoint, but as my first AI CG game, it's fantastic, can't wait to see more content in the future with more characters

Very cool game, might seem kinda odd but once you give it a shot it feels great to play. Bit of a learning curve and some stuff you have to figure out yourself, but the girls are very hot and the scenes are quite well done.

Game is currently still in beta, so the storyline and other items brought about in other posts will be addressed.

Author is super responsive, and is currently working with an animator to add more fleshed out scenes.

Corruption is a decently slow burn, not too slow like in Pizza Hot, but not too fast. The game is not super long but it is a nice break from the over saturated hentai RPGs like from Kagura that use RPG Maker and are all pretty similar with a few exceptions. The artwork is pretty good, and it is nice to see them in different phases doing different jobs before they become fully corrupt.

A lot of work is being focused on the intro, namely handling taxes, ways to get money in the beginning, explaining the woodcutting game etc., the author of the game has already addressed some of these issues and continues to improve the game.

Definitely worth the price, updates are pretty frequent, and the author is very receptive to ideas from the community.

Review for 2.2 but I have played prior versions as well.

Story- Surprisingly dark intro for what is basically a reincarnation story, but gets the job done without making your brain hurt.

art- Ai art so occasionally some odd artifacts like fingers, and oddly enough a twin in the background of some shots, but generally very nice.

music- Not bad, but a mite loud at the usual setting of max and the game always starts at max volume when you start each time but goes back to where you set it when you click on settings.

gameplay***- The overview actually describes this aspect well. If you played the original sim brothel on Newgrounds you will be more than pleasantly surprised by the main gameplay loop of managing girls and seeing sexy pics each day when they become more lurid.

There is the sandbox/exploration aspect that ties into the main story and is how you'll unlock other girls. Some of girls are easy to unlock [300 gold for an item] and others need more steps [get x trees in logging game, get a shovel, find an item, then talk to her].

Dev and updates- He listens to the community and is consistent with his updates. Many had trouble with the logging minigame, which lead in turn lead to difficulty with the main game loop, so he put in extra help with gold. There has been solid additions and, unlike many other ai games [at least that I am aware of] he is slowly including small animations.

overall- If you loved the original sim brothel, you will love this game.

[0.2.2] I am not a fan of AI artwork. I have seen lazy renders flood websites. But The Dancing Inn puts an effort I have not seen with AI artwork before. The renders are not only beautiful, but they also have corruption. These were not randomly chosen, but carefully curated! Combine this with an interesting game mechanic where you manage a literal inn-- I cannot overstate how much I like this game. It is a classic point-and-click adventure with dependant dialogues to progress and renders depending on what the characters are doing each day!

I did have to restart the game once I understood what I needed to do- which shows just how invested I was to do better, to unlock all the barmaids and see them slowly descend into lust. It is so very worth it, the renders of their final stages of depravity is amazing. I hope in future updates, they add even MORE.

I recommend this game if you like management sims and point and click games.

For the most part the game is good and story is meh. Definitley there is some potential for good content when the game is further developed. Until then it is very unforgiving to the player if the tax collector comes and you tried to pay your taxes.

I'm a sucker for slutty management games with just enough number crunching to get my brain engaged and plenty of (eventually) naked girls to keep my dick interested. The Dancing Inn is trying to be this type of game, but is currently running into too many flaws to really pull it off.

First is the gameplay. The beginning of the game is a wood chopping minigame simulator with a side of management. You have two girls, two jobs and resting and they make basically no money. The wood chopping minigame is how you make any progress in the early game, whether upgrading the inn, paying the town girls to work for you, or paying your taxes. It's not hard, it's not fun, and it's not avoidable.

In the midst of chopping ALL the wood, you slowly upgrade the inn and girls. The game is distinctly not horny early on. The girls don't show any skin until depravity level 25 and leveling this stat is very slow until you unlock the bar and dance floor. The first two girls have events you can run every three days to boost their depravity before you can afford the bar or dance floor, but they're just repeatables with one or two images for the stats.

At certain depravity break points (25/60/120), the girls have events to upgrade their depravity level. They feature a short slutty comic featuring the girl in question getting frisky with the MC in some sort of circumstance. After playing the event, future work cut scenes will feature the girls in question being lewder. At max depravity, they're fucking while on the job, which is great.

Unfortunately, I think there's a total of four of these comics/depravity events at the moment (0.1.9). While this could definitely be a selling point of the game in the future, it's pretty anemic at the moment. Fortunately, the girls without such events (5 girls at the moment) still upgrade their depravity levels even without the events, so you can still see them fucking around during work hours once they've served/danced enough. It takes a LONG time, but once you reach late game you can basically spam the end day button to unlock it all without too much trouble.

This also leads to another problem. There are four jobs and resting available for the girls each "turn." Each job has different images for each girl based on their depravity tier. This is great in theory, but in practice, the gameplay loop incentivizes you to have each girl work one job in order to boost the stat and output. As such, you don't see about 3/5ths of the images available for each girl since you only see them working their one job and resting. It feels like a lot of wasted effort by the dev so maybe stats should be more generalized like charisma to boost income, constitution to decrease fatigue gain, or focus to improve exp gain. It would also stop punishing the player for leveling a girl in the "wrong" job to advance their story (looking at you 10 cooking/25 serving depravity events).

Finally, the art is very AI cg. While there's a massive amount of it, it still features crazy eyes, sixth fingers, and assorted artifacts all around. While I generally like the character consistency between images, I find it just above filler tier. It's enough to base a game with good mechanics or story around, but not enough to sell a game by itself.

Overall, there's just not enough here. I need either a good story, good art or good gameplay from a game like this one, and The Dancing Inn is middling at best in all three. I hope it can make changes to flesh things out and improve the game in the future, but it has a very shaky foundation to work from.

EDIT: Came back to the game after eight months (0.2.9) and my review is still completely unchanged. Same potential, same problems, and overall very few changes. I put the better part of a day into the game and ran into only a handful of new events. I'll chalk that up to the lack of a quest log because I assume there had to be more than I saw from the number of patches. Still hoping for a comprehensive overhaul of the stat system, but I won't hold my breath.

I am always sceptical of AI art, as many people probably are, but this game really delivers. The sprites are very consistant as far as ai art goes at the moment. The gameplay is actually fun in my opinion and the progression has a good tempo. A few things still have to implemented in my opinion, mainly some sort of tutorial or at least some more text what some of the different skills do. It took a while for me to find out that you can rightclick the girls and what some of the abilities actually improve.
