Ren'Py - Total Degeneracy Island [v0.03x] [SID Gaming]

I love the art, I love the gameplay actually feeling like a game, rather than an oddly formatted comic, and I like the repeatability offered by the way the game is set up. The characters are fun and the writing makes me like them even more than in the show, which I actually got back into because of this game (I'd last seen it as a kid back when it was airing). I'm so excited to see this continued and I wish the best to Sid.

the game is really good and very promising, i feel like i am really in the tv show, but i have 3 complains

1: the minigames are "useless" well, useless is not the word, but i think you need to improve them a little

2: there are too many "dead hours"between the events but again, i think they need a little of improvening

3: the elimination choices, i am in favor about the dialogue options but if you cant safe yourself from the elimination with dialogues with the others or winning their trust, you cant watch the option you want with X girl

A solid premise, has a decent amount of content for this early of a build too. Still, obviously, this remains an early build, and the content overall is limited (Would have put this as 4* but I feel docking points for it being an early build is unfair). Hope to see more added as the game continues updating, and I should be able to comment further on this.

The mini-games aren't too bad, besides being simple, and it's probably best being keep that way to avoid them becoming too tedious in the long run. I do appreciate their inclusion, though, but do wish that a requirement for winning or losing could be shown so players could know what they're aiming for.

Art style is mostly faithful to the show (which I love), with some changes made to spice up certain characters. I'm glad this hasn't been taken too far and characters haven't been morphed into something not representing them.

Definitely a fan of this so far and hope to see more scenes in new updates.

Basically it boils down doing the same hot tub scene/ talking to people (no real meaningful options, just relation gain pretty much no matter what you pick) over and over and the occasional boring af mini game to still be voted off after dodgeball because heaven forbid you wanted a scene after 20 mins ig

I had high relation with everybody on team/ half the total campers and still got voted off, and truth be told after the mid time I had before that point not even gonna try again...just slink off to rule34.xxx and search for pics there ig

Wait for some real scenes to be added, and download a save off of somebody fam

It's mega fun to play this game, supper excited for future updates.
Static scenes look awesome and animations are very good for this style.
Mini games could use a little optimisation but they are fun to play besides one that is optional (it's a bit too long for a countdown mini game for my taste, that's all).

Sincerely recommend everyone to give this one a try, you will be hocked

As of version 0.02 there may not be a lot of content but the foundation is very promising. I hope this game will live up to it's potential. The writing is fun and keeps in touch with the vibe of the original cartoon, art is very nice, I just hope the developer will keep up this quality

There have been lots of TDI spin offs, but I hate how they always use Cody as MC. I really dont like him. So props for using an OC. His random insert just fits the vibe of the series.
The sprites look pretty legit, and the vibe feels cool. Needs a lot of work on content though.
It did surprise that it already had 3 tasks, but it needs more to content in between. Seems only a few have scenes, like the hot tub ones, but they seem pretty straightforward to make for the rest of the cast. Also would love more flexibility in the routes and for it to not stick 100% to the original story.
If the author stays on this and doesnt let the project die, I think TDI has a pretty loyal fanbase that could maybe lift this up.

(Also, reading other reviews, I think a voting prediction system could be really nice. A place where you could see what type of decision other contestants will take after you ask them, so you can focus on who to try to convince. However the approval being the requirement for the vote definitely needs to change, dialogue choice based would be better. Or at least more decision choices to get/loose more approval.)

Great game so far, albeit not a ton of content. Looking forward to any new updates. Wished it gave you a little extra time between events, so you could enjoy the scenes with all the girls and not have to worry about getting voted out.

Alright this is gold. I wasn't expecting much from the early version, but the amount of content surprised me. play time 1-2 hours of fun.

First of all, the game is just fun. I wasn't skipping most of the text because it's genuinely entertaining. It's not just a cheap parody game, it's fucking hilarious.

You play as an unscripted participant of TDI complete with mini games. Most of the fun is just reading the text though.

Not much in the way of noods but what is there is high quality.

We need more of this game, it has a lot of potential, this series deserves a good job like what you do and in terms of the gameplay of several routes it could be impressive if done well, it could even serve for several prequels and several possibilities

"I was really excited to see that someone had finally created something using the Total Drama characters, it has a lot of potential that was rarely used outside of I believe an abandoned game on here and some characters showing up in Camp Pinewood. Either way still glad Total Degeneracy is being worked on.

So how's it play?
Just like any visual novel, it's a linear story based game where it has some branching off here and there but will end up somewhat pre determined. However I think that is just due to this being the initial/ one of the earlier releases as the author has made it apparent they want the story to branch out multiple ways. It uses Ren'Py, which is a plus for me as I feel it works the best with visual novels. There's a day and night system where you can talk to the others, either by exhausting one person's dialogue tree or picking one from a handful before it switches to a new part of the day or by skipping ahead. There's an affinity system with the other campers that you can increase and decrease depending on choices.

Story?
It follows the show mostly, deviates here and there but it looks like it will try to keep that pace as far as people getting kicked off the island but adding extra scenes such as being bribed by Courtney to not vote her off. Rather than only the losing team voting someone off, it seems everyone can or you can ask everyone for their opinion on who they would choose?

Updates?
The Author is working on 3 projects at this time, this one being the most recent, but has slated the next update for Feb 2025. If keeping their pace like this, updates would be regular vs when it gets done. I'm hoping they stay consistent but you never know until it happens I guess. They've also said they're looking at doing some animations for scenes which is great.

Anything specific I like?
Honestly I really like how they replicated the original art style to a tee, as well as making the characters clearly more attractive. And with Courtney's scene where she flashes the player, it even shows she has unique nipples and areolas vs the cookie cutter copy and paste most authors do with multiple female characters. To me that shows they are going through and actually putting in effort for this. Lastly, they were able to understand the character's personalities really well. I legit thought I was watching the show for a moment or two again.

Anything specific I'd add?
Adding a character customization option(s) wouldn't hurt, choosing what gender to play as even. Some more freedom of choices would be nice, specifically during the cliff jump you only get the option to jump naked if on the Killer Bass and or during Courtney's scene if on the Gophers you don't get to go further and only see her bra. More opportunities to increase affinity with the other campers rather than waiting for specific events

Overall I'm really impressed and I'm looking forward to seeing more. I won't hold my expectations too high but so far I haven't seen anything I was getting the "Ick" from."

Honestly, a solid beginning for a show that has had a large number of substandard parodies. In this one you play as you, not any of the established characters. Gonna keep a close eye on this one since I can see it being among the best parody games. So for a starting line, I can see this gonna be awesome.

Greatest adaptation of TDI, from design to gameplay(even its only short aon). The direction of the game will be one of the top of its competitors.

Here is my game experience in detail, and support for the developer and artist:
-The writing and scene are followed from the show, but parodied well in this version.
-The character design from the girls are perfectly clean and well made to be animated from the show.
-Transition feels perfectly capture the essence of the show.
-Gameplay wise, current early version only has a puzzle game which is alright for an early release. Hopefully a better version will be made in the further or unlikely, re-release to another engine like unity.
-Story wise it follow the shows elimination pattern, which is acceptable as we are seeing this as a different perspective.


I hope this game will be advertise and supported further, especially the dev team and the artist. WE MUST NOT LOSE THIS ONE, BROTHERMAN!!!!

It does a good job of catching the feel of the series it's parodying. The art work is both good and faithful, and to top it all off it ran without any problems for me. Good job, can't wait to see more.

Game is good so far with a ton of nostalgia and a nice spin on some of the characters

It's pretty buggy though and it needs a lot of fixes, but I look forward to many more updates to come, and my main critique for the plot is the fact that you don't really seem to have much influence on the plot or the story and even despite having not watched the original total drama in years, I can tell he's just following the orginal plot to the letter without adding his own crazy spin on it like most creators on this site tend to do.

Really good start, love the on-model art (except Lindsay's huge boobs... they look out of place imo)

Excellent potential, the graphics of the original series, plus the great story possibilities, I will be watching this game very carefully, I am sure that as long as it is not abandoned it has much to be one of the best parodies/adaptations of drama island.

Initial version of the game.
It is currently a nice game, with excellent dialogues that I enjoyed reading.
One of the few games in the initial phase that I will happily follow.
I was missing an elimination game, but I don't know how scripted it will be (if the eliminations will always be the same or if our presence and our vote can actually change something).
As a lover of the original series, I can only recommend it to everyone.

Had good time playing the first upload ( v0.01a at the time of writing) good cg. artstyle is faitful to the original and if this game will have animations it's gona be 5/5 for me. I wish luck to the dev, really exited about the future of this game

Visual : 10/10 amazing that's it.
Story : 10/10 you won't get bored and you want to proceed.
MC : 10/10 the MC part is the best part because it's fit very well to TD theme.
Characters : 10/10 characters have there own unique personality.
Gameplay : 10/8 the only problem is in second freeroam there is not enough content sure you get some details from characters but in that 4 days, apart Courtney's quest you wont see anything special.
overall it's a good game.
cant wait till next update.
