VN - Ren'Py - The Inn [Ch. 2 v1.01.04] [Lykanz]

Yeah, this is a classic ton of potential, all of it squandered situation.

Graphics? As far as the world goes, if this was a few years ago, I'd say good. Now? Out of date and vastly underwhelming. As far as characters are concerned, you have the classic pretty faced girls and troll looking MC who somehow gets all the girls. It's a cliché that I really wish would pass on. I mean, come on, it's no that hard to spend a little time making a believably decent looking guy.

As far as bodies go, it's like 50/50. Some girls look good and have realistic/attractive bodies, others not only need to find a gym but suffer from the incredibly unattractive trope of having beach balls for breasts. The MC isn't perfect either, his body is nice, but his dick is ever-changing, and it's kind of off-putting. In some scenes, it looks normal and has a decent size, in others it's randomly a lot smaller, and in some it looks like it was put through a roller made for metal pipes with how exaggerated the curve is on it. It looks gross.

Animations? Not only lacking in the overall quantity, but the quality and variety leaves something to be desired, as well.

Writing? Definitely not my cup of tea. The constant fourth wall breaks are immersion shattering, cringy, and just plain annoying. As far as memes go... Jesus Christ. Look, I can respect a well-placed meme in a game here and there. This game, however, is 50 percent memes, 50 percent everything else. It's - to repeat a word I just used - cringy as hell and feels like a teenager wrote it. For a game that claims itself to be adult oriented, the immature writing style is just really off-putting.

Also, it's funny how just before the game starts, you are given a little popup explaining what a nukige is (basically a story focused on making the player cum, not on actually telling a story) and telling you that this game is not going to be like that, yet not even a couple of days after meeting the first heroine in Linda, you're getting sexual with her. Great way to stick to your guns, author, the 'plot' has been thrilling thus far. Who needs relationship build up in a nukige game, right? Let's just get right into the action! Oh, wait... this isn't supposed to be one... well shit.

You're also given a huge house and lots of money to be able to help renovate it, yet for the first while you're just locked in Linda's house and are forced to follow her around like a lost puppy, it's really annoying. Like, don't tease a management system and free-roam/sandbox gameplay then hard lock me on rails right after.

Look, I think the game has potential, it just isn't for me. If you like high school level humour and writing with instant sex gratification and no story/character development whatsoever, then this game is for you.

I'd say the game is pretty good and the art isn't bad. The only critique would be how hard the MC seems to work to find his Lis girlfriends of their own. The threesome vibe is too central as girls who love you start throwing other women the MC's way and never worry that it might backfire. Fetish works in moderation not when you can see it coming from a mile away. The game works better especially when the one on one scenes are happening and make up for the silliness of the rest of it. Worth a play for sure.

Anyway, the main selling point of this game are the animations, they're crisp, they're clean.
The plot looks very basic, but I'm no plot guy so whatever.
The game looks very promising, the HS shader looks nice, it's not going to revolutionize the adult game genre, but so far it does its job and it does it very well.

I remember playing this game even when it hadn't remastered yet, it was good time, I love this game since then . And now seeing it getting better and better, I'm very hype about that.

Good story line, great sense of humor , I laugh my ass off a lot.
Beautiful girls, each of them have unique characters, although I don't like big boobs lol.
Nice renders, especially the gallery in extra.

First things first, let's get this out of the way. This game looks great. Seriously, the presentation and animations are stellar, some of the best I've seen, and all the characters look great. Just enough variation between them to help differentiate, while also giving them all a consistent style.
The story itself is a little standard, classic down-on-his-luck dude gets randomly chosen to inherit a house by a old plot devic- I mean, old gentleman, and then wacky hijinks and naughty situations ensue. The humor in this is what kept me interested and laughing throughout, even if some of the jokes don't land, and the 4th wall breaking was a little too much at times. And it seems to have been used less as I got later in the game, so hopefully this is a nonissue.
My only real complaints are
1. There's not enough!!! Just as I was getting really invested into the story, the content ends! Considering the game has been out for almost 4 years now, I felt like there should be more, but at least what game there is is great. Don't know if this is due to life problems or a lack of motivation on the creators part, but while I don't want things rushed, it does feel a little too slow for my liking. This is more a personal complaint than any measure of the quality of the game though, so take it as you will.
2. I hope that we don't just keep getting girls thrown at the MC, until suddenly he's trying to bang so many chicks that it takes forever not only to play though it, but make in the first place! Feature-creep is a real problem in any game, and I'd rather a tight cast of really well done characters than another game where you bang 15 different women, with personalities as deep as a puddle.
3. Lastly, there's only one animation I thought was extremely weird, That was the only animation I thought could use some tweaking.
Overall, I really enjoyed my time with The Inn, and only wish there was more of it for me to enjoy!! Keep up the great work Lykanz, and I eagerly await further updates to his game!

If you are looking for a game with the dumbest amount of shit to make you laugh constantly, infinite amount of pop culture references and parodies, you are in the right place.

The renders are pretty smooth and the game constantly breaks the 4th wall. Even when its not breaking the wall its gonna be making snarky remarks about visual novel cliches. Overall a solid experience.

Graphics - 1/10 Dated very poor quality graphic style.

Animations - 2/10 Animations may be smooth but there are few of them.

Story - 3/10 Nothing really creative about it. The usual MC bangs the female side of the family story. This one does go rather fast on that part.

Writing - 5 /10 There is some humour, although there are errors in the writing. The usual did not look over the writing before putting it out to the public.

Overall Feel - 4/10 Not that it is completely uninteresting, or no effort is put into the story/game. It just feels cheap and rather amateur overall.

It's about time this style of graphics went the way of the dinosaur, it is not appealing, looks very messy and cheap. There are better styles, if this game was redone with one of these better styles it would likely be more interesting.
More effort should be put into the quality of this Story/game, then it would likely attract more patrons.

I dunno what i can say. There isnt that much story yet, The Inn itself is not done, but the story so far has been reaaaally good.
I like the personalities of the characters, i like how there is more than one layer to them. "Big fit lady stereotype? almost breaks into tears when she is alone with MC because keeping that "everything is fine, im here" attitude is emotionally draining, even for her."
Same with others, but i don wanna spoiler here, since i know some people check the reviews first.
There seems the game is gonna have a lot of mechanics, so looking forward to see what the dev is gonna make.
So far.. YES, give the game a try and bookmark it, seems its gonna be a big game!.

MusicFruit said it best in his review- the 4th wall breaks, meme references, and overall bleh humor bogs down the writing a lot, and on a visual note, the main character looks like a sleep deprived frog on anesthesia. I know OP probably didn't make the models, but it's so out of place when the female characters look like anime girls (likely intentional with the Re:Zero and Initial D references) with their pointed jaws, big eyes, and cute expressions. I can at least praise the decision making despite the relative linearity, as it feels natural in most situations as opposed to the usual VN morality system of "slap stranger's ass (evil)" vs "ignore slappable ass (saint)". Sometimes the consequences (stat-wise) didn't make much sense, but overall it's a pretty alright game that could use a fresh model, a lot of writing tweaks in the introduction, and a bit more meat on its bones. All said, I can't wait for more updates to improve the game that much more.

good characters art and story. It doesnt take itself too seriously and thats honestly one of the best parts. Also its the best humor iv seen in a porn game but that entirely subjective.

as of writing this their is a medium amount of content, but thats due to the dev still working, so not really something to complain about.

The sandbox element is a bit pointless as of now, but as the game continues i assume it will matter more bouncing between the refurbished inn ops original home etc.

Went in expecting sexy muscle girls and cute freckled redhead and wasn't disappointed. What I wasn't expecting was to find tons of tasteful memes and a new chubby weeb waifu.

Excellent visuals, story and UI.

But now I have to live with the fact that I chose a girl wearing an aheago sweatshirt over a hot MILF, and that's something I haven't came to terms with just yet.

Do you like memes? Do you like 4th wallbreaks every 3 minutes? Do you like choices that are nothing else then points, which are clearly labeled, so it makes any redundant? Do you like stupid faces and bland low level humor? Then is this game absolutely for you!

I don't even know if there is what kind of gameplay there is, because the writing was so horribly that I didn't come so far, but other people mentioned there is no grind. Therefore I assume there is gameplay.

The graphics are really good. The animations not so much. Yes they are smooth, but you can see that there is no contact. The handjob looked like she was stroking the air around his dick.

Also everything is in your face. You've met a girl, she is instantly into you and gave you a handjob in under two days of knowing each other. It's also incredible on the nose that every female family member you is into you. Yes, it is an 'not'-incest game, we all know that they will come along, but it is so obvious it takes all the fun of an build up and takes the satisfaction away. (to be fair, I didn't come that far, but I already lost all hope for that.

Honestly I would like to give just 1 star, because I think this game is horrible, but that would be unfair. I can see that people could like it, even with it flaws if you share the same humor as the author. So, maybe still give it a try.

The game builds a great premise by the aspects of graphic, story, relationship and fun gameplay with no grind. But while it has a great premise it has very little content.

The amount of content would be normal for such a quality game but the sad thing is, I could write this review 2 years ago and my conclusion still would be same, good premise with little content. I commend the developer for not giving up and I hope we start getting some content soon.

I really enjoyed the game and it would be a shame if such a gem joins the abandoned ones.

While I am still relatively early on in this game, I can't help but give it nothing but compliments. Some of the lines and situations thus far have made burst out laughing in a good way.

For me when it comes to Honey Select games there's no real middle ground, either they're low effort trash or they're amazingly fun and addictive. By now I've tried quite a large number of HS games and I can safely say The Inn not only falls on the latter, but is one of the best I've played.

The thing that immediately stands out as soon as you begin are the renders. The developer is clearly very skilled with HS and knows what he's doing - from animations, to lighting, to poses, to hand gestures and character expressions, the attention to detail is nothing short of super impressive - in fact, you'd be hard pressed to find another HS game with better renders. I'm not going to comment too much on the story as I'm still in the early stages, but so far so good - it's well paced with decent writing and the humor captures quite a few laughs and giggles. The characters (girls) not only look great, but most importantly they all have well written personalities that is skillfully expressed through a combination of well-timed, exceptionally rendered scenes and quirky dialogues.

So yeah, despite minimal time spent with The Inn, it has already left a good enough impression on me to come here on this forum to give a 5 star rating and write a positive review (which I rarely do). Like other HS favorites of mine such as Once in a Lifetime, Now & Then, Depravity, and Ripples, this is a gem I'm willing to put on hold for a while till it's complete.

This is easily one of the best Visual Novel i ever played and i can swear i played a lot of them: it's very clear the developer it's experienced and has some skills. Judging by the averange level of other visual novels the technical department is top notch: renders are very good and i really liked the animations; probably the only downside is the story: this game doesn't shine with originality, i've seen other games with very similar plot (i can't mention them, forum rules). Anyway for me it's still 5 stars and probably it's woth doing a subscription since the developer seems to work consistently on the game.

The Inn delivers a packed and engaging amount of story content, which while might come off as over the top at first, grew on me and at the end of my current playthrough, left me wanting for more.

Overall an interesting story so far with visually appealing characters and a good choice of music with jokes and scenes that made me laugh. I look forward to future developments of the Inn.

I love pretty much everything about this game. Great animation, good story line threaded with a lot of oddball humor, innuendo and fantasy. Story kind of seems to be meandering a bit, but this game is still young, which is a good thing, as I'd like to see this story continue to grow and meander however the author feels it should meander - take us wherever you want friend, I'm down for the scenic route!

+ Amazing Details (Virtually all scenes look good with a different frame with position or animation of face and body, this makes the characters and the world around them much more alive)

+ Easy Gameplay (It is not at all complex, in fact it helps you a lot with information and also tips, I would say that it is really unnecessary walkthrough)

+ Good Content (It has good content, it manages to get you a lot with the story and the characters making you spend hours admiring)

+ Beautiful and Sexy Girls (All of them are beautiful and each one has its own style, so for the player to choose their favorite: Milf, Tomboy, Cute and Sexy)

+ Good Writing (Easy to understand without many complications)

+ Good Humor (The humor inside The Inn is always welcome, you can become more and more familiar with playing, it’s not something exaggerated so it doesn’t get in the way)

Overall: The Inn is a game more different than I have seen, it manages to innovate a lot by making clichés in incredible content, almost everything in the game is well worked and hard, scenarios, animations, models, humor ... It is a lively and creative game. Lykanz is proof that there are creators who create their projects with love and care, not just thinking about money and doing it anyway. If you think about playing, go ahead and have fun, I believe you will not be disappointed.
