Thank you for the translations :)

I wanted to ask you if you could create a guide, tutorial, in Italian on how to do ren'py game translations, in case someone wanted to try their hand at :)

I saw that there is one but it is in French and using the automatic translator some passage is not clear. I believe that an Italian step by step guide written by an Italian is better and useful to many Italians increasingly looking for games in Italian :)

I had also thought of creating a discussion (which I wouldn't know where to create it) to put a list of games translated into Italian or that are also in Italian even if in the main section this is not clear (see man of the house).

I myself have translated two games, even if in google mechanical English, and if I find and translations I will share them, even if a mechanical translation is always better than a language that does not comprise a lot, or I could have enjoyed them rather than skip them understanding of text and history is often a fundamental element.

Still a big thank you for your translations and efforts ;-)

Greetings,
Meanwhile, thank you for finding the culprit. Actually it is the "gui" file that generates problems. At the moment, to make the game work properly, just DO NOT use the "gui" file of the translation but leave the original one. Although not involved in the translation, in some way, it is modified, generating problems. I have not yet identified the specific problem but, in the future, (I'm translating Milfy City), for safety, I will include the original "gui" file (copied directly from the original game). For those who have problems, as soon as I can, I update the translation post with the archive with the original "gui".

Saluti,

In pratica agisco cosi:
5) Qui cominciano i guai.

Hello,
in reality there is no guide since the translation I do using some self-produced php procedures. There is a "translation" section already in Renpy but the translation done thus generates innumerable problems and then, to activate it, the creator of the game must have foreseen a language selection that in almost no game there is.
In practice I act like this:
1) I install the game
2) I copy the file UNREN.BAT (found in F95zone) to "open" the .rpa files of the game and get to the * .rpy files which are the game's files with dialogues.
3) Launch Renpy (the program is not the game), I select the game and then choose EXTRACT DIALOGUES in TAB format and with all the writings to be translated possible. I get the file DIALOGUE.TAB
4) From this file I extract the English dialogues and the character who pronounces them by creating a text file to submit to Google Translate.
5) Here the trouble starts. The translation, very often, in addition to being inaccurate, modifies the tags (eg: <i> ... </i> indicates that the text included between these tags must be inclined), introduces blank lines and merges others. For example, Google Translate the text <i> translates it I ..., III, <i and in other ways. To avoid this, I replace the tags with meta tags that are not translated "bad" (eg all the <i> become Xxx001, the </i> become Xxx002 ...). Then I replace the meta tags with the original ones again. Then the indentation must be taken into account. In RenPy, the game instructions have a rigid scheme that uses spaces (not the tab (horror)) to indent the code. Just a space out of place and the translation fails!
6) Then I take all the original game files and search for English text sequentially. When I find one, I replace it with the Italian correspondent.
There are still a lot of passages like character checks which, if not pure ASCII, generate problems.
Now, with the procedures, the rough translation by Translate, I get it in 5 minutes but, I assure you, it's obscene. Then there are games that are special (like My CuteRoommate) that, to start them, you need to correct by hand since I haven't yet found a way to totally automate the translation. I forgot: it is also necessary to evaluate the versioning. When the new version of the game is released, the old one must be reused as much as possible to avoid losing all the hand-made corrections.
In essence, there is no universal way to translate.

They are the actual names of the characters,I assume you changed the name sin the beginning?
At least the cheat menu could use the names given by the player. Besides the Mod's cheat menu is way more complete and good looking to the point it's almost painful to look at this one

Well I mean, I didn't design the game or the mod,I was just answering his question.

Well, the thing is, I don't remember being prompted for 'Press enter to use xxxxxxxxx' (Default name), and I could never have guessed who these names referred to.

As someone said above, the game should use the player's names.

Thank you for your replies!

Edit: I looked for a (cheat) mod, but the only mod I could find states "NOTICE: This Mod is now defunct."

Am I looking on the wrong place? (The one above is on P1 stating 'MOD')...

When your asked to enter a name,it says leave empty for what ever the characters name is. Easy to miss, but its there.

Your comment made me think I was going insane, when I had never seen the names in the pic I posted before, so I went back and checked;

_Mom.png _LilSis.png _BigSis.png

But their default names are, at least in the version I played, never suggested, mentioned or hinted at :)

Is it due to the IC patch?
