VN - Ren'Py - The Successor [v0.1] [DerVisionar]

I don't usually post on intros and wait until there's some more content to rate, but I think this might be worth watching. I enjoyed this very much. The setting is something I've been searching for, but never quite found it.

First thing that I really appreciate in this one is how the MC is not being taken by the plot, but how he actually poises himself to take charge of it. And that reflects on the ability of the player to shape the experience to their liking inside the window that the VN positions itself.

The netorase seed is well shaped so far and pretty rare, being more biased towards MC with some swinging sharing (only text mentioned so far, for those afraid to see these things) instead of the common troupe of a LI that fucks anyone aside from the cuck-MC. A very big plus is that you as the player seems to be in control if that is to remain like that, or if you rather shape it to your liking.

Repeating myself, but I love that we have a non-wimpy MC, going for the netori and not the netorare - most of all, that dev made it clear of his direction from the get go.

English could do with a bit of polishing, but it's not broken at all, perfectly understandable.

MC model feels a bit off to me, can't quite pin it, but there's definitely something uncanny. I always thought that the engine is not very generous with male models, so I'll dismiss it...

It's in a rough shape, as you'd expect from an intro of a dev's 1st project. But I'm going for 5/5 because of the potential I see in it. Might revisit the scoring later on, but I'm holding out optimistically for this one.

I sure hope dev sticks to his guns and don't give in to either side of the debate, but rather implement his vision for the story. Mach weiter so, Herr Visionär!

I won't lie the description and comments made me doubtful at first, yet I decided to give it a go and I don't regret it

It may sounds confusing at first but the intro and the notes from the dev really help to ease the questions and I think it was a really good work, still a little bit confusing but just a little until you see the options in action

I really like that you have the control over choices, I don't know how this will be in the future but for now it seems with potential and I hope it remains like this

About the netorare, netorase and netori, at least for now all the content is limited (for obvious reasons).

The game states that the mc and her gf are in an open relationship (the coments mentioning the mc not caring about "sharing"her in the past, its just text like, Person who is playing and dont like this. c'mon just block that part of your brain and keep playing you will get the girls in the end da fuck you care about previous shit you wont see and only read probably once (also it is basically stated that she is not interested in that unless YOU tell her)

About sharing: I am not a fan of (when is with another male) but the game (at least for now) it gives you the option to give your GF a freepass (with a male or female in the future) or to NOT DO IT . It's in your power to not do it and if you like F/F guess what, you can choose to go with this and I like it (the descriptions at the start mention the chance of joining on some of those escenes, so I get a plus of a posible threesome ffm or at least girl on girl action and I see that as an absolute fucking win)

Lastly about the netori: You wont see anything at first because the history just started so this will be more notorious in the future, I see a potential with one of the girls (the one who hates you) but honestly with the game just starting I am not expecting this to happen soon, still I see the potential and I hope it goes like that

And lastly about the oh unholy netorare: I mean your first "Netorare" scene is that you can choose to see the girl that hates you giving a blow to his bf.

You can choose to see (voyeur and not really ntr but oh well choose your poison, and even if you choose to see it, the mc still manages to not be pussy with his attitude or reaction even teasing and mocking)

Or you can choose to "Skip" with this choice you can cockblock him and ruin the action, YOU LITERALLY have the power to stop a scene of other characters, they dont even get to do anything in their end so this is even better because you can actualy avoid this instead of just skip the scene, it still happened but you didn't see it, once again Dev fucking thanks for this it was satisfactory

I usually dont like to leave rates and comments but after seeing the chaos of the coments, I wanted to leave this for those who may have questions just like I have at the start, you have FULL control (at least for now and I hope it remains like this)

If you dont like lesbian (even if they are literally giving YOU the show) or share your girl with another girl (and potentially join) then skip,

If you cant tolerate the idea of others girls having a bf before probably jumping and choosing you instead, skip

Lastly if you hope that everyone here is a virgin before getting to you, fucking skip, there may be text mentioning previous relationships and sex with others but its just text, literally just skip the text and think that never happened

Dev if you read this, keep the good work and I hope the games remain with this flow of choices on how the scenes will unfold specially with the sharing, I dont fucking care who is fucking who as long as is a girl with another girl

If the sex needs to be with another man, well skiping is always an appreciated option (but if you can denied the sex, hoo boi, 100% better) in the end what triggers the others is the fact that is stated that it happened even if you "skipped" but honestly, this is your game and your history

The game so far has an interesting concept. An heir who has lost his parents and is now starting to investigate the mystery surrounding the tragic events.

As of v0.1, it gives you a clear indication as to where the events will go. It's not a traditional harem and has portrayed itself to be more in line with polyamory.

It does give you options to spy on other characters or to set up sharing in the future with LI's. Again, if you are expecting to be the only dick of use in a sea of girls then clearly the game isn't for you.

One thing the dev can do better is display the correct tags and notes on the page more clearly. It is causing quite some consternation for those who have a slightly fragile mental strength in tolerating things that they do not agree with and it is becoming tiresome (which you can see in many Harem/NTR threads).

Game Pro's
- Interesting character profiles, Lin and Ai are pretty defined
- Non-vanilla choices, it is rare to see nowadays in a non Netorare focussed game (the actual definition, not what people think it is on here)
- The intro plot is intriguing, would need more time to see if it continues that way though.

Cons
- Renders are not that great, a few clipping issues but not completely bad
- Spelling mistakes are there but not broken English
- Some characters were thrown in right at the end. It is the intro but it felt like they were shoehorned in to fit a quota. Would need to see how they are in later chapters if they appear.

All in all. It is an interesting start, will want to see how things proceed.
