The future of Japan Adult Games are worries me...

In the past, I was quite enthusiastic about checking ryuugames or anime-sharing every few days to see what new and interesting things were up, but for the past few months, I've only been disappointed.

Day by day, a significant number of games, manga, and CGs using AI-generated imagery are becoming increasingly popular on these websites, making my interests seem dull.

Not all old games are great, or at least suitable for me, but I still find more enjoyment in games created by human hands, regardless of their quality.

I feel like real Japan Adult games are dying, slowly replace by fake one. Is this the end?

The adult game industry has always struggled to agregate talent/capital for big projects, compensating with AI to make up for the fact that the industry is almost completly single devs or small studios is only natural. This all but ensures they'll rush to adopt AI faster than most other industries

It's not the end.

It's just that A.I. can be pumped out way faster than anything man-made. You're going to see A.I. products showing up way before the man-made ones. Some of us old stubborn jerks will still make man-made games, manga, animations, etc. It's just a matter of patience and staying on the look out for them, my friend.

Also, don't be disappointed by the tool (A.I.). Be disappointed by the people who use the tool, expecting it to do all the work.

Adult games were already in trouble. The gooner attitude (not really caring about the quality of a game so long as it has your kinks in it) feeds right into the generative AI grifting bubble. It leads to people wanting more rather than wanting better quality games. Inundating them with generated text, images, music &c can allow a single dev to crank out dozens of identical disposable trash games and if you read posts from people who're excited by AI you realize that's what they want.

Some of them believe that the quality will come if we just invest a trillion-billion more dollars and construct 300,000 more data centers, but most don't even care that it's slop. As long as it ticks the boxes they'll lap it up.

Actual artists and fans have to keep advocating for art, even the stuff we get off to, because the people behind AI and the people who gleefully let it make decisions for them are fine with destroying culture to maybe squeeze a few dollars as the empire collapses.

i like ai art so the future has never looked better to me. almost all major companies use ai in some way and it will only increase in the future. so im celebrating ive never had so many games to play as i do now tbh

Restaurants are running the gooner model now, too. See: ghost kitchens. Brand names and knockoffs are produced in the same factories. Flooding the world in junk, and pricing it in a tier to give the appearance of a quality hierarchy when it's all the same stuff, is the gooner attitude. It doesn't need to be something you actually like so long as there's more of it. Who cares where it comes from so long as there's always something at the slop buffet.

This gets so pervasive that people will, like you're doing, phrase having any standards whatsoever as cringe. It literally is important to support genuine perverts who actually get what your kink is about. If you don't you may look around one day and see that there's nothing but slop churned out by grifter goon farms using programs that aren't even ripping off the original sources anymore - two or three steps removed from anyone who understood what you actually get off to in an ero game.

Maybe some obvious bias incoming but if your concern is a blanket "things are using ai which is bad", then I'd echo the sentiment that it's really more about what you do with it than the fact that you've used it at all. There are a metric ton of absolute garbage AI games, where all the characters are walking around with broken limbs, 7 fingers, and 3 bellybuttons, for sure. But people who take pride in their work are always going to do their best work possible, whether that be with AI or any other flavor of the month tool.

As another user said, in the not-distant-at-all future, almost every game, whether it be porn or sfw, will have used AI in some capacity, with wildly different results, and you'll have people that give it 1 star regardless because "ai bad", and others who review it normally like they'd review any other game.

Ironically, I used to filter out any and all games marked with "ai cg", looking down on the masses from my high horse. Then I played some actually competent games that used AI and changed my tune a bit.

We can understand the idea of "as long as something that vaguely resembles what I want is flashing on the screen I can use it" and how that's spread beyond yorking it to the point where we're now dealing with a reality where everything is the same gooner slop no matter what label they put on it or how much they charge for it.

So i saw many people support using AI (for art) in current Japan Adult Games atlest in this topic, the most fair point i could agee is AI will and can do better. What worries me is the current quality of those, just look at the uncanny color or super bright skin tone and you will know it make by souless AI. If people use AI just spam those lesser fast food product for fun in 1 month or 1 year then it will not impact Adult Games much but what if it continue like that for 5-10 years? Everyone will slowly think those souless art is standard and that will eventually kill true art which equal backward step for humanity.

There has always been and always will be shit games. Sometimes made with shit art by shit artists. I think you're too hung up on the "spirit" of putting pen to paper, like something made with AI is instantly bad while something made without it is instantly good. I promise you if I re-did my game with real art, drawn by me, nobody would play it or even know what anything is supposed to be.

For that matter, a lot of the big money making AI games (Starmaker Story for example) still hire actual artists and animators, because holy shit is it difficult to get AI to do exactly what you want it to do. There are so many ideas I have to abandon completely because the checkpoint just fundamentally doesn't understand the concept I'm talking about.

Meh, feel like venting, and here is at least a little fitting.

There certainly is one less hope for Japanese games, which is Doubles*Core - a circle I had hopes in, but with just one new game, they utterly destroyed that.
So lame, less-than-mediocre, boring, to outright bad, technical bad design everywhere, with even poor visuals on-top.

Their strongest point was one (or maybe even two) of their writers, who were good with dialogues and at least one of them repeatedly able to cause expectations (both good and bad) and then undercut them in really unexpected ways.
Those seem to have left, and the ones who stayed are the ones who also in the past wrote bullshit.

But also everything else is ... half-baked, idiotic, and: I am all for inclusion, but maybe not let the 100% deaf guy choose the music that is used in every date / chat and maybe even elsewhere.

Even in a game as Flore Hades that music got annoying very fast, but there at least it fitted in with the general theme of idiocy.
