Hi, I'm asking this here since it doesn't completely fit into other sections (troubleshooting, feature request or site problems).

I was aware at some point that there was a two-step verification option named "Backup codes", but I cannot find it in my case. I thought it was the most useful for me, since it doesn't require me to download an app or tie a device to a R-18 site (even if indirectly), and works completely offline.

Is that option removed for good?

No, I believe the 2FA authentication option for 'Backup Codes' should still be an option that is still present to apply for your respective account if you so wish to.

You need to go into your account, password and security, and add 'Backup Codes' as an 'Enabled Method'

So I redid my two step with Verification code via app. Everything went fine, I can use it. But I cannot generate new backup codes, because I can't click anything, see screenshot. Or is the backup codes the same as before?

says you currently already have 1 strong two-step verification option setup on your current account. you can maybe generate new backup codes by disabling the two step verification and then re-enable it again and see if you can generate new backup codes

and i do recall disabling and re-enabling this feature a few months ago, and i believe if you do that it will allow you to generate new backup codes, there maybe something currently preventing you to generate backup codes maybe because you already have the feature/option already setup on your account. Please let me know if what i wrote is helpful to you, good luck.

Thank you for your help! The solution was to disable the whole thing completely, not just disable verification code via app.
