The Sister In Law is a cute kinetic novel about a somewhat sleazy MC, his wife and her two sisters.
The game really has no story to speak of, it's all about the MC getting hands-on and closer and closer to his two sisters in law while there's also a plan to convince the wife to welcome her sisters into a neat little harem. However for some reason the game has no "harem" tag, so who knows, maybe it will have a more realistic ending? But that would not fit the tone of the story.
Almost all of the teasing, dialogue and sex is centered around the pool in the backyard and the hot tub. Occasionally there's some shenanigans in the house as well. Other locations don't exist. So there's very little variation when it comes to the set pieces and environments.
The renders are ok-ish. Not bad. Not great, but ok. At night the lighting is off, scenes tend to be a bit too dark at times. More ambient lighting would be required here. It's not super terrible, but light is certainly missing in several scenes.
I like the character design a lot here, all the women are more on the petite side, have small(er) breasts and are far removed from some of the super curvy caricatures you often get elsewhere. I like petite women so that works for me. If you want super curvy big breasted characters... look elsewhere.
If you like pubic hair you will also get lots of it here. Several characters have them here. One mini side plot revolves around sister Brenda's jungle and how the MC helps her trim it down.
The game has a third person view, so you see the MC a lot. But that is more or less a requirement because if that game was POV the many, many teasing and sex scenes would just look silly.
Facial expressions can look very off at times, much too exaggerated. But you don't see that too often, I mostly noticed it early into the game.
Unfortunately the game has no real animations, what it has are the jerky slideshow animations you have seen many times before. Not entirely terrible, it's ok, but it's not even close to what you can get in other games.
What I find a bit disappointing and also surprising is that while you get a million fingering scenes and a few full on sex scenes in this game, that there is no tenderness. The MC goes straight for the delicate spots of the girls and fingers them... all the time, sometimes he goes down on them... and then sex. But there is no kissing (I can't remember a single kiss in the entire game, not even with the wife!), no caressing, I can't remember the MC ever kissing a breast, he rubs a nipple or fondles breasts ever so rarely, this is really weird. There isn't any cuddling here either really.
And another issue with this kinetic novel is that things get a bit samey after a while. While it is apparently based on real life events (that must have been one heck of a husband...), the fact that almost all scenes are either at the pool, in the pool or in the hot tub means that after a while you have seen it all. You only get variations of the same things over and over again eventually. And that the scenes are almost always about fingering doesn't help either.
So the MC keeps fingering the sisters in law (and a friend) almost relentlessly, I would assume this kinetic novel has the most fingering scenes of any game I have played yet. In a recent update even a friend of the younger sister in law gets fingered (she also has actual sex once) and she's super ok with everything 5 seconds after meeting the MC for the first time. In fact, both she and the younger sister have a threesome 5 minutes after meeting the MC. Maybe some people are like that... I would have expected some build-up maybe.
And eventually the MC fingers both the younger sister and her friend at the same time while his wife lies right next to them at the pool (she does notice it though and is at that point more or less ok with it)
So this has huge focus on fingering, there's occasional sex as well (very little compared to all the fingering...), with all the four female characters, not at once of course.
As mentioned there's one threesome in the game, but no girl on girl action. If you want that you may be out of luck, so far all the women make it very clear they are into men (= the MC) only.
I have yet to encounter a single "I love you" in this game. Apparently this is all about raging hormones and not really deep emotions. Maybe it was like that in the "real life story", can't say. But what this game absolutely needs is some more emotional depth, some actual feelings, a little tenderness, some tender moments, not just constant horniness that almost always results in fingering the girls. Even a date somewhere else with just one of the girls would be welcome.
And even if in the story this game is based on everything always happened in the pool or hot tub (according to the dev) it doesn't mean the game has to be the same. A change of scenery would be welcome every once in a while.
So, the big question is ... can you have fun here?
Well, if you are ok with kinetic novels and if you are ok with the rough animations... and if you are also ok with the fact that the entire game is set around a house, the pool and the hot tub and that many scenes feel very smilar after a while... sure, you can have fun here! But you REALLY need to like fingering scenes. And I mean REALLY.
Otherwise the tone is very lighthearted, there's some comedy, some jokes, lots of hijinks and shenanigans and teasing with the ladies and the MC. Sometimes it's as childish as pulling down the pants. Other times the younger sister and her friend have sleep sex with the MC while wife Becky is also in the bed and unaware. So it can get quite a bit silly.
But you can have a good time here if you accept the game for what it is.
You also don't have to wait for things to escalate. So there's no endless teasing, the teasing is more about testing out the limits of the wife Becky and having fun with the sisters (and the friend) in the pool or hot tub while the wife is around. If you like this cheating aspect this game will give you quite a lot of that.
Despite the relentless cheating in this game everything is still more or less good natured and fun. As long as you think cheating on sweet wife Becky is "fun" to begin with. I feel sorry for her actually.
Chances are you may find the dialogue eventually a bit boring, since it's about nothing really, other than how horny everyone is or how to convince Becky to accept her sisters as lovers of the MC or how to make her accept that everyone can run around naked around the pool and hot tub. At times it feels as if everyone wants to gaslight Becky into accepting constant nudity and the harem with her sisters.
The lack of a story is also problematic eventually because you can only have so many interactions with just three or four women in one location before things repeat. As I said before... chances are you may have your fill of fingering scenes eventually. Yet you get them all the time here. ALL the time.
In my opinion this game needs to push things a bit further very soon and quite frankly, I cannot see how this kinetic novel can go on much longer, unless it will take a left turn and suddenly add drama. But I hope not, this game doesn't need drama, drama would ruin it actually.
The wife is almost at the point where she will accept the sisters as part of a mini harem anyway, in the recent build she says she will have to think about it.
So what could be next? Getting them all pregnant? Having a foursome? Maybe ease up on the endless fingering and introduce some variety...
The problem is that the game no longer has any tension really. All three sisters are into the MC, the MC is lusting after everyone anyway, the only complication left is for the wife to fully come around and accept that her marriage has become polyamourous with three women.
Anyway, if you want a feelgood harem game with almost zero choice (there are two choices in the game, both are super obvious), zero drama, lots of (fingering) action between the MC and four women... then The Sister In Law is certainly worth a try.
Just don't expect anything fancy, complex or deep. You learn surprisingly little about the love interests here, since almost all their interactions are about teasing them, fingering them, getting down on them or having sex with them. Almost all dialogues are about that as well or how to gaslight Becky into accepting everything.
So all you will really know is that Brenda, the middle sister, is really dumb (but sweet), has a kid you never see and that is almost never mentioned, that the youngest sister is a wild one, is still in school and dumps her stupid boyfriend early in the game... but exactly who these people are really, what the dreams are, their hopes, their plans, their hobbies, aspirations is more or less a mystery still. They are all just super horny for the MC and fool around all the time. The women in this game exist for the sex only and the MC only exists to finger them all the time.
This can be a fun distraction for a while, but ultimately the game lacks a bit of substance and as mentioned before also actual love, tenderness and genuine feelings.
Overall I think this is a perfectly average game. Not bad at all, not great either. Worth your time if you are ok with kinetic novels and mostly shallow fun. The teasing by the MC (and boy does he tease the girls) is kind of sleazy but also hilarious in a certain way. In my opinion poor Becky should divorce him and get someone who only has eyes for her... She doesn't deserve any of that. While her sisters are cuter, she's still quite pretty and in my opinion she should not put up with such a sleazeball husband. But of course it's a game with porn logic.
And why exactly her sisters are so into the MC is also more or less a mystery, unless he really has magic fingers. That must be it. Magic fingers.
