Ren'Py - The Spinney [v0.21] [Dannot Games]

The game is the best of its genre IMHO.
The only thing I would introduce is more "spicy" and intriguing situations, characters meeting in secret with the MC. I think this would help the plot very much since we are talking of a "post-apocaliptic" world in which you should stay hidden.

Mostly because you can get a game overS (multiple ones) in this game without any possibility to make up for it quickly. Also some poor navigation. too bad the rest is pretty good, models are nice, progression also (all characters kinda have the same sex progression but oh well).
If you like this game or not mostly rely on if you like these models or not.

I like the model choices for the game and the pictures and video clips overall, however everything else about the game disappointed me.

Roughly 25% of the pictures in the game are using the wrong aspect ratio so they are stretched and look terrible in this condition.

There is a ton of unnecessary grind in the game. Trying to progress to new scenes and lewd content takes forever at each step and every turn. I did not finish the game. The game got so annoying that I gave up on it after getting Vina and Kenzie both to level 3. The game became worse than a bad day at work and I lost all desire to continue.

Few players want to see the same scenes being repeated day after day. If you're going to have grind, it needs to be meaningful. To me, it just felt like a huge time waster. I wanted to like the game, I really did. I went into it with an open mind. The game would work much better as a visual novel in it's current state (removing the sandbox and grind mechanics). I felt like my time was wasted here.

The game looks good and promising at the beginning (and I had high hopes for it) and then after realizing everything the dev expects you to do to unlock new content, my opinion of the game slowly changed. I'm not against grind. I'm just against grind designed to repeat the same content so much that it becomes a huge annoyance and wastes the players time.

My advice is to skip this game or just unpack the archive.rpa file using Unren and just watch the porn clips and you'll have a much better time IMO.

The Spinney is a fun, well-written light survival game with a metric ton of hot porn content. That said, there are definite shortcomings that hold it back. My bare basic standard for fap games is, are you fapping? And The Spinney has plenty of hot content, much of it repeatable, it's not terribly grindy (and if that bothers you, a quick stop over to Save Editor Online will remedy that) and the chosen models are varied and hot. You will get off.

So why take away a star? There are a few reasons. The biggest one is that the user interface is straight out of 2018, missing very basic, quality of life features. No top level button for sleeping (have to navigate back to bedroom), no button to advance time (have to navigate to a shower or nap), you have to back out of a room to get to other rooms in a building (rather than having all accessible from every room), no top level button to take you straight outside from rooms. Like, if you're in a room in the Spinney house and want to sleep, you have to back out of the room > click outside > 'Go back' to the top level neighborhood menu > click on your 'house' > click 'your room'> then finally 'Go to sleep'. That's seven clicks that ought to be one.

Also, some of the info on the phone ought to be on the top page, like the walkthrough, girl's info and personal stats. One click away instead of three.

Other things:
- The in-game walkthrough leaves a little to be desired and since events are usually 'This exact place at this exact time' sorts, the game is unplayable without one. I'd like something like a 'hints' version and an explicit version that spells out exactly what needs to be done (there is a downloadable pdf version however).
- The English is better than machine translate, but it's passable, not great.
- No replay gallery sucks (though there are plans to add one) , but it was oddly nostalgic for me, with 80 saves for every scene worth revisiting.

The Spinney is a good game that could be better. But there's plenty of fap material, so if you go in with proper expectations, a walkthrough ready and if you're not into the game side, an edited save file, you'll have a good time.

Edit: Changing to five stars, as the dev added 'sleep' and 'time advance' buttons to the top of the view screen. You can now sleep and advance time anywhere, and it's alleviated a tooooon of the tedium.

I don’t usually like real porn games, but this one is good. Normally I quickly regret given them a try. But this one has captivated me, even though it is kind of a low burn at the beginning. Additionally, there are some grammatical errors in the dialogs that I really don't like, although they remain comprehensible. Thank you for the game Dannot Games

+nice and light story without logical problems or stuff but you should not expect to be reading a novel
+some grind but not too grindy

Good game, interesting story. A touch grindy in places, but there are a lot more worse games for grinding. The images match the story very well, which is a bit uncommon when using real porn images. The fact Vina is one of my favorite stars is a big plus about this game for me.

The storyline is really interesting, probably one of the best I've seen in porn games.
The scenes and events are great (although obviously not complete [v0.62]).
Only thing I think should be changed is the food system, a little boring and repetitive to farm for potatoes all the time and most other skills are kinda useless (like fishing). I think a good solution to this problem could be "passive income" kind of ideas.

Pretty solid game. Quality use of RealPorn and never too much time between scenes.

Interesting survival harem story has me looking forward to updates.

It has a few translation problems, but nothing that is hard to understand.

The survival game elements like gardening are repetitive, but so is gardening... (Just set food = 9999, and you won't have to worry about it)

Navigation could use some optimization or QuickTravel menu so you don't have to do things like spinney > outside> back to house > outside > neighbors.

Side stories could use a progress tracker, but in general the hints for the main questline were easy to follow when you get stuck.

Firstly, English in this one is pretty bad. This is a major no-no for a lot of people, so be warned.

UI and navigation is awful, real life pictures plastered on each other with no design in mind. And picture quality is not great either. Navigation is redundant since visiting another place requires you to go home to go somewhere else.

Resource management is a useless feature. You have to gather food or else it's game over. And it's implemented badly, you just repeat the same steps over and over again.

The only OK thing (and it's a stretch for why I'm giving this 2 and not 1 stars) is that porn stars used here are not ugly and the premises for the story is somewhat interesting.

It looks like I did not play the same game as all the 5 stars reviewers.

In this state it does not have much going for it. The flow is horrible. The english isn't great. I did not get into the story at all.

The reviews for this game are obviously fake and have no relevance to the actual game! I don't know if this is some form of multiple account fraud or a bunch of (paid) comrades, but most 5 star reviews have the same offbeat English vibe.

Anyways for the game itself;
The game is completely in Ruslish, you will be hard pressed to find a single correct sentence. For example at the beginning a girl sees something on the road and exclaims "Look, Care!", I still have to find out what neightbors are and you own a side battery, not a power bank.
English is my third language so I don't claim to be perfect, but you can at least run a spell check or use a better web translator.

The premise is also unclear, 20 percent of men under the age of 40 have died. This doesn't sound like a big deal (half of those are even under working age), this would normally lead to some kind of worker shortage and some short term problems. In my country this equals to 5% of the workforce. Yet it is made out to be the complete end of the world (dawn of the dead style), with complete collapse of society, no more basic necessities, and people brandishing weapons to kill other people in the street.
Directly after stating that you have no family you decide to go to you parents house... Where are your parents tho?

Other annoyances for me are things like calling people on Bluetooth, Bluetooth has a signature baseball bat range, while it would have been super easy to write something about the characters actually prepping and getting some 20 dollar handheld radios you can get anywhere.

A lot of images didn't have a correct aspect ratio so were just stretched instead of cropped. So you have cars that look 3m long and beds that are as high as they are long for example.

I cannot continue with this game as I get a headache from squinting at the text.

I could have given it a higher rating as this is a first time attempt at a game, and it hasn't been in development that long. Not all is bad but obvious fraud is already a -5 for me.

Great game. Easy handling, great story, great choice of girls and integration of the vids. I did have much fun playing it so far and cannot wait for further updates. One of my favorites. Keep going!!!

Very nice game with good story and structure. The stories also flow into each other and that is difficult to do with real porn, but it worked out well here. The tips in the phone are also useful.

Only with Kenzie I was stuck for a while that I kept getting the tip "up her lust". That took much longer than the other girls to get to the next level.

Not much content with the two new girls but would like to see more of that.

Good game, with nice content, good quality of videos and interesting story. Pretty young models, some statistic grinding also but not to much. Balanced and enjojable. Would like to see some more models, and a possibility to make them work

I am definitely liking what's going on here. Yes, the English is rough, but it's definitely passable to get the idea through. Played beginning through 0.4.1 content in 1 sitting, and I love this.

more developers should create real porn games. Very few good such games. Keep up the good work. Has definitely got the potential to be bigger better and with more harem styled genre. I just feel some more actionable events should be there to make it lively. After certain story line it becomes repetitive of getting girl and then moving towards level 5. The absence of fear and danger of 'game over' is missing. Too linear after first two character introduction.

Great game! Love it so far. Spelling and grammar mistakes are there but can be overlooked. The hint system helps a lot but I think the hints are broken on Kenzie's path. Love the pics and vids. Models used are great as well. Excellent corruption game. I hope you keep up the great work!

The game has attractive models. It has a good amount of content and the potential for much more with the models selected. There is an interesting background story beyond the usual corruption plot of most of these games. Looking forward to additional content.

Love it! Definitely good for a starting game. Love the actresses, the story is good. It's very nice that you get a notification once someone's storyline is done. Honestly, i can't wait for this to be a full game.
