VN - Ren'Py - The King of Summer [v0.6.5-early] [No Try Studios]

Before of making this review I'm gonna be honest
I don't like the NTR, in fact I hate the NTR.
But i can appreciate when a game even if have things that I don't like it so much, it could be a good story and The king of summer is a good example of that.
The game is a twisted adventure watching the NTR in different situations, honestly I was very surprised watching how despite of having the role of "the stealer" Kendo is actually a very good character, the author really shows you the evolution about the corruption of each girl in the game and even with that, sometimes opens the door to "wholesome" moments (a example is the storyline of Hanako, which even with the "twisted" ending, is still the story where shows you the best face of Kendo in the situation) and the rest of the girls are entertaining to read in his way to the corruption and the game shows you the reasons to that transformation instead of just "kendo big chad used his magical dick"
and ofc the another best part of the game is that the sex scenes are very good, hot and very creative, works so much like a nukige too.
The only "bad things" that I've found is that is not a easy read.
specially when you are in the final parts of the kendo route or all the content related to Arato.
Like literally the best ending of Satoshi is the ending where he's alone, so if you can't stand this type of things then the game is not gonna be for you and you gonna be upset in a lot of parts, but if you don't care about that then enjoy, aside of NTR, is really a good story about corruption and cheating.
I hope to see more and watching the evolution of the creator, have a lot of potential.

Gameplay:
Mostly kinetic VN
The first part is pretty straightforward, without much choices. Then, you have some kind of sandbox where you decide which event you want to do, either raising a "stat", or progressing the story or progressing a specific character. At some points, you may take a crucial decision to get to an end or continue the main story.

Story:
This one is a really good story about cheating and NTR relations. There is a bit of a prologue that set the main characters (the young couple and the uncle), and give an idea that the uncle will form his harem... Well, that's not the point here. The story turns out to be much deeper with conflicts of relations, jealousy and envy from the various protagonists. There is some kind of humor and tragedy in it. Good writing.

Graphics/Animation:
Pretty good rendering and animations. I love the way the author place the camera to serve his story, and also to hide things a let our imagination do the rest. This is better than usual plain angle.

Sound/Music
A background music, and more sound as the story progress. Serve the purpose well.

Overall impression:
So, if you are allergic to cheating and NTR, you may be really upset with this game, but it is also the purpose here. I was really surprised with the story that is much more complex than what I thought it was. Dialogues are well written and not boring. It's also a counter-balance to all games that have some super-manly-kind-MC that hit every women on the game where no other male seems to exist. Here, there is a variety of "men" usually lacking in many games.

Really an underrated game that doesnt deserve the 3.7 score it currently has. The characters are all meaningful witht their own stories and thought process. The ntr is done really well with the secret and mystrious portion of the plot. the sex scenes are not dull. highly recommended.

Man, this game might be my favorite in terms of Hidden Sex, it really explores it sooo freaking much with different LI, and most of the time, it's usually under some heavy NTR games, but I love the Kendo Path, and right now, I really like the theme event, the family camp, and now the festival, it's really long, but it's really good as well,I wish this continue for a bit more and more of these kind of event gets added.

I only played the game last week, I know of it since it got release here, I just didn't bother checking it out, cause I know it's main theme is NTR, but I was wrong and at the same time, glad that I only played it recently, so I can binge it out until I get all the content I want, except for the Arato route, I don't like him one single bit, so anything about him, I just ignore, and I'm really happy that his route is completely done, I don't want any content from him XD

Well Done to the Dev, really good story and really exciting scenes

This is Definitely Top Tier Game only for these CG's that are Awesome. Plot is also good going smoothly not too fast not too slow, characters are very well made for NTR. Except I would suggest Kendo be a bit younger, he does not look like in his 50s, but early 40s or around it and it would be better for future because we are not in absolute fantasy world I guess where you can stay young till 100+ years. Game of course will not go in future relationship after the END, but for imagination of what their relationship will be and as good prospective.
Then there is many routes, just vanilla with MC avoiding ntr, but didn't try, but probably you can't absolutely avoid lewds with other guys.
Then Kendo route which is main route of this game is I would say Lovey-dovey NTR route
While Arato is Darker NTR route, but nonetheless with such hot girls, not bad plot and good CG's it can't go wrong and it certainly deserves 5 Stars.
+ I Hope In Future updates this game will get a fix with moans during CG's while now there are moans for some, but others don't have.
If worried of people don't like those moans making a mute option on it, Disable/Enable. While now, if you really want moans you can get in game>audio folder and put sexvoice or repeat during CG's.

Simply a masterclass. I see a lot of complain with Arato character, it means it's a good characters cause he is here to be straighforwardly annoying and that's what is better when the moment comes if you know what I mean. And let's be honest Kendo is annoying too, just in a less straightforwardly way. That's what a good NTR story is about.

Yeah Arato is annoying, but I just did his first let's say real sex scene with Mary and it was honestly better than with Kendo. All the build up before the sex with Kendo was great but once she fall she directly fell hard. So it's good to have a different approach with Arato with a more classic NTR approach.

NTR is about bastards, I understand Arato is annoying but Kendo is too. Author did a good job with Arato if peoples complain, you shouldn't really like the guy who NTR in these sorts of game, that's what it's all about, the more you hate, the better it becomes.
And with spoiler alert : at least Satoshi get something on this route.

On the bugs side, nothing majors just wrong name and sometime wrong synthax

Too much description imo in h-scenes, just the characters thinking is plenty enough, description is a bit anticlimactic, it breaks the rythm

This one is really all over the place, the pacing leaves a lot to be desired and I don't really get what the author is trying to do with Kendo and Mary. In NTR you can have a plot without a "bad guy" but the way things progressed here is just kinda dark for them to ever be able to be rehabilitated. The pacing is quite bad too with a ton of dialogue stretching things out. I get building up characters and whatnot but the writing just isn't very good, it feels like watching what a high schooler things people sound like on a first date, they just sorta talk about sports and drink beer but none of it really builds them up or anything it all just feels like filler. I think there's something good here but I don't see it personally, maybe if the whole thing was trimmed down a bit and reworked but I'm not really asking for that.

Renders were pretty good, esp Mary, liked the spin on Kendo's character, and Satoshi fulfills his role well, otherwise story is nothing much but serviceable, but not really engrossing enough to have routes. Which only serves to make Arato twice as insufferable; because Kendo's content is more or less complete all content updates boils down to more Arato stuff. And he's very unlikable. No real redeeming qualities and no idea why the author keeps pushing him.

Game was a solid 4/5 all the way till Arato was introduced. This character single-handedly killed this game, even without doing his route you still have to suffer with seeing his lame ass character constantly. Idk what the dev was thinking making this character but I've never played a game that was this solid take an absolute nosedive in quality due to a SINGLE character. Kendo should have remained the only ntr antagonist. Do not reccommend

I played the game and enjoyed it quite a bit at first, which is why it could possibly have received a 4 to 5-star rating. I was hoping for more scenes of Kendo and Mary where Satoshi comes close to finding them, but doesn't. Especially once Kendo and Mary finally go all the way, it would have been nice to have more scenes. Even the side girls were fun to see.

But what really drops the rating 2 whole stars for me is the
Arato stuff. I really disliked the character, and I'm guessing you are supposed to. But once he shows up, it feels like the game is less about Mary and Kendo, and more that Mary is just sleeping with every guy introduced. Feels like the game loses focus.

Just wish they had stuck with the Mary Kendo stuff with the chance of going after the side girls for more levels.

Im not too much into NTR games but still decided to give It a try

It is a bit long in order to finish all of it but if u just want get to the fun part you can just skip most of the dialogue at the start of the novel till the h-scenes start dropping like rain

The story is pretty ok, nothing really new but its enough to get you interest in it.

The girls are really good, the main one Mary is wonderfull (when It comes to her h-scenes) and Im fond of Rin and Hanako.

This is a solid VN, not something like a masterpiece but Its an ok one either if you want just to relieve yourself or if you want to read something to pass time.

Talking about the routes I just hated playing the Arato one, I just dont like this Character and I feel like hes not really needed (but maybe thats bc Im not really fond of this genre)

If you like NTR you will definetly enjoy It, If you dont, I still think It is worht It to at least see the h-scenes! Some of them are really good.

This is a very linear game with the most cliche porn logic you will find. I have to admit that i didn't get very far in playing this as i couldn't be be bothered to read through another scene where the girl cums just from someone groping her ass, but i had seen enough to say that the writing is uncreative nonesense. The characters are ok, but the graphics and animations are not hot enough to justify the plot.

If you are really into ntr and don't mind missing logic, then this might be good for you as there seems to be a lot of content. Otherwise, don't waste your time.

Leaving a review because I noticed this game just had ANOTHER update.

The King of Summer came out in November 2022, and is still being updated to this day. In my whole hearted opinion, this game should've been finished a year and a half ago. The author is deeply in love with his work and won't let it go.

Once the main girl got NTR'ed, more girls were added to the point where this puts highschool dxd to shame as a harem anime. It's like a never ending chocolate water fountain at a school prom, except you've been eating from this fountain for a few years.

Like I just read a review from another guy who said he has 25 PAGES of saves. At some point you have to realize that there is such a thing as too much content.

EDIT: Just noticed the author liked my review so looks like he does read these reviews. I wanna say I really did enjoy this game even though it sounds like I'm tearing into it. Thanks for all that you do.

what a fucking game

the girls, their body, the sound effect, the moaning, the kissing, the animations, the plots, and i didnt expect the switch from kendo to arato, which means even more plots!
personally i like how its very easy to navigate around with arrow keys, which means its one handed friendly
i currently have 25 pages of saves, not sure how many more spicy scenes i will have to save

This one is like My Girlfriend Is A Blue-Collar Worker, but without all the hassle of making the characters likable or their motivations unselfish in order to believably redeem them in later arcs. Fuck these insufferable characters, especially Mary and Kendo, but most of all fuck the time I've wasted.

It just doesn't know when to stop.

If this is your first experience, then it's easily a 4/5.
If you follow the project since its inception... It's too much and starts crumbling on itself.
TKoS is a great NTR game. One of the best you can find on this website. So, why 2 Stars ?

Well, this game, at first, was a perfect sized chocolate cake. I love chocolate cake.
Then, it became a family size chocolate cake. I'm a gourmet, so I tried to eat it whole, but felt sluggish afterward. Yummy tho.
And then, it became an XXL ++ Over Chocolate cake.... I can't eat anymore man. Just give me another dish, it's overcooking at this point.

The overall plot is fun and entertaining for a time, but after a while, it's a chore to keep going.

Side characters get so much content that there could be a spin-off around them.
The main story with Mary could have been ended multiple times. There are, in fact, early endings available, but it's clear the dev doesn't want it to stop, and it was just a halt to add more content.

Look, I really enjoyed this game, but sometime "less" is better than "more".

I just can't eat TKoS cake anymore. It's too big for me.

King of summer is a very good game, it has tons of h-scenes , great animation , good cast and alot of NTR

This games has good buildup before the real sex starts but when it starts it goes really heavy on all types of position'
There is a huge cast of charachters and many routes to choose from and each route has its own endings to choose from.

I do like most charachters, you have standard MC Satoshi which seems both clueless and care for his own interest ( that hits kinda close to home ) , so the reason for his cucking is not just standard having small dick and girl find bigger dick........ well its half of that but other half beeing his own inability to meet the girl halfway. He also has points where he learns from this and try to better

The girls are the best part , Mary beeing the main focus and getting the most scenes she has huge breasts , high libido and tiny bikini. She also is quite cute and is really nice

Shizuka is one of my faves, she is both inteligent, cute, and very seductive alot of routes is with her in it and we get alot of swinging and NTR from it which is the best part of game to me.

Other girls is also quite nice but the review would never end if i where to comment everyone

MC has no use to for either the plot or the player. Give him a role already. Make him a cuck, make him brake up with girl while watching his ex girl embraced by others, get him killed, make him loose his mind, turn him into sissy or even transform him into a full blown female and make him join the bulls harem... Do something with him man, or remove him already.At some point i started to consider uncle as the main protaganist.

Couple hours of patiently reading, i started to hold ctrl.

Uninteresting, bland koikatsu models with clipping issues. H-scenes and animations are barely enought to be middiling.

Completely and utterly useless sandbox. It serves no purpose other than having the tag. Without choice and any kind of action why bother with sandbox. Tag it with KN and all will be well.

I gave this game multiple tries. I really wanted to love it but cant. Unlikable characters and insanely boring writing making me sick whenever i launch this game.

And lastly i have a personal problem. I like NTR games with a competend MC. This is way more satisfying imo. Dumb MC plots are destroying the realism elements of a game soo much its not even funny. I aint expect %100 realism ofc. But i need some sense of resemblence, heavy effort to make it more and more real. But no. A very dumb MC with small dick and can only fuck his girlfriend a single round before passing out. Like, really? Dude, this guy is very young person. Cmon. We are not DUMB, dev. Dont dare to tell me a young boy like that cannot go second, third or more rounds with how horny and full of energy they have. OFC the bulls can go alll night despite their ages, level of stamina. Dont care they were delinquets in their past. Do dumb, so unrealistic.

The points above makes NTR aspects of the game soo cheap. Bulls arent even trying. The hate towards that MC model, sluttiness and overyle naivety of heroines adds up and you got yourself a very easy pick for bulls. What is the point of stealing a candy from a baby. Unsatisfying. Not a ounc of figting back. Too ez for it to have any kind of impact.

Well, im ranting rn. Im sorry but that was the last time i gave this game a chance. Hoping it to change but i dont that will happen.

Dont reccoment it even if you are into NTR genre.
