Ren'Py - The Wants of Summer [v0.32] [GoldenGob]

I've tried to get into this a couple times now as the tags are appealing to me and i kinda dig the stylized big titted bimbos (though the MC's dick needs a lot of work) and the animations are decent. I don't even mind the mini-games which you can skip but give you a bit of an extra boost when it comes to earning relationship points.
The real issue here is that the flow of the game sucks and the quest tracker is not really helpful. As a result you end up flailing around on the map trying to trigger new stuff. This is a good example of a game that has a bunch of mechanics and gameiness in it that is completely unnecessary and unenjoyable. The porn here looks good, but the dev seems determined to make it annoying to get to for some reason.
I'll probably give it another shot at some point because i do like the tags and the look of it but right now i'd only recommend to people who really don't mind poking around in a obtuse sandbox to unlock sex scenes

• Story: It's messy, really messy, I didn't really get anything aside from being some sort of Matrix-esque world. The sexual development, especially the incest, is too fast and without any sort of reasoning behind it, it happens because it's a porn game. The build up for the sex scenes is quite lacking.
• Gameplay: The amount of locations the sandbox has is small, but the progression of events with it is messy, and half the time you don't really know what you have to do, as the hint system isn't accurate, or events that can happen are not shown. Also, I think there's some issue with the tracking of the unlocked/remaining scenes. Having everything in the phone is a pain as well, hints at least should be more handy, especially with the frequency you end up using them. Regarding the phone, if the features are not implemented, don't add the icons, it's ugly seeing the "Not yet implemented" message. A bug where the game couldn't subtract an item popped when giving aphrodisiac and wine to the aunt. One thing I could recommend is that aside from the "hidden" money spots, you could make other interactables more clear, for example, which chair you have to click in the classroom.
• Content: It has a fair amount, but as I mentioned above, the progress is far from smooth, so you're gonna be having some difficulties going through some of it.
• Grammar: Needs a proofreader, it's not engrish, but it has grammar issues nonetheless.
• Animations: They're as short as a pig's kick, no or barely any flavour text while they go on, a couple of clicks and they're over, lame.
• Graphics and models: While I think the graphics are the advantage of the game, as there're not as many games graphically similar to this one, the models are bad, the dude's dick is deformed af, and while they're intended to have such extreme proportions, the female models' sliders went a tad too far, but this last bit is my personal opinion. A little addendum here, the Halloween decorations' quality honestly sucks, you should re-render the locations with the decorations or edit them to properly blend as stickers.
• Music: Some songs are alright, some are boring or the generic ones that you've heard in a bunch of games already.

So, in short, has "unique" graphics and with some needed polishing it can become something good. As it is now, I can't recommend playing it, so wait for a few updates more and give it a try.

The game has good art, some semblance of story that got me curious what will come later, ok gameplay and writing. So why only 3 stars?

Sex scenes have hot animation, but it's being played without any text or anything to support it so it breaks immersion: one second you play the game, read a VN and the next you are watching a 10 seconds loop, not good. Then amount of content is pitifuly low after a year of updates which doesn't help.

From what I've heard the public version had content removed compared to patreon version that would explain lack of content and would make me want to rate it even lower, just in consideration of time wasted playing this for such a meager payoff.

PRO:
- good ui (but have some flaws like imposed ui elements and dialog elements not fit in screen)
- some hints present in game(but in 50% they r useless)
CONS:
- bugs. like after restarting game ur money ll be reset to zero, so use console eith inventory.money=1000. other bugs not serious like in monday u must go to school, but map not unlocked, so u must sleep one day to unlock and only then u can go to school
- terrible cg. its from "sims" and looks like ****. when i see lowpoly ugly clothing in ig cg my eyes bleeding like waterfall
- actualy hints in that version useless, cuz 50-70% time pointing wrong
- near 15 scenes cuted off in that piblic version. i mean- not blocked, instead- completely removed all- labels with code, scene code, cg related to that.

dev, remake ur game, use daz or illusion instead that ****.
in current game state i ll not recomend to play that game

Quite a charming game! A somewhat unique style, in terms of models, that grew on me! Soundtrack is pretty decent. Animation is a bit wonky in some regards I feel, but it's not too big an issue. I liked the characters too! Liz is cute! Story had a few surprises, so I'll look forward to seeing how it all turns out!

Pretty great game for a first release. There was more content than I expected, the girls are all quite attractive, there were no major bugs that I noticed.

Some criticisms:

• Navigating through areas is pretty tedious.
• There's a lot of grinding required, and it's not very fun to do.
  • In the long term, maybe smaller rewards for getting to certain relationship levels before the big events could make the player feel like their grinding is worth something.
• The rendering is weird in some scenes. The

• MC's dick is a weird shape, even for its size. I don't know if that's intentional, but it really threw me off.

Some great stuff:

• The character models are excellent. Sometimes you just want enormous tits on small characters, and this game has got that.
• There was way more content than I expected for a first release. 17 scenes is enough for a small game, but this is just the first release.
• The Kate and Liz characters feel pretty real, even if they are a bit cliche.

5 stars for potential, initial game size, character models, and some of the characters personalities.

A nice game with a great foundation and unique art style style. Still a little rough around the edges but could have a bright future. The story isn't too absurd but is still fun and obviously unrealistic.. Has a decent amount of content for its initial release as well.

I like the well shaped boobs.

But it's all in such low resolution, with disturbing effects, bad textures and absent animations.

It's grindy. You'll be moving back and forth doing the same things over and over, until something happens. Click click click click.

Environments are fairly bad, but not awful.

Characters are shallow, and if there is a story i didn't catch it.

The Wants of Summer is a game where you will either love it or hate it. I fall into the prior. I adore these characters and scenarios. Cg's and animations are great. If you like thicc big titted women and a slight grind then this is for you.

I wanted to like this game. The art style, while not to everyone's taste, is unique, and at least amusing to me. What kills the game for me, and to me shows that the developer hasn't read reviews for similar games, is the grind. I decided to just concentrate on one character (Kate), and ran her relationship up over 200. With the exception of one kiss that happened very early on, there has been exactly zero progression in scenes. The quest log just says I need to advance my relationship with her. Either the quest log is wrong, and there is a requirement that's not listed, or that's a totally stupid amount of grind.
Once more for the devs who haven't been paying attention: Grind isn't fun, and adds nothing to your game except inflating your play time numbers.
This one goes in the "Don't Bother" folder, and yes, I actually have a folder by that name to keep track of bad games to I don't accidently waste my time.

I like the soundtrack, its really nice and suits the game. Character models are in my taste and the game itself has simple but nice visuals. As of now there are two animated scenes, I think? and they are good quality.

Looks promising and the characters are right up my alley. I hope the developer continues to work on this game. because of the simplicity of models it has the potential to contain a lot of content in every single update. I suggest adding "optional" trans(top/bottom) content in the future updates as well.
