And now here comes .

Last I checked, Xbox wasn't selling blatant porn games. So it's little do to with safety and 100% about control.
Can't have a child accidentally see a boob in Witcher while being called a variety of violent and racial slurs over voice chat.

Also doing it now will help them later when they implement the 2-hour gaming limit for minors as well.

The UK have been heading toward becoming a police state for quite a while, no surprise they would do something like this, the problem is the US and the EU seem to want to do something similar, and most people are just going to accept it I fear.

Thought experiment:
An exercise in toxic compliance. What if HYPOTHETICALLY people in the UK start purposefully tattling to Ofcom for any perceived breach of TOS. The law is like 3000 pages long so anything would really work. Ultimate goal being getting the big providers scared to do business in the UK so they pull out completely which would be quite the headache.

Anyone else find it kind of funny how hilariously unenforceable this thing is? You're really going to try and fine EVERY site that doesn't comply? I'm not sure they know how the internet works.
There's laws against murder, theft, rape, and so many other things, and they are hilariously unenforceable, especially in big countries. Yet they exist.

It's never about preventive enforcement; as entity (citizen and companies) you've to follow the law by yourself, and it's enough for 99% of the entities. After all, so far OfCom haven't even send a single warning. The biggest actors are reacting by themselves, and even in a stupid place like here there's more than one discussion about it.
The enforcement come later, case by case, each time some infringement is discovered.

If you're from the UK
There's a government petition to repeal the Repeal the Online Safety Act and as a result the UK age verification laws

While there's still the Parliamentary Debate to happen
There is a response from the UK government, and yes, it is exactly what we expected the response to be

the Internet of today is ingrained in society, how disadvantaged are you going to make those growing up now and in the future if you curtail access until they turn 18.

Once again this comes back to parents doing their damn job and raising their kids.
well maybe it would make better sense to create separate platforms for non adults and adults, doing that would make the internet safer well in the most logical sense that would be.

This has nothing to do with online safety for anyone, it's about government control over our lives just as it is in China. The UK government fawns over China like some subservient slave afraid of being punished by their master. The Chinese Communist party has been financing the Labour party, now in government, for decades, you can guess why. The EU is not much different in that respect, especially now Trump is in office, they hope to play China off against the US for their own benefit but it's bound to backfire as most of their schemes do.

Kids are just an excuse, it's all about control. You start with this, and it only gets worse from here.
You're completely right

an interesting read is 'Not in Front of the Children' by Marjorie Heins which covers the long history of this argument and it's flaws.

a fun little part of it is this

"The U.S. Supreme Court upheld Ginsberg's conviction, ruling that the New York State Legislature was not required to prove a tangible negative impact on youth from exposure to sexually explicit material. The Court said the New York State Legislature only needed to assume that such an impact existed "

Gotta love when the courts decide that feeling's matter more then evidence and facts XD

This.... television had a rating system in place, movies, video games.... yet no rating system for websites or apps. There should be some guidelines about what is educationally exempt, utilities (like uber) & then the general entertainment through to higher up. Anything unrated by default should be 18+

Basically there should be an onus on websites & apps to prove (like in film and literacy and games) that they are suitable for certain ages. The approach being taken is madness, because the internet is so vast you would be FAR better off checking things at the gate to a safe space than trying to partition off the unsuitable bits.

Like video games with 'online interactivity' get a rating accordingly, yet a social media app?!

They got egg in their faces when it was reviled that they refused to stop the migrant rape gangs. That's why they're doing this. So when something like that happens in the future, all you will have is the TV to tell you what to believe. The U.K, England specifically, has always hated freedom of expression and speech, from the kings of old, to Thatcher, to this knob leading them now. They want control over the minds of the populace. They're gonna try this in the U.S as well, but it wont go over well. We riot every other week for less. Doesn't matter the party affiliation.

Well in regards t F95 there are Thresholds...outlined below

It seems a site needs to have a certain amount of monthly traffic from UK users to be considered.

Doing the math...not sure how accurate it is but F95 gets about 67k per month of user traffic from the UK.

Compare that to something like Pornhub which is...

This might be completely anecdotal, but my internet speed when using this site is completely hitting the bricks. I wonder if they're going to be rate limiting any adult sites that don't conform to their censorship BS.

The disappointing thing for me is how so many people want to live in the totalitarian 1984.

I feel like there are a lot of people who only live in this "here and now" concept and can't wrap their mind around the future consequences of their actions today beyond what they think they want to see right now.
