Ren'Py - Town of Magic [v0.74.501 SP] [Deimus]

It's a SOUL-CRUSHING brutal grind game where most of the content is gated behind RNG and secret conditions, but the art is really cool!

Personally I'm not into the game as an h-game since the sex is kinda weak, and mostly focuses on non-penetrative lesbian & fantasy bestiality, with very little penis. Surprisingly the few things with a penis do have creampie CGs and a lingering cum visual after breaking out of their grab, but the overall weak SFX and very gentle animations make it all too softcore for what it is; it's like the most unenthusiastic monster rape ever.

Overall very recommendable if you're into lesbian stuff or simply want to enjoy the ambiance, which is very well crafted and charming.
The story is kind of dark if you seriously engage with all the monster rape, ghost rape, possession rape, the protagonist being undermined at every turn by beings that literally rob her of her agency and she explicitly does not like these things happening, etc. But the story does not engage seriously with these things so no harm done, I guess :-|

The game started off well, but ever since the developer discovered the "get possessed feature" everything went downhill imo, later on in the game you get constantly possessed by everything and everyone, it really gets annoying and repetitive and it's worse that in order for you to progress through the relationship stages you need to do so.

Town of Magic is a game whose development I've watched with great interest. The game runs on Ren'py. How the developer managed to make such a great game on such a shitty engine is beyond me. Truly a masterclass in developing.

Let's start with the story. It's, well... it just feels like the developer dumped his entire worldbuilding word document into the game between the sex scenes. Nothing changes if you skip it, and it isn't the greatest story ever.

Where this game really shines however is the customization it offers. You can make Celica (the MC) wear whatever you want. Clothing have layers that directly affect the battle sex (well, affect how many turns it takes for enemies to strip you fully.) and give you different stats. Different enemies all have unique sex animations that offer you a different niche each time. You can be paralyzed by a jellyfish, fucked by a literal Egyptian god-looking thing with a dog head and a dog's cock, perform lesbian sex, fuck slimes and so on and so forth.

The grind is LOOONG. That's one of the places the game truly fails to deliver. Mindless button-pressing turn after turn to kill enemies until you level up to... guess what? Do that shit again. It doesn't help that progression is slow too.

The art is amazing. The pixel feel of the game doesn't take away from the character sprites, and forget the MC, even the side characters are pretty attractive. Sex scenes are all animated and look great.

One of the few games I never tire of playing and return to time and time again. I would definitely recommend trying it.

Interesting case of "that's not my fetish - however, it was fun experience!"

This game is a visual novel, first and foremost.
Expect literal walls of text. Walls of surprisingly - and consistently - good text!
I tend to get grumpy when I see games like this - because books exist and reader's brain is still the best GPU on the market - HOWEVER...

Gameplay.
The careful waltz of storyline delivering text and progression enabling gameplay is mesmerizing.
As if it wasn't enough, the developer(s) have integrated a selection of interesting gameplay features, which allow cutting some corners while being FULLY IMMERSIVE.
By Loki's horse vagina, it's the first time in my life when I see a game with built-in monster-fighting bot, presence of which is being fully justified by game universe's peculiarities and game's plot twists! And I've seen alot and played alot since year 2002.
I could've never thought of an idea to just let some ghost possess player character's body and let it go do monster mashing.
And there's much more than one surprisingly good rarely seen gameplay feature inside.

The storyline revolves around (from my personal point of view) morally dubious practices of mind control and psychological manipulation.
But it's being pitched carefully. Gently. Even if you abhor these themes as much as I do, you might find this game's point of view on these PROBLEMS quite... philosophical, scientific even. And of course you're always free to stop your game experience before it's too late. Unlike most other porn games, noone will slam you face first into things you don't like (or I was damn lucky with this specific title!)

Speaking of the devil.
Here and now only mind control / manipulation centric storylines are more or less fleshed out.
"Purist" playthrough is implied but not implemented yet.
Which means that your player character won't be in your [player's] possession as often as you got used to in other games.
The game is still in active development - so, maybe, eventually, we purists would gonna have something to yeet at here too.

Actual gameplay don't have much variety either. Which is expected from storytelling-first game, though.

Oh, yes, and there's no place for males in in-game porn scenes, as far as I know (and I've beaten 40-60% of the game at best).

P. S. Special shoutout for elven mom scene after her first ghost possession. It was a really shitty day that day. However, when I've seen this scene - I laughed like a child laughs while watching a clumsy kitten's shenanigans. Not that I wasn't expecting THIS. I've... it just... damn, something in this scene's setup resonated too damn well in me. It was too funny to not laugh even at that quite shitty day.

At my first acquaintance with the game after 30 minutes I turned it off and forgot, but after some time I decided to come back and eventually it was passed to the current content, most likely the reason for this was a very boring and long introduction where nothing happens for a long time, but in general in fact the game is really not bad, but it is more a game than porn and in fact there are many problems in it

+ Characters - There are quite a few of them, they're all different and each has its own storyline, probably one of the few aspects of the game that make it really good

+ Visual style and music - I decided to combine them into one item because they harmonize very well with each other, I will not say that the music is a masterpiece and I will remember it for life, but the fantasy and visual style of this game, it fits completely

+ - Battles - At first it seems that the fights are not bad, you have spells that will become more and more over time, but there are BIG problems.

1) There are a lot of spells, but each monster has its own elemental vulnerability, so it is most profitable to use the spell that is the opposite of this element, but because of the recharge system you will be forced to use all your weak spells while waiting for the ones you need to recover.

2) Although there are a lot of spells, most of them are just attack spells with a certain element or a combination of two at once, sit and think about which spell is best to use the game does not oblige, the only exception is probably the demon lords and not all of them.

3) Ren.py engine does not have time for so quickly play animations in battles, because of which some frames of animation can simply not show up and also before the start of playing new animations there is a delay of 1-3 seconds, needless to say that on long enough battles with bosses it is simply unbearable

I could also add that 90% of all battles are just grind experience, resources, pumping items, etc. but personally I think that grind itself is not bad, it's bad when gameplay has a lot of problems because of which grind is boring and Town of Magic gameplay is 50/50.

+ - Lewd scenes - A very subjective point, I realize that the main fetishes of the game are mastering someone's body, hypnosis, living clothes, etc. But in addition to the above fetishes the game offers just vanilla sex and most often just lesbian sex, the only scenes that really hooked me were the scenes with Demoness

To summarize, I like the game more than not, given that every day comes out 20 games on Ren.py engine about “Sex and the City” and “Collect a harem of bitches” this game with all its problems looks very even worthy, I personally very much hope for a sequel and that already in it the game would be much freer in some aspects and would not limit itself to only a couple of topics

I like the idea, I like the art. But unfortunately it is boring as hell with extremely repetitive combat. Also it really needs sex sounds or moaning to make the sex scenes better. This is like an early 2000's flash game.

Genuinely one of the best games I have ever played thank you so much Deimus. The grind can be a little intense but well worth the effort. The characters are interesting the monsters are creative and unique (for a given value of unique). I can't wait to see where it goes from here, thanks again.

The game is undeniably demanding. Progressing through the story requires a significant time investment. Even with the Less Grinding mode enabled, it took me over 8 hours to get through most of the main narrative. For those playing on the standard setting, I can only wish for your patience.

That said, the story is genuinely compelling. The world-building is rich, the plot is layered, and the characters are well-developed and likeable. Unfortunately, where the game starts to falter is in its erotic content.

Despite being published as an adult game with very interesting human, elf and daemon male character variety, the sexual content feels heavily skewed toward lesbian encounters. There’s a noticeable lack of intense, male-dominant sex scenes involving the main female protagonist. Most encounters involve penetrative creatures or fellow female companions, and after such a long playtime, it’s disappointing to find so few scenes that explore penetrative sex or DOM/SUB dynamics in a meaningful or exciting way.

In summary, if you're drawn to immersive storytelling and character-driven sandbox turn-based RPGs, this game delivers. But if you're looking for a satisfying erotic experience, especially one that includes more hardcore or dominant/submissive content, be prepared to be underwhelmed. For a game in this niche, it falls short of the standard one might reasonably expect in that regard.

“A marathon of foreplay with no finish line in sight.”

An overall well designed experience both visually and mechanically. I find myself waiting and looking forward to more. The characters and story are so enjoyable that I even mostly forget about any grinding.

I played this game for an hour and didn't encounter anything worth calling porn, aside from two monsters who attempted to strip the MC. I tried losing to the monsters, but that resulted in a game over. I tried letting the monsters strip the MC, but that only results in her losing a turn. As a porn game, thus, this fails - if not for reading other reviews, I would assume it's a very poor battlefuck game.

Besides the porn, is the game a good RPG? Sort of. Good pixel art is always welcome; you're eased into the game systems nicely; the quest log and various hint-helpers signpost content well. However, most of that signposted content requires leveling the MC . . . which requires grinding. A grind would be forgivable if combat were enjoyable, and, well, it's not bad, but it's a tight, simple system - a means to an end, obviously not the point of the porn or the game.

Likewise, almost all the characters in this game are a means to an end. Shopkeepers talk about what they sell, guild mentors talk about your next quest. The librarian and your fellow guild mage are the only characters with humanity, but neither have non-goal-oriented interaction (complete this quest, find this item, etc).

So, 2/5 - this is a functional game with attractive art, but whatever story, fetish, or mood the dev wants to explore is lost amidst the systems that get you there. I'd give it more time, but no content I saw hinted at any greater sexual, social, or mechanical depth.

Its ok as a game but bad as a h-game

History and lore:
Very good, starts bad but gets better the more you play. At first you may be fooled into thinking this is just another shalow fantasy medieval game but the plot is worth your time, at least has for me.

Character development and NPCs:
Very repetitive lines, the npcs barely have a personality besides a few exceptions like Nel, even the main mc is boring and a pushover, i know she is supposed to be a sub but at least give her some control over her fate, its no fun if we cant fight back (and if we do fight back, the only "reward" is losing affection).

Romance and H:
This one is a mix of good and bad, but mostly bad. Suffers from repetitive lines and repetitive sex, even wen a new character appears you know already that she is either going to take over you body or/and do pussy licking activities, if at least there has some futas for more sex variations...

Combat and gameplay:
Very polished for a h-game, figuring out the enemie's weakness and using that as a advantage is fun, but the battlefuck is terrible and the game lags too much during combat.

Map design:
I am no expert in this, but i like it.

I love this game, the story, the graphics and the mechs but it would be nice if there was the possibility to apply the effects on the secondary characters and take advantage of them, but for that the main character would have to be corrupted (sorry for the English)

Fantastic art style paired with really nice and niche themes hampered completely by a gameplay design that makes me think the developer is a misanthrope.
The grind in this game is something takes out of a Asian mmo nightmare, and somehow often even less rewarding. You'll be spam clicking to progress a scene you've already seen five times, sometimes clicking for 5+ minutes, just to increase a relationship or unlock some new shitty area or scene, where you'll surely get to do the same thing again.

The mind control scenes are usually well done, if a bit monotonous and samey at this point, so if that's what you're into you'll likely still enjoy yourself if you don't mind the complete lack of reactions from the protagonist or the deliberately infuriating grind.

If the game was redesigned from the ground up, cutting out 90% of the pointless combat/relationship grinding, and giving the protagonist more of a personality and letting her actually react to what's happening to her, this would easily be a 5 star game.

What captured my intention at first is the art style, i just love this somewhat pixelated stylised style. And in the end i was not disappointed, both in the regular scenes and the sexual scenes. The art is even further elevated by the very hot scenarios and characters that the protagonist interlope with.

Sadly all of that is hidden behind terrible gameplay and progression. In all parts this game is very annoying to play. From the prolonged pointless grind, to the slog that is getting to see the sex and to the path of becoming stronger. Granted, it was fun for the first few hours, but then it steadily got more and more annoying to continue playing.

If you can bear the meaningless grind, then i can 100% recommend you to play this game. If not? Ehhh… 50/50.

The gameplay is horrible, random, super grindy, and I want to die. But I still completed the game. And that happened not because of beautiful pixel art and not only because of porn scenes.

I am in love with the mc and monster reactions. I am in love with the ghost lady love story development. They are so amazing, they made me play the fcking game and made me hate it.

I hate that mc just erases from the story and instead you no have to follow lady the funny ghost. I hate that the game turns into NTR heaven. where you are the one who gets ntr-ed. I hate that mc never changes. The love story with the ghost lady after some point never moves forward. I hate that you start to see the same sex animations and same sex postions(pussy licking and mc gropping) OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again. I hate that instead of development old character you get a bunch of new useless characters with little no content.

I am so pissed. There are so many opportunities to give mc some voice and actions in the story, which are missed or never used. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I am so pissed. Like there is a girl in the game named Erika. Ghost lady possesses mc and starts to make relationships with Erika. Ok, how mc react to that? She says nothing! She never even react to it with her inner voice. When some scenes happen mc just STFU and let the ghost lady rule. What about if mc likes Erika and she wants to participate in this as well, but she is afraid to do it? And after the ghost lady fucks Erika mc decides to talk with the ghost lady and ask if she can participate in relationships with Erika as well? Now you can maybe build up the conflict, now you can add mc to the story.

Idk. It feels like the game was made on the great enthusiasm at the beginning, and over time the author simply run out of strength and did not know what to do with the project.

The first thing I want to say is, I can only give unadulterated applause to a game this willing to lean into a possession fetish and provide as much content of it with an entourage of attractive women. This is a kind of game that has not been replicated since and for its uniqueness as a lesbian game featuring possession, it's absolutely worth playing if anything about it sparks your interest.

While I absolutely love the game, I do want to bring up some areas of contention:

-Grinding:
Yes, this game does require a fair level of monster slaying to boost your numbers, but I don't think it's the game breaking issue people see it as. You get to unlock items that increase your xp gain so if you know what to do, I don't think it's that much of a slog to go through.

-Combat:
Mostly perfectly serviceable, but one issue I have is when enemies can grapple you and attempt to have sex with you. This is fine for initiating sex scenes, but if you want to get out, it boils down to an irritating dice roll that brings the flow of combat to a screeching halt, and then they just grapple you again to start the vicious cycle anew!

-Character Writing:
It's really hot that so many attractive women can dominate you, but at the same time the characters can display annoying traits if you stop to think about them.

Glace is a suit of armor that can possess your body, despite the total makeover of blue armor lingerie, blue makeup, and completely different demeanor, nobody takes a second glance at you. Not even someone you're dating and routinely having sex with while possessed. This trend continues with various other characters who can control you, and your partner is just as oblivious as the previous time it happens.

Violet (A slime girl you can wear as living clothes) and Nel (A ghost girl that can possess you ) are the first that you can encounter by being available in the forest, and your confrontations with them are naturally super sexy. However, these are also both characters that stay with you as companions , and when you spend some time with them, sometimes their behavior comes off as way too pushy for that.
Both are far too comfortable with taking you away on a moment's notice to the point where it's irritating. You can equip violet as an outfit for both shielding and as an ally, but doing so can run the chance where she, in the middle of a fight, will waste a turn not attacking and instead try to molest you if you choose certain outfit styles.
There's a moment in the story where "Celica" unlocks a new power-up, sounds huge, but it isn't her who does it, not even with assistance, ghost girl Nel just takes over her body and discovers it herself. When Celica tries complaining, Nel just makes up a nothing excuse about how "we're in this together" and the story rolls along anyway, this never becomes a serious problem.

Oh yeah, Celica is just a wet towel in the plot. None of your companions who can brainwash you are given serious criticism and this leads to the game just riding along even through strange plot developments as with the Nel moment above. Despite being the player character, your autonomy is NEVER respected, you barely get to do anything important yourself. Far too many times, you just take a backseat and someone else invades your body with minimal effort to do the cool thing in your place. This is the case across multiple NPCs that can control you and have relationship questlines. As a buxom blonde lady, she's good eye candy for the sex scenes, but as a character, she's just a very flat and uninteresting prop whose non-personality never has a convincingly important impact on the story.

I've spent a good chunk of this being critical, but I really want to restate that I well and truly respect this game, it's great at providing it's distinct fetish, but sometimes it should really get some extra QOL and more robust writing to bring everything together.

A game where every single encounter must be lost. Not interested in the ghost character and defeat her twice? Game literally throws up an error, no you have to lose twice for ANY progression. And this is not a one off experience most progress is locked behind losing. Not only that the grind is absurd for items, affection with characters, anything. The rare item finder fills to 100% after a few battles, this does NOT mean you will get the item after your next battle or the next chest no, you now have a chance to get that rare item of which there are several in each area and if you leave the area or leave a fight it resets. Not only that but some enemies are designed to try to spam stun you and some of which you must fight solo. An absolute slog of a game that feels unrewarding no matter how far in you progress, scenes are alright but that is about all I can give to it's credit.

Town of Magic would be a brilliant game if not some irritating features that will make you hate it at moments.

It has a beautiful pixel art graphics with strong steampunk vibe. You will see a lot of different locations, lots of fancy clothes and lots of attractive women. The women are quite various from sweet ones to hearless bitches so you won't be bored.

There are more good things - music, correct English, lack of bugs... And it's a proper RPG game with statistics, items and levelling up which actually requires some strategy but is neither too hard nor too easy. If you know RPGs made in Japanese style (so called "jrpg") you will know what to expect.

It also has a lot of content, many, many hours of playing. And a lot of erotic scenes. The sex is generally very kinky, you won't have a standard guy-girl scenes. Instead you will have some lesbian scenes and some sex with any kind of bizarre monsters that you can imagine. Tentacle monsters, slime monsters, giant insects, ghosts, snakewomen, make your pick Even if you don't like it much, you may check it out of curiosity.

The biggest problem in the game is not grinding as some people say but unskipable cutscenes. There is a lot of cutscenes in the game and you cannot skip or fast-forward them. The seem to last forever and you have to click and click and click to advance the dialogues.

Some parts of the story could be also really shortened. A lot of the game content is about ghosts and being possessed by ghosts. It happens often, much too often. When a ghost possesses you then you don't play and just watch the game. So it is probable that at some moment you will be screaming "No more ghosts!" and it won't be a scream of ectasy

I hated it at moments but kept playing. I guess it's more enjoyment than frustration in the final result. But check it out yourself!

This game has potential to be really good but commits so many sins that make it more frustrating than anything else.

• End Game fail states on any battle loss, with no Autosaves. Meaning you have to save constantly or risk losing large amounts of progress
• RNG with loot drops so you have to suffer through spamming battles hoping to get the things you need
• Combat "difficulty" comes from enemies spamming moves that don't allow your character to act at all ,while enemies get free damage off. No actual way to mitigate this besides getting lucky with RNG
• Biggest porn-game sin of them all; significantly more grinding/gameplay than there is porn

Art is decent, gameplay is more or less fun, music decent, story decent. In other words, this game could be really good but falls short because once again a porn Dev decided to make his game annoyingly tedious.

Where great art meets okay game design and the most frustrating plot I have EVER been party to, and while that may be personal preference, I actually care about the plot quite a bit for these sorts of games.

Thanks to Nel, every cool thing you are able to do is attributed to someone else, and the game has the nerve to prevent you from progressing the story without letting Nel take more and more of your character's autonomy away with each plot beat to the point I have to ask why the game isn't on autopilot. It's strange and frustrating in a way that has nothing to do with the game's overt rape erotica. The mental domination plot just sucks to the point of draining all joy from every character, and to add insult to injury, the author does it again, twice, with TWO more characters taking away the protagonist's autonomy. The worst part of the game gets the triple repeat treatment.

The outfit system is cool, I like the gear mechanics, the art is great as I said, and the supporting cast mostly ranges from harmless to neat, though nobody really stands out. Nel sucks as a character because all she does is make you the player impotent, and the armor chick is just Nel 2.0. The demoness meanwhile is Nel 0.5, because at least she has the curtesy of being irrelevant. Oh and slime girl is Nel 0.8 because at least she's endearing. I take it back, the cast ranges from painful to neat.
