It's usually simplified to cuckholding here. NTR is from japanese netorare. It's about your/MC's significant person he loves/cares about being taken by another male. Here if there is another male in a game that can get your girls it will be consider to be NTR. I'm a fan of that as it gives more tension and realism into a game which mostly are really silly incest-harem style and simple to start with. But different kinks for different people

You don't have to be a wimp to notice it in real life. Most people (every?) liked/loved someone during their life and are not with this person. Don't believe "everything" you read on the Urban Dictionary. There's a lot of inaccuracies.

The term "cuckold" traditionally refers to the husband of an unfaithful wife and doesn't refer to any other party. It's usually a term of derision because the adultery is common knowledge but the husband has done nothing about it, there for he is a "cuckold".

NTR or "netorare" refers to a genre of story where a female partner is unfaithful to their husband/boyfriend/close friend or any version of that dynamic, usually with the male partner being the story's protagonist.

It doesn't necesarilly has to be unfaithfulness. Male emotions are crucial and he has to deeply care about female but she doesn't have to be with him in any sense. Here is one of the new NTR games which is pretty traditional when it comes to NTR -
