View attachment 5241201 If u meant this settings then u wrong (it only switches from imagemagick to nconvert+avif and from SVT-AV1 to av1_nvenc), if nconvert (webp) or cwebp selected then it would never compress to avif/av1 unless stages 1 and 2 triggered or stage 3 after stage 1+2 compress:
1) View attachment 5241205 enabled
2) Game supports avif/AV1
3) View attachment 5241215 disabled and compressed not supported av1/avif game engine version after compression of supported.
Avif is image format like webp for example, currenly only CPU powered support. AV1 is video format like VP9 for example, can be compressed by GPU if u have supported model and enabled av1_nvenc and by CPU (using SVT-AV1 encoder that all modern enough CPU should support).
I meant these lines Снимок экрана 2025-09-12 205205.png How do they relate to this checkbox Снимок экрана 2025-09-12 205454.png ? As I understand it, the lines affect the compression of images, while the checkbox affects the compression of videos, and they do not depend on each other. Is that correct?

If selected webp that means u can convert video to any supported format except AV1, if selected avif it means that AV1 format also supported alongside other supported formats if you agreed to it when asked during selection of avif image tools.

(install at UAGC v3.1.3 v21 or newer):
- For video benchmark added av1_nvenc, av1_amf and SVT-AV1 encoders support
- For RenPy (main) compressor removed ffprobe usage when not really needed (5-15% speed boost for videos compress), again since forgot to disable it in one case so total video compression speed boost was increased.

Quick question, I think the option to limit the image process speed isn’t working. I’m using the main Ren’Py compressor with the AVIF option, and even if I check the limitation box, I still end up with 40+ parallel processes (nconvert or ImageMagick), which maxes out my 64GB of RAM. Is this normal behavior? An option to limit the number of parallel executions would be ideal (for example limiting to 10/20 or 30 simultaneous processes)

Do you only use the 'Limit images processing speed' checkbox, or do you also switch the line 'Ogg/Img speed' from MAX to 9?

(install at UAGC v3.1.3 v21 or newer):
For main RenPy compressor added feature nconvert (avif) process limit, it takes amount of parallel processes from ultrafast ffmpeg settings (currently 12 max for test but it's easy to make more, default = 6). Currenly no images progress shown (based on feedback I'll consider to add it if this feature wouldn't be worthless) if those feature enabled, images donoring wouldn't work too (not possible to add). Also tweaked svt-av1 preset from 8 to 7 (slower but better quality and a bit smaller size) coz with 8 according some tests it doesn't have difference with VP9 besides that encoding to svt-av1 is much faster.
Upd: In test2 fixed new feature failed to work for path with spaces and enabled again proper working (processed only webp images, now all types works again) with disabled feature.

It set to 9

Thanks a lot but it not work. It correctly detects all images, but it doesn’t convert any of them.

But u didn't even enabled dat feature according ur screenshot 1758115754291.png , try to test at some smaller (not compressed to avif) game (don't enable video and audio since for test its pointless). Also new feature currently don't supports auto avif/AV1 since in testing stage to determine if it worth efforts to improve it further or not. So for test select nconvert (avif), activate nconvert (avif) process limit, disable audio and video (or not, just to make it faster testing). Also make sure that game path don't have spaces in folder names, rename if needed or move game to folder without spaces (currenlty limitations of test version of feature). And I've forget to say that in test build disabled nconvert (avif) if case nconvert (avif) process limit is disabled (but in test2 version I enabled it back and make work for path with spaces).

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Sorry about the option — I forgot to enable it... When I enable it, there’s no change, it still doesn’t work. Below is my full feedback.

Test 1 version: fails regardless of the option state (checked/unchecked).
Test 2 version: succeeds when the option is checked (Thanks a lot!!!).

Here are the issues encountered:

UAGC does not use the custom quality setting; once compression starts, I see “images quality” switch back to 65 in the background. Note that I don’t know if it’s related, but whatever value I put in the settings is not preserved when I launch the program (issue present in previous versions; I forgot to mention it).

1758127261442.png

I tried to stop mid-process with the dedicated button when I noticed the quality parameter issue; it did exit UAGC, but I still had nconvert.exe processes running even though the UAGC process was down. To stop everything I had to delete the file file_liste.txt (or img_list.txt, I don’t remember exactly).

About auto avif quality, did u pressed Enter button (as said in tooltip) when input new quality value (that marked by green cirle)? When using new feature currenlty almost impossible to stop it (coz needed rush.exe termination which problematic) unless img_list.txt manually deleted, maybe I'll add auto deletion of those file if Cancel button pressed alongside with image count support if tests of "nconvert (avif) process limit" would show that it worth efforts (still waiting for proper feedback).

Thanks press enter fix the problem :D. A game is currently being compressed, i’ll edit the message when it’s finished to report if there were any issues.

Ok, ideally info I need: PC responsiveness (comparing with feature disabled usage of nconvert+avif), average CPU usage (to know if 12 parallel processes is enough) and avif compress speed (comparing with limit feature disabled of nconvert+avif).

Strange but animations in midgame is glitchy/gittering and with uncompressed version all fine (started both at same time with same save to test) and with previous compressions it worked fine as well. I'm gonna go sleep now so if u need saves for problematic place let me know and I'll upload it when I awake.

Same problem happens again in about mid game, btw animations here is real animation as sequence of picture not video. Also I bet my money that it is same dev just under other name (it's not related but he/she/they doing game under about 3 or more dev names: InsanErotica, Captain Kitty, Nymphs, MiZtyl or at least GFX and script dude are the same).

As I remember Sons said that just recompressed the game again to make it work (I advice to try other tool: for example if u tried nconvert then try cwebp and so on or donor from version that works), here is save file if u wanna test/see it by urself.
Upd: it looks like that after save most of next scenes plays fine (but some are still buggy) so maybe better check how those buggy animations looks in not compressed version 1st and if its plays fine without stutter and blink effects there or not.

Hmm seems like cwebp did the trick.

Edit compression post updated.

Ok, ideally info I need: PC responsiveness (comparing with feature disabled usage of nconvert+avif), average CPU usage (to know if 12 parallel processes is enough) and avif compress speed (comparing with limit feature disabled of nconvert+avif).

So, I tested on “Being a DIK”:

- The PC remains perfectly responsive despite a 90–100% CPU load (AMD 3950x).
- Without the limit option, the PC becomes extremely slow with apps crashing due to lack of RAM (the 64 GB get filled up).

- With limit enabled, it took 7h30 to compress all the images.
- Without limit, I’m at 9h with missing images because some nconvert processes couldn’t start due to insufficient RAM.

Small issue though (nothing critical): after 7h30 all my images are converted (CPU load ~5%), there are no nconvert processes running anymore, and the “img_list.txt” file has been deleted. Strangely, it’s impossible to move to the next step; I found the issue came from the fact that I had “xnconvert” open (possibly UAGC checks for the process using a LIKE rather than =, thus confusing xnconvert with nconvert).

Tomorrow I’ll test on my server with a 56‑thread CPU to see if 12 processes are enough to max out utilization.

Edit: Small details, I’m running the test with “-avif_speed 3”; a higher setting will possibly require more parallel processes to fully saturate the CPU.

Strange but I compressed those files just fine using default settings with HTML compressor.
