What would you do if a mysterious device showed up one day… and started changing everything?​

I’ve been working on an early concept for a Twine CYOA story called The Device.

The story begins when a mysterious, otherworldly device suddenly appears in your home, an artifact capable of transforming people and reshaping reality itself. It listens to what’s said around it… though not always correctly. Sometimes, its interpretations lead to unexpected and strange outcomes.

The plan is to create multiple scenarios where you (and possibly others) experience the arrival of the device under different circumstances.

Right now, I’m focused on building out the story’s structure, refining the formatting, and developing a workflow that lets me generate new branches and variations more efficiently.

This is a link to the updated demo, it is still very short, but it has the first draft of all of the transformations for "The Neighbor" and "The Technician" scenarios. There may be some issues and bugs, I haven't had time to check all the edge cases.


I’d love to hear any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you might have, especially what kinds of transformations, scenarios, or ideas you’d like to see explored.

Hello.

A new bi game is always welcomed.

The character creation is well thought. Just more options for facial hair (none, stubble, mustache, goatee) and the height in cm (I'm lost with foot and inches).

All the scenarios have 2 or more versions, making me wonder how it'll work for the cases in which the partner isn't interested in us.

As for now, we can only try the first one to see where the game is going :
The introduction of her character is really short and almost only negative.
The device activates very early, disturbing the conversation.

From my point of view, it would have been more interesting if it happened like this :
description of the protagonist,
the device appears while he sleeps or when he isn't home (so he doesn't know it's there), initializes and stands by, ready for the right time to activate,
the neighbour comes by to get to know each other,
after some time, enough to learn more about her, the device activates and the story follows what you've written.
What I'm trying to say is : it's too quick and straight to the point. You need to build at least a minimum the context with more informations.

The description of the process is very good. Hoping it'll have some sexual stimulation too at some point.

There's no differences between the 2 paths which shouldn't be like this :
On the normal path, she should be distant, not intrusive, maybe staying at the door for a first encounter;
On the interested path, she should be more forward, pushing her way into the house.
Overall, we should clearly see that her attitude differs immediately.

Will sexual content ever happen with the not interested characters? Or it's just transformations?

As a bi man, the 3rd story is the one I'm interested the most and I'm curious what you have for it.

Lastly, I wanted to ask about transformations :
Are you fine with everything or are there limits? MtF/FtM, penis/breast size, furry/monsters, clothing/hair style, sissification/bimbofication, femboy/tomboy, hair/skin color, specific body parts (like just an arm), tattoo/piercings, bdsm, hypnosis/mind control
Who chooses what and for whom? Always the device, the protagonist or maybe even the partner?
Are they definitive/temporary? Can they be reversed?
Are the device's answer and the effect always positive?

Those are just my thoughts. Hope that helps.

Also, there's a bug : if we go to the settings after the transformation, the previous portraits are updated with the new one

The plan is to expand the intros later, so they start with the characters arriving, which should give a better sense of who they are and show the different attitudes toward you before the device shows up. These early versions are mostly a test builds, I wanted to make sure the layout and flow worked before adding more content. In the latest version, it is still very short, but it has the first draft for all of the first transformations in "The Neighbor" and "The Technician" scenarios.

I just uploaded the latest version and it does allow you to switch between english and metric. The facial hair option is really there to trigger a line to describe it falling out during the first transformation.

The protagonist is intentionally vague because they’re meant to represent the player directly. I want people to be able to slip into the story and imagine themselves in the situation, rather than being guided by a predefined character. That’s also why every character the player meets is a stranger, there are no pre-existing relationships, no backstory, and nothing that contradicts the player’s own identity or imagination. It keeps the experience open, personal, and easier to believe as “this could really be happening to me.”

My plan is to have a wide range of transformations. In fact I have plans for most of what you listed already. There are a few subjects I am uncomfortable with and will avoid, like rape, vore, mutilation and underage.

Who chooses what and for whom? Always the device, the protagonist or maybe even the partner?

The first transformation will always involve the protagonist, triggered either by something they say or by another character’s comments. After that, who transforms next will depend on the player’s choices. Eventually, everyone will probably experience changes, sometimes because of what they say or ask for, and other times as a result of someone else’s comments or requests.

Are they definitive/temporary? Can they be reversed?

Because the first transformation establishes a physical baseline that I can work from, it cannot be reversed, though it can be built upon or altered further through later transformations. There may be endings where everyone returns to the way they were before.

Are the device's answer and the effect always positive?

I don’t plan to include any “bad endings,” but some transformations might still feel negative or uncomfortable from a character’s point of view.
