Ren'Py - The Pilgrimage (Chapter 2) [v0.5.1 Beta] [Messman]

i was planning to give it 2/5 because early patches were boring. i even found the Pilgrimage season1 end part boring, because it suffered from the same thing as this one, the heroine already starts with very high corruption. so there is basically no stake to losing.

BUT despite that, there are scenes with low/high lewdness, and for some reason the scenes were still sexy and made me hard a lot.

i still don't like the oddshaped dicks like the ogres and varrens, and i was sure to hate the new slug scenes, but for some reason the slug scenes were very very hot. and the girl animation/art improved in the latter part of the game as well, so even with the badly shaped cocks it was kinda sexy too

furthermore the game is funny, and works as a parody well, because it captures the mass effect characters imo nicely.

writing is very good, he is genuinely talented writer and funny. there are some characters who are the comedic relief but even without them the conversations feels natural.

the animation altogether is still rough around the edges (especially in beginning) with gigantic oddly shaped mouths and in beginning part the asses of heroines are not round. but anyway it's a very good game. even fappable so far in this version. there are some bugs and typoes but nothing serious. this will turn out to be a very good game. if you want the full experience you can wait for a couple of patches because game is short and many things are under development but i can still recommend you to play if you want to scratch your Quarian itch. she has many scenes. (like 50. )

This game is the one of the best ( BEST ) i ever played before and i really hope this is not the last chapter, dev with supporters can create a real big and strong serial with nice plot which porn industry can even imagine, lol!!!

Oh, a developer like respectfull Messman is a rare thing, so we should appreciate him!!!

As of v0.4 Beta, The Pilgrimage (Chapter 2) is shaping up to do everything sequel should do.

It takes the first game's mechanics and expands on them, borrowing the planetary scanning/exploration from the Mass Effect games that inpsired it. Rather than fighting/fucking aliens on a derelict ship, you'll encounter them on their home planets.

Combat has been greatly improved from the first game as well. Not only do you get multiple upgradable weapons/suits, but new companions to help you out. These new allies also come bundled with their own sex scenes, which is always a plus.

There's been some nice quality of life changes too. For example, the community made Gallery Mod for the first game has been implemented as a feature in the base game!

Of course, the game's not quite perfect just yet. Since it's still so early in development, there's not a whole lot to do. At the moment, it feels like the only real option is to wander around the currently available planets looking for money/scenes. Hopefully as development continues, we'll get more in-depth missions to try and complete on each planet. Y'know, something to give us a goal to strive for.

It also feels like all of our encounters thus far have much lower stakes than in the original game. As it stands, losing a fight carries no consequences. Even during encounters with high risk enemies from the first game (i.e. Tentacle Monsters/Mind Control Slugs) it doesn't feel like there's any risk of being captured/corrupted. The rescue missions from the original game, while occasionally annoying, were a nice addition of spice that I would love to see return.

Overall, though, my complaints are mostly nitpicks. As a big fan of the previous game, I'm excited to see where this goes.

So far the content here in the 0.4 beta is much like the first game where you explore the map like many other VNs and trigger 3D NSFW event animations. If you're turned off by horrific aliens, insects, and monsters fucking Mass Effect bimbos (which have pretty well made and authentic models) then this is not for you. The 3D animations are pretty decent all things considered and even in this early beta stage there's a good amount of content. My only complaint here is that since the animations are in 3D and the dicks are so cartoonishly monstrous they make the oral scenes look like a horror movie with bulging mouths and throats sequences. But maybe that's what the people want.

Much like the first game The Pilgrimage Chapter 2 has way more gameplay mechanics than your average Ren'Py game. It's basically a full blown RPG with its turn based combat, dungeon crawling, leveling system, and custom loadouts. From what I can see, the dev has made some interesting improvements to combat system, which feels more fluid (crazy that I'm saying this about a game made in Ren'Py). It also has made steps to solving much of the classic h-game conundrum where players often need to lose on purpose to see the h-content. I'm a bit wary about the planned base-building system but until I see it I can't fault the dev for being ambitious here.

I feel that if your game includes lots of 3D animations, turn based dungeon crawling, turn-based combat, base-building, and other gameplay systems, you might want to consider using something other than Ren'Py. Don't get me wrong, Ren'Py is a fantastic tool for creating visual novels from straightforward kinetic novels to branching stories with RPG elements. It's just that I can almost feel the Ren'Py engine creaking under the sheer weight of all this extra gameplay stuff.

In all fairness to the dev, the previous installment in this series had several mechanics like this too so using Ren'Py doesn't seem to be a problem for the dev. And maybe it's actually easier to develop for this game when the gameplay systems and animations can be sandboxed inside of a visual novel system. It's probably what allows this dev to be so productive. I can't fault this dev to sticking to what works, especially in a time where devs using much more powerful engines often end up crashing out due to the amount of bugs and extra work they have to do.

The firs one is one heluwa good game. Fun, enjoyable, simple. This one, is everything but simple. Don't get me wrong. I like it, art, fun, but I am affraid, that complexity of the game will spoil fun.

I want to be very clear about this rating - my opinion is soley based on one specific criteria, this may not be true for you. I could not get into this game for one simple reason - it has an overwhelming amount of systems right up front. I really liked the first game, and I think it struck a good balance of mixing stuff up while also keeping the core gameplay loop relatively simple. This doesn't feel like that to me at all, and it just makes it very difficult for me to enjoy. The content looks great, I don't have any problems with it, I just don't have the patience to actually get to it.

art is great, developer knows exactly what we expect from this type of games and just gives it to you. 10/10, outfits are a great addition, but i'd like to earn them as a reward. great game, easily top 10 i've played

I wanted to wait until this game had more content before reviewing. Up until this point, v0.3, I hadn't been too impressed with Chapter 2. The gameplay just wasn't there. Sex scenes happen all the time, everywhere, with no good reason. And a few changes that struck me as distracting. For instance, Vorcha cocks are more like dog cocks now instead of the thick humanoid cocks I'd gotten used to.

By v0.3, there is more gameplay available. You can see the game mechanics that will govern the bulk of the game. It's simple, but also really effective. Basically you have a nine-square grid map. You can move to adjacent squares. Each square is a new room you can explore. Random battles happen as you transition rooms. A lot of ideas can be added to this foundation. It's pretty solid.

The battles are also better than Chapter 1. In this one, you have a partner that is AI controlled. You have different suits that bring different abilities to battle. With the right suit, you can battle-fuck. Turns out fucking monsters into commission is more effective than shooting them. They of course will battle-fuck you too. The battle sex scenes are invariably hot--it's Messman, after all! At the time of writing, losing a battle is the same as winning a battle, with the exception of the Creepers. As this part of the game's mechanics is fleshed out, I'm sure it'll be a lot more fun. Game Over + perchance?

A lot of h-animated content is already packed in here. Some scenes are found just from wandering around the ship. Others are found in battle. Exploring each room thoroughly on the planets will also reward you with some hot scenes.

Overall, much like Pilgrimage Chapter 1, it feels like the game is a clothesline for a lot of monster dicks in throats and asses. The actual game elements are kind of a joke. So far Chapter 2 is a bit stronger on the game side. But we'll see. I'm perfectly fine with the clothesline if that's where this goes. It's just so relentlessly sexy!

i played ch1 when it first came out, and recently gave it another shot. considering how chapter 1 turned out, im happy dev continues with ch2. i like that there are now different costumes with different animations. that was something missing from ch1 imo, so i would like to see more modification possibilities (clothes, accessories, makeup, breast size etc. ). from what i see dev has made a new animation for each suit during the encounters, which might turn out to be a lot of work later on. of course it adds a lot to quality, but even having a couple different suits and their animations is very good in itself. i just want to be able to interact with different aspects.

i have also seen that there is now more gameplay / exploration involved and i love the idea. i like management and exploration games. i hope dev can build a good structure that is just fun, even without the adult parts a good management game that you can grind a bit. i also like that you can duo-explore and it would be really nice to see different companions with their own routes.

i also hope we can engage with and play as other characters more, i loved nyun / ami scenes in ch1 and spent half the game in the vents because of that.

i do want to criticize the h scenes though. as much as they are very high quality and i enjoy them, they do get a bit bland. it kinda feels like "oh theres an impossible d size lets try it", so i hope there is some variation. the best way i can put this is that i wish scenes had a bit more weight. in any case, i am not saying that scenes are bad and game deserves less rating. i just wish we can see different positions or changes. also, i am not sure what dev thinks, but i like having corruption increase over game and imo it would be nice if chapter2 did not start straight up with max corruption. in ch1 i even went up to 150 to see if it made a difference, turns out 75 was the cap.

finally, i normally fullmute all games and listen to something else but if dev picks nice bgm i could try it. overall, i love the game and wish all the best to the dev. it is not possible for me rn but i might consider donating in the future as the dev seems to be one of the few people on this platform who actually deliver.

Will undoubtedly become an easy 5 stars given some time and Messman is probably the coolest dev on the site, just docking a star because a mix of the early stages of the game being a little bare (obviously), the increased scope leading to imo a bunch of gristle (I'm coming here for porn, not base management or rpg like builds with weapon upgrades or whatever the plan is), and because of said gristle a noticeable slow down in updates with arguably less goon content with said updates

You can still download this for a fair bit of animations with Tali, of noticeably higher quality than when the first part initially came out, so this isn't an affront to gooning or a horrible disappointment by any means. Just airing my personal beef ig

I'm just going to give it 5 stars on the fact what it had showed so far keep up with Part 1 and even better, which is to say I absolutely love the direction this is going. If you liked part 1, then look forward to part 2 !

More discerning people might argue that giving a 5 star review this early doesn't really provide value. However I am confident to give the game that tiny, little boost. Already the varied and hassle-free accesible sex scenes are of really solid quality and the outfit Variety adds extra flavor.

Ultimately as much as I could applaud the well rendered backgrounds, steadily improving writing or ambitious gameplay mechanics. This game is about Tali and other Suit girls having rough and lewd sex with lots of monsters. And Messman intends to deliever on that it seems like. 5/5 give it a try / wank.

It's a situation where everyone else has already shared the same thoughts but you want to as well because your that passionate about it, typically for reviews that's because the dev messed up.

But for a guy named messman all he does is cook greatness. Hands down one of the best games on the site and the sequel already has enough mechanics and scenes in Beta for it to be worth 5 stars, may we get to see more asari and quarian degeneracy forevah.

Yeah, what can I say, that hasn't been said - This is the already impessive groundwork for the sequel to an amazing game. It's not that much yet (still tons more content than most 0.1s), but it gives a really good idea where it's going. I'm excited to see what Messman has in store for us!

One of the best devs on this site provided you like this kind of content. Outputs consistent and dedicated work that constantly improves the game; no silly nonsense patches that add nothing after 3 years of 'work' or any of the usual scum-tricks like remasters, recodes, reartworks, revamps, engine upgrades, blahblahblah.

The original was a great game for monster lovers, using the mass effect setting was a decent bonus but for me personally didn't add much even though Tali was one of my favorite characters. Her model and personality aren't going to be familiar to old fans of ME anyway, as it's a modern imagining of her and she's rarely out of her suit in the games anyway.

However, as a fun little mostly open exploration game, it's excellent. Surprisingly fantastic writing for what little is there, and the characters have distinct and entertaining personalities that make sense within the game's context. Game mechanics are simple but not all that tedious and simply add a fun layer of interactivity that doesn't get in the way.

The h scenes are the cherry on top here, as they are great models, animated, and have sound. Great variety too, including in monster types.

Already a top tier game if you like monster/horror themed pron, as this one is off to a great start. Considering a lot of it was content cut off from the first one which had grown really massive and had some outdated bits holding it back, that's not too surprising.

Definitely looking forward to this one developing further!
