VN - Ren'Py - The Fiery Scion [Update 20e] [Vander]

I enjoy the story, the animations may be a little on the weak side but the story makes up for it. The Dev is also very active in their discord and gives frequent updates. The girls are unique but I have fears that some might get forgot with the vast amount of them though. The in universe explanation of why there are so many ties into the lore.

One of the best things is that the main character isn't super OP. He is stronger than most people but there are still threats and he doesn't just one man army all his enemies. Everyone gets a little time to shine.

Giving this a 5 stars for its incredibly worldbuilding and engaging story. The graphics, especially the lighting are kind of weak but show some signs of getting better as the story progresses. The render count is pretty high with scenes location changing frequently enough that it feels like things are happening. The writing is really good in that it feels like the dev trusts the reader to pick up on context clues for learning about the world rather than some shitty isekai exposition dump. Also a reasonable amount of humor that generally works pretty well.

The weakest aspect of the writing is the characters. Most of the characters are good guys and there's very little character drama or conflict aside from a few specific antagonist characters. I'm not into part 2 yet, the MC has like, a dozen women in his harem, and there's very little in the way of personality conflicts or jealousy. Everyone sort of gets a long and loves each other and so most of the interesting writing comes from external threats. At times it feels very boring and there's like, half a dozen maids that just sort of blend together without much to distinguish them. Compare this to say Dungeon Days with a much smaller main cast and every character is filled to the brim with pathos and what feels like high-stakes interpersonal drama.

Game has a heavy emphasis on fantasy worldbuilding, polygamy, and court intrigue, impregnation and exhibitionism. This game probably has the most competent worldbuilding of any fantasy game in the genre and also does the most to justify the otherwise common AVN trope of all the men being dead and the MC having a harem.

Also the magic system and action scenes are generally pretty cool. Combat scenes feel fast and brutal, with high lethality.

Story:
The story is really nice, I enjoy reading it and enjoy getting lost in the world of this VN. From the first Part 1 to the second part update 19d, the fighting, the characters you meet etc. For the beginning of the game it was heavy with sex scenes but is expected from an AVN. At first, it feels like you meet so many Li's right away, but the story does introduce them more and give them more of a background / personality as the story goes on. I will give it a 9.5/10.

Graphics:
I will say the graphics are pleasant, no blur or lack of render. Sure, I will agree they are not realistic to the games I normally like with Daz, but nonetheless they are stunning. The Li's are lovely (or most of them) I will not give negative points for the graphic choice they used. I will be negative about some of the characters, though. I will give it an 8.5/10.

Control / Choices:
I understand that this is the Dev's game, and they have the rights to allow as little or as many choices as they please, but IMO I feel like this game would benefit for adding more choices (1: on allow who you want to be allowed into your harem ( ) but I feel that it is lacking in that regard) (2: Also some choices on who to save or who to kill, there are some good spots to save people even the bad ones, but at times in the first part you kill without question, or you help (even though you should) without a choice which I feel like some want to feel powerful and maybe be evil? Or how you react to certain situations. Like I said, this is the Dev's game after all, and I love where they are going with it. Just some things I think would benefit it more would be more choices in areas. 7.5/10 or an 8/10

Overall:
Very long story, at least a good day or two of play through, and I played for a good 8 hours yesterday since I couldn't quit. If you enjoy action, some drama, love making, breeding, and magic users / medieval times, this is the game for you. Easily an 8.5/10

As of Update 19d:

Surprisingly good and fun game with engaging story and interesting characters. A bit slow-moving at the start and kinda suffers from too much porn at times (I personally got bored by "vanilla sex scene 400") but the more you play, the more you get engaged with the story, the characters and an pretty interesting spin on the "bog standard fantasy world 3000".

I recommend the game wholeheartedly - it has it's flaws and drawbacks, but it's fun, interesting and after a point you are there for the story and characters.

What would I change? Less random vanilla sex scenes, more kinks, a bigger focus on the story itself. A gallery.

The strongest part of The Fiery Scion is the story and worldbuilding.

Vander is a talented writer who has created a truly interesting world with fascinating characters, and put the two together into a great story.

At the same time, he doesn't forget that TFS is supposed to be an AVN, and he naturally balances lots of story with lots of sex.

In a sea of generic AVNs that feel like Patreon-bait, Fiery Scion is one of the unique gems.

The weakest part of TFS is the visuals.

That said, I think this is because Vander focuses on moving the story forward over pretty graphics, which I would say is the right decision for this game.

The graphics are good enough, and Fiery Scion has a lot more content than most AVNs its age.

If you're a fan of medieval fantasy worlds and harem AVNs, definitely give The Fiery Scion a try.

Really good story, very fun with very sexy women. One of my favourite ongoing games on here at the moment. The ending of this update in particular had me go "awww" in disappointment of it being the end of the update! Lol

This is a really great game. The story is interesting and the model is beautiful.

Graphics:
The model is beautiful and the environment is also good. For me, 8/10.

Animation:
The animation is good too, for me 9/10.

Story :
It's interesting. I love being pregnant and having sex with a pregnant woman; it's very hot. For me, 10/10

Character:
The characters are beautiful and have very interesting personalities. For me, 9/10.

Fiery Scion is a fun game to play, in my opinion. I really recommend it. Lastly, I really like milf women, but unfortunately, there aren't any sex scenes.

Great game! Loving it so far. I almost played it nonstop. Am excited to what happens next, also really hope this game gets much longer. It is pretty long but with games like this that I actually enjoy I just want them to go on forever lmao.

Overall, its a decent game, not very memorable but good enough.

- The plot is solid, and the story world is pretty well built. The developer made a good choice not doing info dumps to try and build the story world and instead just getting on with it

- Right now its not polished. There are frequent spelling mistakes, wrong character identifiers and other related issues throughout the VN. Language choice is also not great, but its not quite Engrish at least.

- The MC was hideous for the majority of the VN until relatively recently with the haircut fix

- Zero character development. There are dozens of LI, and every update adds several more. LI are practically only around for sex scenes.

- Most LI are forced, there is seldom an option to be able to reject a character and there are very few choices in general. In the whole VN there are maybe half a dozen choices

- Far to much sex relative to story, the character models are pretty generic and the animations are alright so the sex scenes are not enough to carry the VN

- As a plus, there is a ton of content. Even though this has only been out for 1.5 years it has as much content as most games that have been in development for 2-3x as long

I played through update 16b in a few late evening sessions, and found it hard to stop when bedtime came.

Few authors of this genre go to the trouble of creating a setting that would justify a harem’s existence: it is just taken for granted that the MC has a magic dick, or some such. That is not the case with The Fiery Scion; here the dev has created a rich fantasy world in which establishing a harem is the logical outcome for the MC.

Another thing that I appreciated is that the dev didn’t inject ‘current year’ sensibility into every scene; as many authors do. Imagine the MC casually acquiring a slave girl without having an emotional breakdown, launching into a lecture about ‘slavery bad,’ or vowing to devote their life to emancipation. I found it very refreshing.

This is mainly a kinetic novel; there are few choices for the player to make. I would have appreciated more say on which girls to bring into the harem; especially when it became apparent how large it would become. It is really growing out of control, with the MC spending as much time breaking in new acquisitions as he does keeping his existing stock satisfied. All of this sex leaves little time for story progression, unfortunately.

The biggest negative for me is the look of the game. Some devs do amazing things with HS graphics, but Vander has a long ways to go. His scene lighting, especially, seems poorly done; though I think it improves as the game progresses. He is obviously learning on the job. One thing that comes easy with HS is generating hot women, and there is an abundance of those.

I am glad that I discovered this game, and look forward to future updates.

Vanila Harem Story with good quality.

There is a cursed that make most people to be born as female but you are the main caracter and you are a male and your father was something very powerful (creature). So after you finish becoming a wizzard you start your harem while being a hero.

Just giving a quick review here:
-MC isn't brainless like in most AVNs which is very much appreciated
-Story flows well and is logical
-graphics are a bit dated but plot makes up for it

This game is just great. The visuals are a little outdated, sure, but the girls are still hot. I love the impregnation fetish combined with the wholesome harem and frankly I don't think any AVN does it better. The story is great, the worldbuilding is great, and I love how D&D elements are incorporated but Vander puts a nice spin on them.

There are undoubtedly too many girls, but Vander is doing an admirable job of juggling them. The sex scenes are hot but weren't long enough to satisfy me. The mc has an ugly face but I didn't really mind. Some of the children are obviously just scaled down adult models, which was pretty funny. And as with most AVNs, the game improves substantially past the opening.

If you're into impregnation and harems this is a must play. If not, it's still worth a try.

I don't like harem games. A lot of it is the self-insert aspect that is usually eye-rolling since it's taken to an absurd degree, and I would be remiss to not admit that sharing is a massive turn on for me and the voyeuristic aspect of these games increases the hotness factor as well. Thus, a vanilla harem game that can truly hook me is a rare beast indeed. And that is precisely what we we have here. I love the setting, I love the characters, I don't find the protagonist to be a a bland yet still massively OP stand-in (though the latter half of that statement is true) and I look forward to both the sex scenes AND story scenes.

Positives:
+ Tons and tons of girls with more on the way. The dev also makes sure to make sure each girl gets multiple scenes (some more that others, of course)
+ Fantastic story and characterizations while never forgetting it's still adult entertainment
+ Bush!

Neutral
= An older version of Honey Select means some rough looking graphics (that said, I LOVE the ladies you can make with HS, so there's honestly problem there for me)

Negatives:
- Sometimes long time between boning and story
- No gallery mode

Overall, if you dig harem games, medieval settings and a bevy of hot chicks to ogle and slam all with an engaging story and characters to follow, you are in for a treat.

Note to devs: Outstanding work here. I love just about every thing you've got going here and I cannot wait to see more. While I know sharing is probably out of the question, if we could get the occasional bath scene like we did with Asambe that would be rad.

This game is a 5-star game simply for the amount of content, the setting, and honestly, the most feasible harem setting I've seen in a game on this site, and it kind of inverts real life in terms of how attention is given and received between the sexes, plus I enjoy the fantasy setting and most of the girls are total dimes and I like the vast array of girls you add to your harem.

That said, there aren't really a lot of choices in this VN, I would have hoped to have more say in who I add to my harem, and because there are so many girls, I feel like the ones I want to spend the most time with aren't given enough chance to shine. Obviously, there are more hits than misses on the girls I would like to join my harem, but I feel like there were definitely a few I wouldn't really want and that's okay. Sometimes you have choices, sometimes you don't. All in all, it's a solid game and I can't rate it below five stars because of how much effort the Dev puts into it, I enjoy the setting immensely, I just wish I had more choice in the grand scheme of things, but I understand that that is a ton of work!

It is a well written fantasy harem game. Although the textures and models are relatively low quality and you can see some clipping here and there the animations are good. Can't wait to see how the story develops. Btw there is A LOT of sex the MC is a real horny dog When you read the tags you may already guessed it but it consists of mostly vanilla sex with a slight tendency to impregnation fetish

I really like games with this type of design, that is, based on honey select, and the synopsis looks interesting. I only played the first part but I have things to say.

THE GOOD
There are a variety of characters (Waifus) with which the protagonist can interact, there are many changes of scenery, different arcs within the main story and above all the protagonist is not a chicken when it comes to wanting to fuck women, although this can be duty to the background of their environment.
The female characters are fine, I mean there is variety in terms of personalities and physical characteristics. Above all the scenes, there are a considerable number of +18 scenes that are very good. However...

THE BAD... or not?
There is too much, too much, TOO much text between scenes +18. I mean, what I'm looking for in a +18 game is not just the scenes but a story that hooks me and that has the added bonus of being erotic or sexual. However, in this case, I ate word for word too many times, I did a calculation with a stopwatch, reading all the dialogues between the sexual scenes that there were and the highest range was 30 minutes of reading between those scenes and yes, there are certainly scenes + 18, but I feel like they are too short for the amount of text there is. There are even super unnecessary conversations that contribute nothing to the plot (I don't remember which ones now, I forgot them because they were so boring). It is excellent that the protagonist has the availability to be able to take any woman he wants and certainly there is a kind of route of a good person and a bad person but as for the protagonist, I do not feel malice, that is, I feel he is too righteous in terms of to moral values in a medieval pseudo-apocalyptic world. I mean the protagonist is told marry X woman and he gets too offended and then leaves her saying, I'm not getting married because I don't know her,
when they once gave her a slave and after 5 minutes she already fucked her and DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HER!!

In general the game is good, there are changes of scenery, interesting stories. but it's too much text for something +18. In that case, I better download a book and simply read it, because if there are sexual scenes and there are quite a few, let's say a 7:3 ratio in terms of text vs scenes. Particularly I'm not going to continue with part 2 because I really ate up too much text in this and if the scenes are too short I don't see the point in continuing.

You can play it and have "fun", but be prepared for a large amount of dialogue.

I want to make something clear, I read the reviews today 01/07/24 and I see that many people give 4-5 stars to this game, I'm going to give it 4 because it seems like something well made to me, BUT FROM MY POINT FROM VIEW, I go back and clarify and repeat FROM MY POINT OF VIEW, it seems like a game that tires you too much to a point where you skip dialogues to see those scenes. I personally do not recommend it if what you are looking for is something with an interesting story and a considerable amount of erotic scenes and +18. But if you are looking to read something long and don't pay too much attention to the sexual scenes, then this is your game.

I have to admit, it started off kind of rough but it gets a lot better as it goes. To begin with the downsides, the graphics, particularly the environments and lighting are ugly. They are very grainy, pixelated and there are a lot of errors with the rendering, like shadows appearing as squares and bugging out on some of the characters. Some of the backround art is indiscernible. The game also suffers from being one of the harem games where there are too many girls instead of focusing on the ones you have. In addition, a lot of the girls make it seem that you are some kind of hot stud but I really don't like the look of the MC. He looks... weird. His eyes in particular are really strange looking, like they are shaped in the wrong way for his face.
Another big issue here is that this game seems to be more akin to a kinetic novel than a VN because you hardly make any choices at all. There are I think a total of like 5 choices you can make? Some of them are really minor and I don't even know if they have any effect on the story of the girls. It doesn't feel like you made a choice besides a few lines of dialogue, I dunno I don't like it. Addtionally, if you are here for the sex stuff then you might be dissapointed because it's pretty stock honey select models and sex scenes. Some of the girls look so identical to the others that I get them mixed up. Others are just... weird looking. There's also like 2 sex positions in the entire game that happen so its pretty tame and vanilla.
Now that the bad is out of the way, what makes this game good? I have to say that the story hooked me in pretty good. The world that was built is pretty awesome. I like the fantasy setting with the hints of darker stuff, like the mold zombies and the bandits and such. I also like the setting and it gives a genuine reason for having a harem and why men are attracting bitches like a magnet. I won't spoil it but it's pretty interesting and makes sense. The only thing that I wish was better was that the story was implemented a bit better. You are kind of thrown into the world without knowing anything, and places, deities, events and so on are talked about as if you should know them, but of course you haven't learned about them yet. Some better worldbuilding, both in lore and in terms of scale of the world could help I think. Ultimately, if you want a sex game only then skip it. If you want a juicy story that I think is well written and interesting as well as some sex stuff then play it for sure. Thanks for reading my wall of text.

Really enjoying this one particularly as the creator has put some thought into the look and character of the MC and he isnt the usual generic Honey Select one.

Setting is a bit cliched, and the game does rush the relationships a bit, although at least the lack of men in the setting gives an excuse for that

It's almost the AVN version of one of those Cosy Fantasy novels like Beware of Chicken that have become popular recently.

This is an incredibly safe game, but that's not a bad thing. This game is the equivalent of sitting near a nice fire with a cup of your favorite hot beverage. The high fantasy setting is nice, the women are varied and distinct, and the MC is incredibly competent and sweet to his harem. Of course, he's ugly as sin, but you get used to it.
I also appreciate how the harem system is explained by a curse. Not super original, I know, but it's better than 80% of porn protags who screw their way through entire households without slowing down. All in all, The Fiery Scion is a nice break from all the more hardcore games on this site. A cottage-core porn game in a way.
