Excellent! I really, really enjoyed this unashamedly brief yet diamond bright gem of an experience.
I've no idea what TLOL means (surely not The Language of Love?), but I think I would have chosen TLOC: The Language of Consent, for this is what I truly liked about what I consider, rightly or wrongly, to be the underlying theme of this tale.
I really enjoyed the many subtle touches on the different influences affecting both Joel and Ellie. How Joel felt his age gave him a sense of fatherhood towards Ellie with the powerful sense of caring and protection it clearly brought and which caused him to feel so confused and compromised both in admitting, and surrendering to, the innate desire of a man for a woman, a young woman.
I liked the bravery in trust exhibited by Ellie (though, on reflection, perhaps bolstered somewhat by the power of lust) in admitting to Joel that despite her predilection for women over men, she nevertheless had also desired him (or rather, perhaps, his body) for a long time.
I also was impressed by how finely balanced the trust between them was shown to be in the alternate ending offered, where, when Joel's desire ultimately swept away his senses, he forsook the respect and principles he had hitherto shown towards Ellie throughout their union and, I regretfully believe, reverted to type, forcing himself upon her and, in so doing, destroying the happiness that is shared between them in the other ending and paying the ultimate and clearly, for him, unthinkable price.
None of the aspects of the story; language, style etc not liked by the other reviewers diminished in the slightest my great enjoyment and appreciation of the skill and effort put in by the Dev. To my mind and eyes, all aspects blended perfectly into a wonderful experience that I enjoyed very much and that I do so hope many subsequent viewers will also have and take the opportunity to savor.
Thanks AlexZeroOne for the honor and the pleasure. I appreciate it and, as I just said, I hope many more will too.
