VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - The Other Woman [Ch. 2 v0.3.0] [Arath Sin]

As for now, the game is great and very promising.

Pros

• Amazing art and animations
• Surprisingly good sounds
• Great and original story. Not thaat original, but is uncommon to see a female protagonist cheating her friend.
• Great writing.

Cons

• It's not game, it's a kinetic novel, that doesn't bother me though
• I know the dev barely started, but it's clearly short anyway.

There is no game here. No choices, not even meaningless ones. Nothing to click on. Nothing.

You advance text, which advances scenes, until the game ends.

This entirely linear kinetic novel, utterly absent of game play, has two things going for it:
art quality, and the fact that it is not written poorly.

But a lack of any game play, of any choices... and an MC that I don't even remotely feel anything for...
makes this a compleye waste of time.

Now for the review... I am amazed that this VN has only 3 stars [at present]. I guess it may be because some players expected a completely different "game", and therefore reviewing it relatively average based upon their expectations. F**k it, I tell you this, in that case, they [you] are wrong. This is a quality production in every single detail, and detail being the word. This is not a teenager "I want to bang the bitches" paint by numbers affair, this is the real deal and for me is rated with best found on F95 if it continues in the same fashion.

The Other Woman sets out to be a serious work showing human emotion in all its glory... it will [I hope I am right here!] be a dark journey into human psyche and there will be [must be?] fall out that will damn some of the characters and taint all of them.

The Other Woman focuses on the strengths and flaws of its characters: none are all good or bad, and there is no humour [humor?] in its portrayal. We have a unique MC that feels real and not plastic as the vast majority of MCs found on this site [no offense, no judgment, just observation that differentiates this VN from the majority of others]. We have a very well-chosen music score so far that, in my opinion, sets the tone. We have so far four characters that feel 3D. We have a beautifully crafted narrative which has been reinforced by an almost cinematic quality production. But what The Other Woman offers, together with the other rare pearls found on F95, is a f***ing good story.

Fabulous imagination from the writers, professional-feeling production... everything is excellent and to give it 1-3 stars is not doing The Other Woman justice upon its own merits rather than based upon the false expectations of their reviewers. I like it

I like the premise but, at this stage, it's not worth it. Right now, this is just another game of way too many that get posted too early without a single choice available. Right now, this is not a porn game. It's a porn picture book or comic and I am getting sick and tired of those.

Update September 5th, 2020: After reading the Devs explanation, I changed my rating to 3*. I still really like the premise, the renders are top-notch, BUT: clicking hidden objects to activate a scene is just not sth I like. I would have loved for there to be choices, but you do you, Dev. Good luck with this, but, unfortunately, I will have to pass on this one.

Very early build and therefore, a very early review, but what is here is genuinely great. Although there's no choices yet, I believe the dev has said there will be choices in future updates.

The renders are detailed and not at all generic, especially the boss! I can hear his deeply nasal voice in my head just from the way he looked, and that's always a sign of good character design.

The dialogue is well written and even though the protagonist jumps into a sex scene relatively quickly, her motivations are well realized. And the sex scene that is there, is also well written and just satisfying enough to leave you wanting more (which is probably intended as that's how the protagonist feels).

I very much look forward to the next chapters! If regularly updated with equal quality, this could be one of the best female portag games here!
