I was wondering the same, checked the itch page and to question about art the dev pointed at their , which does have art that's mostly in line with what's visible here, so presumably not.
Art is OK, but the gameplay is absolutely terrible.

Alright, having actually played through and seen all the CGs, it's almost certainly AI. The art doesn't quite match the artists and there's a lot of inconsistencies between CGs of smae character, to show some examples:
The ears on the rat constantly change
1721144142102.png 1721144167675.png 1721144201957.png
The hair and snout of the black cat
1721144240478.png 1721144251899.png 1721144268749.png 1721144283576.png
There is no consistency with patterns on the owl (also glasses that go nowhere lmao)
1721144355595.png 1721144366316.png 1721144402834.png 1721144414314.png
There's tons of other inconsistenceis that could be pointed out between any of the CG sets.
In conclusion, Bob69 this bitch fake

Quite indeed, it expects you to make precise and timed throws with absolutely jank physics. There seems to be a bug that causes the satisfaction meter not to reset properly and tbh a lot of the times it seems like the only thing that makes 3 star completions possible.

Am I insane, or is the first unlockable cauldron just objectively a worse choice?

Why would I want a shallower one when even with the default, shit is sloshing out constantly

Here's full save so you won't need to suffer through the gameplay. extract it to user\AppData\LocalLow\AdinsDev\Necromancer

It's not that bad, once you realize that stacking souls is useless, because smaller ones still interrupt satisfaction loss. Best strategy is to just throw them to the character as soon as you get them, maybe stack, if you see next falling in exact same color.

Not sure where you got that, as not a single one of the comments on the game's itch.io page even mentions the use of AI.
And even in the version post, where the character got "redrawn", the AI is not mentioned.

It's definitely AI, as if the previews for the characters weren't enough evidence, gonna post a few images. In the first character's case, the design of the head changes in each image. And in the second character's case, there's a lack of you know.. hair... almost as if someone took a bite of it. To add to this, each character has different lighting, different linework, and to top it all off, all of them are badly cropped out (which in the case of the artist doing it, the art would be easily separable by just turning off the background layers in the project file)

The game most likely would've had the artist's art at the start, as the first character in the 0.0.1 version looked completely different, before it got "redrawn" with a changing design in each image.

To this, with nice fur, hair and eye color changes. (+ ignoring the hairstyle and ear shape changes, look at the hair on the left side in the last pic)

If you read further in the thread you'd see that I corrected my statement after seeing all of the game's CGs.

The gameplay became far less frustrating after realizing you do far better if you sweep from right to left and toss when about half across the area AND there is no point in trying to actually merge anything besides wasting a lot of time since stars seem to be based on time rather than score.

Get bonus progress if you can toss matching colors into each-other WHILE they are already in the goal area.

The shallow cradle unlockable seemed to be the best for tossing and combos.

The red lady has some nice assets.
