That talk about the petting zoo date made me realize something, Jean is boring AF.
Its no wonder Oni turned her into our loveable princess bitch, in Null, even with her big sis thing, shes boring as hell, i can see cute and endearing things happening with Rogue and Laura, not to mention the things they bring to the table in sexy times, bu Jean, apart from being hot, doesnt really have anything interesting going.
I'll take that a step further, albeit with my faded memories of the 90's cartoon, Evolution, the first set of FOX live-action movies, and that one panel where she calls Iceman gay: Jean is kind of nothing special without her looks, her powers, Scott, the kids she's had with Scott, Phoenix, and the best version of Jean is Madelyne Pryor. So, from my point of view, Jean in general is basically Yuna during the first half of Final Fantasy X: Pretty, but bland. Similar vibes with Liara in Mass Effect 1 as well .Back in the lunchroom when we would talk about which mutant power we would want to have, no one said "a psychic, like Jean". Being "a psychic, like Charles" was the better option.

But, the devs said that Chapter 2 will be their take on the Dark Phoenix saga, so, let 'em cook, and hope that they'll bring in some of that energy for Phoenix that Oni did for his version of Jean. ...Though, for better or for worse, they won't have Jean's transformation into Dark Phoenix be the way that I'm imagining it at the moment:

Are Rogue, X-23 and Jean gonna be the only girls we can romance or are they adding more, like Munroe or others?

will this game have pregnancy ?
To quote the game's community manager:
The conversation comes up every once in awhile as how exactly we choose to implement it has been a debate.

To explain why. The game takes place over multiple school semesters so time progresses linearly and in phases. Thus pregnancy would need to progress within these phases. In the comics the women get gutpunched and if we ever allowed a female MC, well the MC gets beaten up pretty badly as well. So the debate usually is as follows.

1. Story gate/lock pregnancy. Girls would need to be romanced and would get pregnant at a specific time that they can reasonably avoid getting gut punched. Meaning you wouldn't have control over WHEN a girl gets pregnant and if you're not romancing her during the period where she would get pregnant, you miss out on her pregnancy content.
(I've mapped this out for most characters)

2. Only allow pregnancy in the end game. We have plans for 5 chapters. There will be a sixth chapter which is 100% sandbox and will be used to access stories and characters that don't fit within the chosen comic release timeline. This would delay pregnancy to the very end of development.

3. Dynamically remove pregnant characters from fight scenes. This is possible but it'd take a lot of extra programming and it could get awkward if ever girl on the team is pregnant.

Honestly Jean's appeal comes from her "average girl next door" energy with a splash of "hightend female intuition".
She would oscillate between confidantly knowing how to feed the animals, and getting overwelmed and burried under hungry baby goats.

Where the Rogue's appeal in this respect comes from longing for normalcy and Laura's from confusion at it, Jean's comes from (missplaced) overconfidance in conquering normalcy and how she deals with it when proven wrong.

Would she get all pouty because she wanted to look good in front of Null? Try to laugh it off while desperatly trying to fix her hair like nothing happened? Maybe slip into a funk about making a fool of herself? Would you cup her cheeks in your hand and pull your tall beanpool down into a kiss to calm her down, only to have her get too into it and start kneading your ass in front of all these families?

She works well I think as the (flawed) example of normalcy in the group. An exageration of what one would expect of a normal girl to respond as. She has the best idea of how normal girls act and think (she checked their minds herself) so her cuteness comes from the gap between her pretence of perfect normalcy and her genuine, awkward, horny self. You would want to help her get comfortable with being said self. to eventually balance that Dark Pheonix energy lurking within.

Speaking of...

*One of her bullies been making moves on Null in front of her one too many times*

"What you say to MY MAN, YOU BIMBO SLUT!?"

*Psychicly slams her into the wall, and holds her there till you start hearing her spine re-aline*

"Oh, you were flaunting that cute little ASS a minute a go, now look at it! Flat. As. A. BOARD! You suck a cock, slut! You SUCK A COCK!!

I, but I stopped doing things like that in public.
Odd questions, but roll with me for a sec. What rooms do you consider not public? And are you sure she wasn't in the room with you (she may not be on screen, but will still be in the room) when you flirted with another character?

For Jean in this game specifically: Yeah, I see the girl next door appeal. I actually disagree with salscou in that the sib quirk actually works for me, and further evokes how much of a degenerate I am when it comes to porn games - Jean with runny mascara is kinda hot; like, "Yeah, you're stressing about your exams and about not gaining as much control of your powers as you want to. But ..."

So, at least it's something that I can give Jean in this game, so she kinda passes for how strong or weak a character is in terms of writing, more or less. But outside of this game and RLE's bitchy Jean, not much has stuck with me about Jean in the 90's cartoon or the movies other than her relationship with Scott, that Wolverine had a crush on her, that she's really powerful, Cable, and red hair. But again, faded memories of what I saw 20 to 30 years ago, and reading is an excercise of my patence.

So... just for the fun of it, who do you people think it's the best girl so far? Mine's Rogue (even though Laura is quite close).

Same for me, despite everything Rogue is the most normal gf out of the 3. Laura's possessiveness is cute and fine up to a point but the player needs to put a stop to the more crazy stuff.

I am not a fan of Jean, the whole mommy/big sister thing was never my cup of tea but it also just doesn't work for her like it would for a character like Emma or Storm... plus, I just don't trust her given her history of telepathy misuse. In terms of psychic power abuse Jean is an unapologetic chronic wife beater.

Laura, but then again, ive liked her since god damn EVO since i saw her grow as a character at the same time i grew, and i enjoy how grumpy and cute she can be.
i cant believe my little clone is this cute.jpg
That said, yeah, Null needs to man the fuck up, one thing is being Laura's chew toy for funzies, but its a whole nother can of worms to not be able to put her in her place when needed and show her who wears the pants up in this bitch.

Rogue for sure, I've not really taken an interest in the others at all. The character designs for both the others are fine, but I'm just not interested in women being dominant. Laura seems traditionally dominant, Jean familially dominant (big sis, "I'll take care of you" is just not it for me, submissive big sis would be fine though). I know you can disable, or at least tone down these traits, but it's still ultimately part of who they are. I'm glad Rogue is actually really good, because she's the only submissive option.

I'm not into dominant woman but I do like both Jean and Laura (Laura specially because she is quite cute in my opinion). I do wonder if we'll get more submissive women when the game reach Chapter 2.
