HTML - Urban Gal [v2.0.5] [Abhorson]

I'd honestly give this 3.5 stars but I don't mind rounding up here.
Normally I don't give a shit about HTML games using "stolen" GIFs of real-life porn, however, I do actually kinda like this one. I find it more of a "mood-setter" than something I'd actually want to full-on jerk it to but it's way more enjoyable in that regard compared to similar games.

The Good Stuff:

• A lesbian mode that at least has some effort put into it. Not like it's some amazingly well-implemented thing but aside from one or two scenes that might slip through the cracks/are there for "plot" reasons, honestly it's pretty nice.
• A very simple approach compared to other HTML games. There's some stats and money to grind, but you don't have to worry about some kind of stamina/energy management (actions just take up a time slot and that's it) or having to level up some extra-specific skill like "sexy dancing."
• The text is simple, which I actually appreciate since it's not trying to spin some unique sex scenes in that clash with the GIFs used. Also helps that the author actually seems to have a better grasp on English than most others so it feels more natural.
• Avoids a lot of the typical tropes like incest and trying to pass off what's clearly a high school setting as a "university." (For what it's worth there is a university in-game but it actually feels like a proper college thing, even if it's simplified.)

The Stuff I Don't Really Care For:

• There's a lot of content that's one-time only with no way to repeat it in-game (so you're not just rewatching the GIFs in the folder.) There's also a lot that you can just completely cut yourself off from depending on your choices, which would be understandable in a choice-based VN where replayability is expected but is less fun here when you have some stuff to grind (even if it's minor.)
• A character/location might have a decent variety of scenes as you progress through the associated quest, but finishing means you're usually stuck with any revisits resulting in just one specific GIF every time. (If the game isn't just closing off your access to that character/location entirely.)
• Some actions take up multiple parts of the day in ways that others don't. You can interact with most character and have sex with them in the same time slot, but choosing to do group activity with the volleyball team and then also choosing one of the sexy interactions afterwards will eat up three time slots in a row.

Basically even with the few negatives that seem pretty harsh this is about the only real porn HTML game I bother keeping an eye on updates for.

Could be 4 but the tiny gifs and confusing gameplay draws it back.
You do whatever and have no clue of why you are doing these things. Be homeless, have an apartment, live at a dorm, rent a place. Fuck everything you see and also BBC which I hoped was avoidable (this doesn't affect the rating)

I hope the game will get updated with more stuff. Then I'll play it again and perhaps increase the rating to 4/5

I think it's a solid HTML game. If you're used to HTML games of this kind I would describe it as a less grindy and simplified version of what you would usually expect. E.G. no wardrobe system, no scenes heavily dependent on stats like mood... so no need for the stars to align to get specific scenes you're interested in.

This unfortunately also has its cost, as others mention sometimes you'd expect more consequence for certain events (you get raped and move on with your day).

As-is, there are plenty of paths and content to see so I would say there's something for everyone. I experienced a handful of bugs I hope get fixed too.

The best way to describe this game would be three simple words, "image gallery grinder" because all it really is is going around and doing events for the sake of getting various porn images and gifs to pop up.

Decent enough to fap to maybe, but not substantial enough to be satisfying.
So not bad, but nothing special, hence the three star rating.

Decently well made html game. Reasonable writing and built in cheat mode are a godsend, the grind to get scenes are all pretty fair and don't take too long.

Main issue though is that once you play through a route's progression, there's no way to play the scene again. In some cases this is kind of jarring.. for example when you go through the homeless shelter route, you eventually start to get raped by the other tenents. Once you finish the route though, all of that just suddenly stops and you stop getting scenes.

Some short storylines are starting to be added, which is always a nice addition. The UI also looks much better now - even if it's the normal clickable text links, they are easy on the eyes.

The gameplay is the usual day loop. I don't like it that you are forced to sleep at night, but at least all locations are available at all hours.

The thing that I disliked the most is that there's some early scenes where you can choose one way or the other, but there doesn't seem to be a way to chance your choice later on.
For example, early on you may choose not to whore yourself out at the restaurant, because it doesn't fit the roleplay, but there doesn't seem to be a way to choose to start doing it once you're corrupted.

On the other hand, there's no control over the progress of other scenes - they're supposedly consensual scenes, but they just happen once you grind enough, without giving the player any choice on whether they want to have sex with a particular character.

It's definitely better than last year, but without having control over the character and her progress, it still doesn't work for me.

My old review from October 2023

Random porn (your character changes from one scene to the next), no real gameplay besides clicking the same few options and watching the same scenes, and an absolute lack of plot, story, or character development: your character can get raped and the next line of text will be "you finish your jogging".

The dev warns about this being something made on a whim and not caring much about it, so at least we know what to expect, but being honest about the game being terrible doesn't affect its rating.

4.5 stars for dick beating material. 2.5 stars for quality of the gameplay. It's a very simple gameplay loop - Accept work and keep returning until it turns into more intense porn. Not exactly my cup of tea, but like I said it's fine to get off to

Not bad for baby-dev's first porn game. You've got something that basically works and could conceivably make you coom. Now, add more kinks, better UI, more sound, and better writing.
Atm, it's a bare bones gif dump.

After seeing couple trashy html games I almost lost interest in this engine.
However, this one turned out to be quite decent.
At this point 1.31 the game contains quite much, and offers quite a bit playability. As it's real porn there's no comment regarding the art but the selection of the porn is quite decent.
The story telling is fine.
It's not buggy(I've only met a few minor one).
The corruption arc could be a bit longer, for instance, make her stay in the 3 and 4 phase a tiny while longer.
This is in the top 10% of html games. It's not marvelous but pretty solid.
I recommend you give it a shot.

Excellent scenes with a lot of content for an early release. Gameplay is simple with minimal grind but thats to the games benefit. I especially like the diner plotline. I look forward to seeing this game continue development.

A very good start! Lots of sexy gifs of decent quality and no tedious and long grind. The action of the game starts very quickly, so we don't have to worry about wasting 30 minutes of our lives just to see one unsatisfactory picture or gif. Currently, money in the game is very easy to earn and very quickly there is nothing to spend it on, but it can be seen that in future updates this may change. I recommend downloading and playing for yourself, you won't regret it ^^ <3

Really good start with a decent amount of content for a first version. Although, really lack luster from an exploration perspective. There's almost no reason for money right now. The only thing that you can buy, that matters, is the Computer and paying rent actually keeps you from getting scenes, so you just keep collecting more and more money with nothing spend it on, which makes most of what you do feel irrelevant because your working to get money ... to do nothing with it. A hint that watching porn would lead to another job would be nice as well. The game does not feel like there is a grind, which is nice, but that could also be because there just isn't that many options to do right now.
All in All though, a really promising start, and I can't wait for there to be a couple more updates to flesh out the world and story.
Update for v1.8.0
Feels very similar to the older version I played. Game still feels a little empty and I wish that some of the stories might intertwine because everything feels very much like different games all rolled into one. You also often times do not know if the event chain is over or not which makes the storylines feel repetitive. Still a good game, just needs more going on

Reviewing for Version 1.0.

The game is as described, a nice sexy smut game. Good coding, a simplified life sim/smut sim. It has a good story with branching choices. Yes, I would love to see more of this and see where this goes!

For a game that was just released, Urban Gal offers decent content. With the lack of female protagonist HTML-based games, this game came in clutch. Again, despite being the first release, it has a decent corruption development and is content-fun.

Great start! Game is not to grindy and has very well done scenes and writing.
Would love to see this get fleshed out more with more uses for the computer and more locations and characters to dominate her. Keep it up!
