What the hell do you think everyone else who makes games dose, magically pay their artists in peanuts. Yes, they cost money, if you don't have it, how's that, didn't you get money from your funding phase or did you spend that thinking it was your payment or something. Cause had you been like all the other successful game makers you would have used it to pay your artist, if you think you are supposed to make money before you have a product to sell, then you fall under the new generation of the exceptionally lazy, naive, or stupid.

Don't call yourself a company if you can't practice proper business ethics, we call taking money from any fund in a company that is funded through payments from investors Embezzlement, and it can get you prison time. lucky for you crowd funding makes it hard for any such judicial actions to be taken against you.

YES! It's called INVESTMENT! It costs money to make games, which you then recoup when they are finished and people buy them. You're a scammer because you drum up hype about games that you never finish by your own admission.
Oh yeah, good. Next time I will go in debt just to finish a game nobody cares about. Thanks.
Also, it's only INVESTMENT if i get my money back, which I woudn't since this game was selling NOTHING at all.
If I don't get it back, it's just LOSS.

People just didn't like the theme, and maybe were put off by the zombie girl. That's life, it happens.

I can’t speak for other developers — everyone has their own setup. Some work solo, some make low-cost 3D games, and others have revenue-sharing agreements with artists. But in my case, I’m currently paying three artists and a writer.

I simply can’t afford to keep pouring resources into a game that isn't performing well. It was generating only 10% of our revenue while consuming nearly 50% of our budget. That’s not sustainable.

Also, just to be clear — when exactly did I take your money? There are only two ways to support my work:

  • SubscribeStar – where you’re not purchasing a product, you’re choosing to support the development of all our games. In return, you get perks like early access and voting rights on certain content.
  • Steam – where our games are sold in Early Access, and you can request a refund at any time if it’s not for you.

That’s it. No tricks, no pressure, nothing hidden.

Good to have Whiteleaf Studio active on the thread, that's always nice to discuss the game development. And I want to preface this that you don't owe anyone here (a pirate site) anything. It's a business decision that can be justified, although I disagree with your analysis.

Game development is typically an investment, you develop the game and you release it once it's over and get the sales revenue over time. That requires an ability to invest funds initially. What you seem to be looking after is recurring subscriptions and pre-orders/early access on Steam? People don't pre-order when they don't know much about the game they're buying because it lacks content, and people won't be keen to subscribe when they see games being dropped all of a sudden, with an overall short length. No reason at all to be invested in your games, and it's not the first of your games that has felt rushed.

Nah, I have other games like Family Breeding that has been a success in early access, and it still keeps making me money now. This game has been a failure from the beginning, never gaining traction.
I'd argue this is more of a marketing issue. "Family Breeding" is extremely explicit so anyone looking for this fetish will find the game and be interested. "The Necromancer Arises" won't attract the easy crowd at all and would require great reputation and word of mouth to reach high numbers.

The more you build a world, characters, an interesting storyline... the more interest and loyalty you will get. How are the most popular games on this platform? Not short and rushed, I'll tell you, and not all of them had instant success from the start. When you start a new game, you want your (hopefully growing) fanbase to follow, not lose interest because you half-assed the previous games. Half your games are now marked as "Abandoned" in F95.

How popular could The Necromancer Arises have become? We'll never know. I think it was off to a really nice start and promised to have a lot of content in the future, like we had only scratched the surface. The kind that could have drawn a lot more interest on this site with time.

Anyway, good luck with your future games. Tamas Awakening was pretty good, but it's gone downhill from there.

I agree, which is why I won't be doing games like The Necromancer Arises anymore. I'll focus on what is bringing me money, which is easy to digest games like Family Breeding or "My Demon Family", which short, contained stories.

Like I said, I let this game story grow too big, which was a mistake. I should have focused on the incest and finished it long ago.
I won't be making such mistake again.

sorry if i came off a little strong in my other comments, you just seem like you come off as one of these people who think they should get paid to develop a game instead of developing a game to make money. might sound the same but it's not. I do see now what happened with your game, you didn't do proper investment budget analysis before continuing with the development of the game after your initial funding. had you done that you could have budgeted the development better, via cheaper commissions and such.

and I played the versions you put here; I haven't played the finished product. I'm not going to pay for something that I feel I'll be sadly disappointed in after paying it. As someone who dose sell their own creative works, light novels, I can tell you that I get funded by investors and they count every cent I spend. To which they would own my ass if I didn't have a receipt for everything.

Word of advice, don't play it. I had the game on Steam since launch, and after witnessing the ending, it's a different game

Wait, why is this game tagged as abandoned, lol?
It has a finish.
Probably because it was rushed but to be honest even if it's rushed, completed is completed. Maybe, thinking of options, because no one shared the final version so effectively abandoned in this forum unless someone does share last version

Another case where the mustard tag is like the points in Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Let's see how many people who are half my age get the analogy.

I liked the theme.
I think people might not be buying because they're put off by this,

I agree, the ending was rushed, but it has an ending, no matter how bad it is.
rather than the zombie girl.

Your themes are great, or at least they're right up my alley, and I think most people who play your games feel the same way. The issue is that you're comfortable wrapping up a game at v0.06, and with a straight face, calling it finished.

I hope you continue to make games, and find a way to stick with one long enough to make it satisfying to play through. I'm not writing this to discourage you in anyway, but honestly, I'd bet my life savings on you abandoning a game vs finishing it. Put it to community vote on whether or not a game is finished.

I'm sad to see this one go.

I was hoping for battle mechanic like the old final fantasy tbh, that's why I bought it to begin with but I understand that it would have required way more work on more money.

The art was phenomenal, but the story was just too serious. As the creator has already stated himself, the focus should be on digestible incest content. Godspeed for the next project.
