Is there a way to save the game? I have saved the game, but when I exit and re-enter the game, the save is gone.
They put anti-piracy measures in the first game for awhile. The horror!
what kind/type of anti-piracy/drm? Is it denuvo (hard to crack, no one active cracking it right now), always online, or some other DRM?
Quick summary of everything that happened before
Tunnel Escape was for a while in /Translation Requests.
Think thats a good summery please let me know if I forgot shit.
- The Japanese version (later English version) got shared there.
- The dev decided they didn't like that lol. Asked to stop sharing it and got an obvious "no".
- Came back to insulting everyone, while Elzee deleted all msgs and got banned some quotes can still be found here. Also the whole lore should be in that thread.
- Started to implement a "Code" DRM where you have to input a code that verifies online.
- If its wrong at some point it could seriously damage your PC - this was implemented as the new code obviously was shared with the game
- Got Patreon and (I think Itch too) suspended because the game was reported being dangerous what was correct
- "Downgraded" the code to only may corrupt/deletes saves.
- "Downgraded" again to only close the game, that was the last version before it got cracked.
- All the above, well to nobodies surprise fucked the subs too
- (Note all the Code stuff is from Memory I could be slightly off)
- Ohh btw Elzee blames pirates for the code shit, that WE implemented the dangerous version of the code DRM
- I think we only got like 2 or 3 cracked version until the stream release happened anyways.
- Now the game is published by Saikey Studio whoms even has an account here. And the game on Steam is DRM free too LMAO
I remember reading on the first game forums about something like the rat in game symbolizes the pirates, stealing food and loot from the player. The dev really is very spiteful and turned it into comedy gold. Yeah it sucks when the thing you've worked hard on is getting "stolen"/pirated and you're not getting revenue from it, but going full nuclear and even creating DRM that can brick people's PCs are going too far lol.
The more he antagonized the pirates, the more trolls and people that like DRM free games will fight back. Unless he pays for actual good working DRM like denuvo (no active cracker) then most DRM can easily be cracked and he will only look like a fool antagonizing his audience.
It's not like majority of people here (probably 99.9%) will buy H games, either due to principle (some people think it's below them to "purchase" sexual related stuff, may it be services from prostitutes or erotica) or they are from 3rd world countries that have other things in mind before spending their hard earned cash on "entertainment" specially on the adult kind.
But keeping it DRM free is like having an open store that works with "tips". Not ideal for the developer, but the only way you can "enforce" having a DRM is if your game is "big enough" that justifies going the DRM route. Like mainstream games and big game devs/publishers. Most indie games that go DRM will more than likely just tank their sales. Since piracy may actually help "niche games" get some purchases by "offering" a free demo (that is the whole game....) and if people love it then they may support the developer by buying the game. Think of it like a "free advertisement". Which can also help the dev's next games since they can build a reputation/fanbase for themselves.
Things like Black souls, that game went semi main stream and would not have that reach if that H game has DRM and it would probably not have reached its current sales amount.
Many mainstream normal games also are DRM free yet people bought them because of the Quality. Baldur's Gate 3 is one notable example. Also buying DRM for an indie dev can be expensive, and they may potentially lose more money/profit due to the monthly/ up front cost of the DRM and their sales.

It wasn't just anti-piracy, iirc. The dev coded an actual piece of malware (whether intentionally or not doesn't matter) that would brick your computer and fuck up your CPU, even if you were a legit supporter.

no they dont, they dont own your computer just the game, making the game crash everytime is opened is one thing, another completely fucked thing is him destroying a 5000$ computer just to protect his game from piracy

There is a reason why there could be legal ramifications if you spread malware. Which is what this dev did. And I'm more inclined to believe it was intentional too. So yeah, this is just a bad take.

it did shut down your PC making it crash, and i think a blue screen, however, i never heard anyone report that their pc got actually damaged
now some people would argue that such a thing happening to your PC WOULD cause damage that if not noticeable right away will be in the long run, but i'm not sure about that

Chinese dev, Chinese game, who knows what could be on there. I guess it's just best to stay away from the game and not be horny for the sake of my pc safety

nah man, that's what I though at first too.
But the occasional Chinese text that appear in the game just made me wonder and dig deeper
The dev hide his nationality very well, most of his social sees him only interacting in English
BUT, in their old youtube video, you can see his Windows is completely in Simplified Chinese
So unless they're a Japanese using Chinese as their main language for some reason, Im like 95% sure they're from China
