VN - Ren'Py - Troubled Legacy [v0.20] [Blackthunder_vn]

Updating the review for v0.5:

Well, if the game wasn't a cluster before, now save games are broken and there's no option for players to start with the latest update. I kinda want to see if some of the crazy inconsistencies I complained about before are fixed, but games are for recreation and that would be work.

I just played this for the first time and played all the way through the end of "v0.0.17.5 Part 2 final". The game has some good visuals, but the writing is really poor.

The story moves very quickly and there are many gaps that leave the reader wondering, then there appear to be many combinations of visuals and writing that are inconsistent simply because the developer wanted to use specific render models.

For example:

- the MC, Edith, and the 2 girls live in a mobile home (not motor home, BTW) and are tight on money, but they drive a new Range Rover.

- After the first meeting with the lawyer, they go to a house, and are still between the car and the front door when Edith says she'll put on her bikini and go out by the pool. This was a last-miunte trip where Edith didn't know where she would stay or how long she would be there, so why the hell would she pack a swimsuit?

- During the fight with the 3 goons, there's a car (Plymouth Baracuda convertible?) in the driveway. Sophie arrives shortly afterward in her police car to arrest the goons. Later, Sophie returns this time walking in athletic clothes, and then drives away in that car. Who does that car belong to?

- In one scene Edith tells the MC she has gone 15 years without an orgasm. She literally started off the scene rubbing herself, so this means she masturbates but hasn't masturbated to orgasm for 15 years?

These gaps and inconsistencies are endless.

The relationship building between the MC and the girls in the game moves even faster than the rest of the story. It seems like 2 days is the maximum any girl can wait before having some kind of sex with the MC.

The dev apologizes for the poor English (and it is very poor), but then at the end of the game content, the developer thanks no less than 3 people for their help with the English translation. Wow, here's a tip: if you need help translating your writing into English, find somebody that actually can speak and write good English.

I struggled to even give this game 3 stars. I'm going to keep an eye on it, but I don't expect it's going to get better. It's just so broken from the start it will be hard to fix without re-writing and/or re-rendering most of what's already been done.

MC is powerful, rich, handsome, has a huge dick, and all the girls are thirsty for him so yeah your typical harem game, but I expected as much, so I enjoyed it. And it doesn't hurt that there is a variety in girls, and all of them are good-looking. The renders are decent the writing is average, but 99% of the games are like this, so no big deal.

My thoughts, ONE YEAR LATER. Have not changed. When I booted this up, it said things have changed and you needed a new save. So immediately, I had hope. And immediately, that was wrong. It was just because the walkthrough added label jumps. The ONLY thing that has changed is the "joke" the dev made about chasing girls. This is your typical poorly translated, minimal effort, every female is in love with MC after 12 seconds GARBAGE. Is no one here tired of the same stuff over and over?

The MC is a broke photographer in love with his sister, then suddenly, an alpha male fanfic that the women buckle at the knees for, for NO reason. All he does is validate their existence or acknowledge their makeup, and miraculously, they all become middle schoolers with a crush. Practically all the dialogue is repeated three times in a row. "Wow, you're so hot." "I can't believe how hot you are" "MC do you see how hot I am?" And the omniscient perspective means you hear all the thoughts the characters have, THEN THEY REPEAT IT OUT LOUD almost every time. And the faux slow burn some of the characters have is just because the dev makes the fake "bad timing" trope happen 409568 times. Also there is a line in this that is literally "Are my bongos big enough for you" AND that's after TWO awful record scratch jokes. "The only good men are gay, and since MC loves his sister, his adopted baby isn't even male because he might take MCs women away."

If you've NEVER interacted with a real woman before, don't use this as a template to talk to anyone. Not the sexual dialogue, not the alpha crap, and if you want a quick laugh go ahead use the flirtations. But this is a testament to how Dev's don't improve and just live in their positive echo chambers. The ONLY positive thing I can think to say is the lighting doesn't abruptly change between images and their animations. Other than that, Default UI, stiff poses, and the same DAZ models you see everywhere. If that gets you going, by all means eat this up.

Somehow this is the first time I've even seen this game, you know my "early 0.07" review thing.(At the point of writing I didn't see the changelog and hadn't looked back yet) But now, currently I'm only a little bit into the KINETIC NOVEL, I realize why. I don't like to review, or realistically, pick apart a game until it's just a pile of scraps, novels because these aren't really stories so much as a "best possible outcome for a human being." One, the 'devs' never revise, re-render, or spellcheck old chapters. Two, eventually they get higher quality CGs that make quality jumps awful. And three, English is always the second language and the google translate is insufferable. And I just tend to use my auto clicker through them. ANYWHO those are my KN gripes.

THE REAL REVIEW STARTS HERE----------------

Since this is just a story, I'm going to critique the writing, not game experience. Seeing as hitting left click 3 times a second isn't really a game... This game LITERALLY OPENS UP WITH the dev "Blackthunder," mind you, saying "I didn't study, I chased girls." Which even if it's a self-deprecating joke it's one you make subtley to your friends not locked in forever in a porn game. So that fried my brain immediately. Then you find out you play as nameless "MC" god's gift to women, they orgasm just at the thought of hearing you fart through a cell phone. Your NOTmother, NOTolder sister, and NOTyounger sister are a happy family that barely get by in a single wide trailer. You get a call that your grandfather died, and you get the inheritance. You meet the lawyers and end up in your new estate. Somehow they made your NOTmother quit her job without her knowing and corner you into taking the deal with the only problem being grandpa's old assistant that does crime. So you, being the purest of heart maidens, agree to solve without any crime or problems. Immediately get in a fight with the underlings that happen to be related to the assistant, and everyone declares their undying love for you.

I looked. And I mean looked really hard to see something I missed. but all that exposition and stuff happens over the course of like 10 lines of dialog. I blinked and thought I accidentally leaned on the CTRL button. At the time of typing this I even restarted to see if I missed anything AGAIN. But no. This is all thrown at you at light speed and you, the poor maiden you are, have to seduce everyone because the only other males that exist are the three you beat up at the beginning. And when I say seduce, I mean casually brush against them accidentally and they suddenly irrigate all liquid from their body to the floor. Your character is so pure of heart, all the houses you own are solar powered. The only reason I know that is one of the early scenes the houses in the background (you own all of them btw..) the solar panels disappear and reappear magically.

This story snowballs so damn much. So you now own a whole street that has plenty of houses, a photo studio, a night club, a sex club, a light house and a giant robot. Obviously those last two are facetious but still. Lucky for you there's no residents, workers or living beings around that could possibly foil your plans. You hold a group interview, save an abused married woman, and become the surrogate father to her unborn child all simultaneously. When you talk to the wife beater in front of a cop you made fall in love with you by saying you're never gonna break the law, you bribe and threaten him and she giggles. Then you get a gun pointed at you by a woman, and to save yourself you turn around and essentially say "I'd love to fuck you" and that makes her stop. And you have sex.

Luckily, for me, the game abruptly stops as soon as you start one on one interviews almost mid sentence. So now I know to just ignore this one. As well as not seeing the KN tag I didn't see that it's only the like 4th version. Shows how much I read(which I usually do..) I've seen enough to know that this story will just be infuriating to me. The reason this isn't one star is there's still a little effort on the dev's side but not the kind I'd want. So congrats to the 3 people that made it to the end of this review, and if you did, this game is obviously not for you since you want to be informed and have a fully developed frontal lobe.

Like it so far. Just give a short review as the game hasn't come so far yet. If it continues like this I'll let my 5*star stand (like the d i c k of the MC).

Likeable story, I'm a sucker for good-guy-stories. The girls are pretty and a lot of variation. Sometimes the conversation is so-so, but their *thoughts* is what really makes it good. And for guys and girls who like lewd scenes to pleasure them selves to, there are some really good ones also. *Not that I would do such a thing!*

Nice VN without sandbox elements with nice story . Renders are gud not amazing but it's better than HS games with nice characters .Story is pretty much kinetic novel atm but the dev promises to add choices in the near future . Gud luck blackthunder with ur game added to my wishlist , have to watch out for future updates.

So as August 2025 this game became quite horrrible, the kinetic side is always here, the story already poor is now very horrible, the death part is WTF ? and you are forced to choose character ever if you don't want to with a magical dick that draw in absolutly ALL women.

Don't play it, as i drop it.

If you hate just read don't even download it.

The story is totally awful, we know who think what but you don't bother to explain some things for instance, why the hero choose to help or not help.

It's the first game I juste enable unseen text push ctrl and see no choice at all and don"t event tell it beforehand in the tags.

Edit : add one star since it damage to much the overall note of the game and since it's not a buggy game I don't want to arm to much the game.

Interesting stories (after some explanation), good rendering will have be perfect if it wasn't a kinetic. so I will note Good (for those who like kinetic).

The developer has laid a very good foundation that I feel will be an outstanding game. The story is very good, and the women look amazing. There is some minor spelling errors, but since english is not their first language it is not so bad. I will be watching this game and can't for the next update.

Another male MC wearing that godforsaken ugly shirt. Surly someone has modeled a better looking shirt in DAZ for men. Anyways, right off the bat the dev apologizes because english is not his first language and the translation could be rough, which is nice. That adjusted my expectations for the N part of the AVN.

That being said, it's set up to be a very average porno/harem game. Ever heard of a kissgasm? Cause those are a thing in this game. The MC is another chad thundercock that can fuck any girl he wants with literally no effort and every girl he meets is already dripping wet from the sight of him. Pretty much those exact words are said a few times in the playthrough up to this point (v.01).

Not much thought has gone into the story so far. Man's parents die, he goes to live with totally not his aunt and cousins, and inherits a lot of money. There seems to be an intriguing future with with the driving storyline. But other than that, the MC is a faultless, flawless sexgod. The women are literally tripping over each other to ride the MC all the way to O town. The villains so far are scoobydoian in nature.

I'm not asking for Game of Thrones level of character depth and story layering. But there could be more here to even reach the bare minimum. It's V.01, it has room to improve. The renders are decent but the faces are a little weird and uncanny valley esque. If you want to play a game strictly about building an incestuous harem of every single woman you meet, this is for you.

I'm not going to give less than 3 stars. I haven't been through this VN since April of 2021 and the first thing I come across is, WHERE IS THE FIRST 6 DAYS OF THE NOVEL?
I wanted to start over from the beginning and enjoy the whole VN, but NOPE! Just dropped me on day 7( I think) and off we went.
Why can't I go through the entire VN?

OVERVIEW
I remember playing the demo and thought it had potential. Now that I can't start over from the beginning I'm going to have to give this a hard pass for future updates. I believe I would have better things to say if I could actually enjoy this VN from the beginning. Not sure if that can be fixed though.
