Ren'Py - The Sin Within [v0.4.5] [CigarRex]

The concept of being lust isnt unique but this game does it pretty well. Unfortunately there's still almost 0 actual sex scenes. Models are also basically just vanilla honey select so not too interesting to look at. All you really get is sandbox stuff and a lot of dialogue. Would not recommend

A sandbox game which is not annoying. The main theme is the corruption of the girls and boy oh boy does the game really flesh it out. They don't rush thing up, and it's really hot seeing them LIs fall over MC. 9/10

So, I think I played through most of the content available so far. Here is my review of it, including pros, cons:

Pros:

-Great character design for the girls. Some of it is a bit exaggerated, like very big eyes or proportions, but it makes each girl feel unique in a sea of similar HS designs.
-Mc has an interesting corruption power but it is not to the point where the girls just become mindless(most of the time).
-Excellent selection of fetishes, tags and content.
-Despite being a sandbox the gameplay loop isn't grindy. At most you will have to sell some blood everyday for the first few days, but other than that you will progress by playing the game normally.
-Good art, animation and scene direction.
-The comedy in the game is actually funny.

Now to the cons:
-A lot of the characters from the prologue are not yet accessible due to the way the dev decided to release the locations (one location at a time with many events instead of full map and adding events slowly). But this should be fixed with time.
-Partially because of the last point there aren't many characters you can have real sex interactions with other than some less relevant side characters. Most of the nude scenes in the game are sexy but there is little actual sex or even foreplay with important characters.
-MC can change character's proportions, which is fine as one-offs, but some of the latest events have me worried of making some of these changes permanent. I really hope the dev doesn't ruin the character designs by making everyone have giants tits and ass by the end.
-Slow-ish release schedule, but this is off-set by a beefy amount of content on each release.

Final veredict:

I would say this game is between a 4 and a 5, it is not perfect but it is really good. Since most of my issues with it should be solved with time I'm giving it a 5. I will post some suggestions I have for the game in the thread later but that is outside of the scope of this review. Anyway, definitely worth playing for anyone that likes corruption or incest games.

Loved the prologue. Not a fan of sandboxes. I don't really like the grind and I don't like repeating conversations. Really takes me out of the immersion.
I stopped on the weekend of my first sandbox week. I was surprised the school and night club weren't in. Especially the school since that's a big part of the MC's daily grind.
Maybe I'll try again when there is more content, and even if not, I'll probably play it through once it's finished. I loved the story and concept though.

An interesting game that starts off pretty linear, but eventually opens up to a nice sandbox. The writing is great, and the characters are all unique and compelling.

I'm not usually a fan of the linear style for games like this that have a million characters to keep track of, since it just feels like no individual character gets enough attention before moving to another. But even for me this game does a good job of keeping the player interested in it's dozens of female characters.

The one flaw of the game for me is how it forces you to choose to pursue one character over another a few times in the linear section, but that's kind of an inherent flaw of the linear style, and it's only a temporary issue given how the game shifts to a sandbox later on. Plus you can easily unlock the scenes you missed once the sandbox starts, and it doesn't seem that you miss any content after that regardless of what girls you chose in the linear part, so it's an easy flaw to overlook.

Once the sandbox opened up and I could focus down one girl at a time, the game was solidified as one of the greats for me; there are a decent amount of scenes so far in the sandbox, and they're all fun and unique, rather than every character's progression feeling samey. For now it's mostly low-corruption-level stuff, so it looks like it'll be a while before you can really get into the meat and potatoes of the corruption genre with any of the characters. Still, the game does a great job of setting itself up for good scenes later down the line; the framework is all there, and it's just a matter of time before this game gets fleshed out with what I'm confident will be quality corruption content.

Do you like corruption games? Do you like humor, decent writing and good renders? Well you've got that here and the potential for more, while the content is still fairly on the light side, there's also plenty to unpack and plenty of hints as to where the game will go. I'd say hang on for the ride because so far so good.

My rating is an average between the amazing prologue (5/5 hands down) and the sandbox (1 star and only due to the scenes).

I have had the same problem as several others with this game. I started playing it and I was hooked and greatly surprised. The VN have an interesting pace, the story, dialogues and characters were well written, and I quickly became fond of it. But then you plummet in to the sandbox. What a dump. It is true I personally do not like sandboxes, especially the grindy kind, however due to the hype I got from the prologue I keep giving it an opportunity. I now think this was a mistake, even if the sandbox is not to a complete grind fest, it completely breaks the flow of the story to the point that there is no more story, although when you talk with the characters they give the illusion there would be in the future. Furthermore, it is focused on characters that I personally do not give a dam about. Instead of focusing on the main Lis (family) and friends (School) it focusses on the Moms coworkers. Additionally, in order to watch some scenes of the family and events you have to level all the family members, this did not happened during the prologue. I personally do not care about the muscled busty Japanese big sister bully, but is necessary to interact with her several times in order to go to the beach.

So to sum up, congratulations to the developers for the great prologue. I really wish you would have continued in the same direction. And best of luck in the future.

Wasted Potential/10

Talk about the mother of all fake outs. The Prologue had the writing, story, women and renders at top notch and had me hooked.

Then the needlessly time wasting sandbox happens. The same old 1000 clicks for money and on a map in the name of fluffing out the time on the game. If that wasn't bad the dev commits the cardinal sin of not even giving tips, outside of 2, to give you an idea where to click. You have to resort to looking at the gallery to get hints in the titles of the gallery images. A damn joke. Writing nose dives in the sandbox part of the game. The only plus is the animations are pretty good and frequent.

Abandon/milking potential is sky-high/ 10

Those 2 red flags point to dev burnout down the road. The potential is there, no idea why the Dev went the route they did with this game after the prologue. Disappointing to say the least.

IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME: HARD SKIP

Gotta say, this is quite good, though a bit too teasing on the side. Needs action! Less foreplay and more to the point, too much foreplay at this point, get to it!

Other than that, the animations are top quality! the girls are good, though the obese side is not my thing I respect this game.

4.5*, but since it has few reviews i will throw a 5 instead of 4.

Pretty nice game, i do think that the prologue is better than the sandbox, while i don't like time sink, it's pretty straight-foward, so can't really complain about it, just feel like a progressive linear way would be better, since we are supposed to have a harem, no choices and all.


It has alot of little details that i like, the chemistry with your friends is organic (The guys, the girls, sebastian). Making fun of the protag kissing a whore, the fact that they (On the club) do what they do because plot and not just because harem. Some little other things that i don't remember now, but anyway, it's a fun packed with action game, hoping it keeps getting better.

Review update:

After playing partway through the sandbox (freeroam) portion of the game which follows the prologue, I wanted to update the review to bring it up to (3) three stars.

The sandbox has a pretty good UI, a nice layout for love interests, and a gallery that is at least partially usable to find new scenes (currently only sortable by LI, not by location). At this point the game clearly tells you how much lust you need with each LI to progress to different scenes.

Unfortunately, the same premise that my old review touched on still exists for the freeroam: there's only sex after you work HARD on getting the LI's lust stat high enough (and only for a few of them). And yet, the MC is the embodiment of the Sin of Lust. It's a huge contradiction.

After 7.5 hours of playing and working on different LIs to get their lust stat higher, my MC *STILL* hasn't had actual sex with any of them. Could I skip time and focus on 1 or 2 (specifically at the office)? Sure. Is that fun or immersive? No.

It feels like I'm going to work every day to try and get LIs interested in sex, and yet most of them are either in negligee or totally nude and dripping wet, waiting to be fucked. The LI could simply choose to screw any he wanted at any time (or just put a drop of blood in a drink and give it to them, then fuck them). But he never does, despite me (the player) wanting him to at every step.

I go to work in RL for other things, and don't really need work in an AVN I play for fun. It's not fun to have such a long stretch of zero sex, and then have most of it dumped on you in the latter half of the game. It's unbalanced, unrewarding, and a fake challenge. As the Sin of Lust, sex should be far more accessible, even if it's just with side characters. And as mentioned - some of the LIs in the game are already begging for it, we (the player) just don't get to have it.

If you REALLY like hours and hours of working on LIs without payoff, and REALLY like to be teased (without any sex at all), the game might be for you. I know there -are- some sex scenes in the game, but I'm unwilling to go through 9+ hours of work to see them.

Hate having to give the game 2 stars, but the MC in the first 2-3 hours is a total wimp, and totally unrealistic. Had to stop playing as there was nothing hot about the story or scenes after that long.

I played all the way through the end of the bar scene (and special scene after), and literally the ENTIRE NPC CAST is getting more action with each other than the MC is. You (the player) are being cucked over and over by having to watch other people get themselves off, and the MC gets none of it.

Near the end of the bar scene, people are virtually fucking out on the dance floor. Many of them (including the hot girls he came with) are half naked, their genitals just dripping wet and ready for him - all he has to do is get close and penetrate them. They're so horny he could have fucked half of them and they would have thanked him (some were actually begging for him by name to be with them). What does he do..? He leaves and goes home. Ugh.

After falling asleep he has another scene where he has a chance at absolutely wrecking the ass of a hot girl, and he gets nervous when an alarm in the building goes off and... wait for it... leaves AGAIN.

Sorry, but if an MC is that pathetic and never takes what he wants, it's going to be hard for most people to relate to him. And having to watch other people get it on while the MC just wanders around without even trying to get his... it's just zero fun at all.

I self-insert and play the MC, and I can't remember knowing anyone that was this bad at going after what they want when it's literally being offered to them. And as a player - I haven't seen even one sex scene in that ~3 hours, when there were a lot of chances for the dev to do one.

The story seems to have a premise to it, and it makes light of itself when it can. Unfortunately the introduction to the player is blue-balling taken to an extreme, which isn't my thing.

I'll continue playing for a while, at least partway through the sandbox, hopeful things start to ramp up and the MC changes course. Will update the review at that time.

Amazing prologue section. Full of interesting, unique characters. Renders are great. The story and scenes are also really good.

I find that it takes a nosedive into a open-sandbox mechanic style. All the inertia from the prologue is lost as you mindless click around looking for the new scenes. I hope to see this mechanic vastly improved in later versions, because so much of the core story and renders are already is an amazing spot.

If nothing else, play it for the prologue. (Lilith best girl.)

Great game up too now the prologue was amazing the story telling great, The animations where also fantastic Only thing i felt that was a bit odd was the switch too sandbox after the prologue i don't mind sandbox games at all but i felt like it slowed the story down a lot. Fantastic work overall 4/5

too ambitious of a game, next time put more choices so the dude who plays it feels more engage, it bored me once I got to the sandbox part (hate sandbox), also I didn't like the textures and it's so unreal the part of the mc transforming into a devil just put a hint of what he is, not turn him into one, dude that is just cringe, thanks peace out

This game had a good start, put in 3.5 Hours in the VN version before the game opens up the sandbox and man it's bad, from the nice VN experience with good writing and good animations overall it just opens up, and you just stand there talking with moving jpegs half the time, like cmon man, i think the dev just put in too much time in the VN Part and said fuck it lets turn up the in-game time with sandbox mechanics, walk here talk with her get her love up (the usual sandbox crap), i just saved and Quit.

Review For The Sin Within [v0.3]
The game is really good so far. I'm enjoying playing as the main character, he's quite fun. I also love his family. The plot is decent, although I wish it stayed as a linear visual novel story instead of becoming a sandbox game. But I guess it's better this way because there are so many love interests in the game, and it gives us more time to focus on each character equally. The only downside is that most of the sexual scenes in the game involve women with women. There are a few scenes with the main character, but it's mostly just teasing. It's like he avoids getting intimate with women, which is a bit frustrating. I hope we get more scenes with the main character in the future because he's supposed to be really lustful. Overall, it's still a great game and I'm excited to see where the story goes with the seven sins.

Pretty good game so far, I really liked the prologue, but was a bit surprised when the sandbox part started, but that's my fault, I didn't read the tags properly. I am no hater, but it's hard to get a sandbox game right, maybe the future updates will surprise me.

The Renders are good (the body fluids are a bit weird tho), you get a big variation of body proportions, (small boobs for the win), which I really like, usually u only get comically large boobies, but this game has a good mix.

The story is interesting, nothing new, but it doesn't feel so "sterile" like a lot of similar stories.

That being said, I wish the Dev good luck with the game, and i really, really hope you get it right with the sandbox

Truthfully this is a 4/5 stars game due to the flaws i'll mention below, but the game has a lot of potential and i can easily see its becoming one of my favorites so I'm giving it 5 stars as a vote of confidence to the dev.

The renders, animations and mainly the art style are the best aspect of the game by far, it's very unique and works beautifully in crafting both the cutes and lewds moments. The LI's models are also great, with good variation of body types and archetypes, I already felt in love for the MC family.

The plot is the usual MC gaining seductions powers out of nothing, BUT with a very interesting bakground story in the SINs subplot, it has the potential to become something more but it is still too early to tell. The writing is what is to be expected of a stardard good VN, nothing out of the ordinary but with clear and easy to follow dialogue and no glaring errors that i noticed.

Now, my main and only gripe about the game is that it has TOO MUCH TEASING and TOO MANY CHARACTERS. It looks likes the MC activelly tries to avoid going further in the lewd scenes, and honestly made me fell blueballed a lot of times, lol. I had the impression tha the women being affected by the MC's power had more action than the MC himself.

This problem coupled with the too large of a cast makes me fear that the game will become a teasing fest with a bunch of characters that i dont care, while the main plot and delevopment with the main girls will be forgotten. I hope i get proven wrong in this regard.

The game has potential. I appreciate the kinda original character's designs, honestly a very welcome touch. The plot until now is nothing out of the ordinary: plain MC gets powers that allow him to fuck everything within reach, additionaly there's also the sins plot going on. Hopefully the dev can connect all characters with that main story. Also on that note... way. too. many. characters. Hope that won't backfire, so many characters with sandbox could feel like a chore down the line, both for development and players. good luck

Boring game with great potential.

The first ~ 10-15 minutes of gameplay are nothing but teasing and reading. Tits, tight pants etc. everywhere, but the MC masterfully avoids every chance to get laid.
To make things worse, *SPOILER* he misses his first chance of banging a female hooker by focussing only on pleasuring her with his oversized dick just hanging around. CRINGE
It's a shame the dev couldn't manage to at least show me what he was capable of during the intro.
What remains is a ok-ish, but overly text-heavy story and wasted time, before I stopped playing this.
