A feels good yaoi that I can get behind even if its short.

    Pros:
    • Great artwork
    • Relatively light-hearted despite some dark themes
    • Outside of one choice, every option makes sense for Hong’er to do.
    • Characters are well written. Hong’er is great despite being an omega. That feels like a side note more than anything because he acts independent despite his secondary gender. The only time his omega status gets in the way is when he goes into heat early on and even then, he has way more restraint than any other omega who immediately goes and cries for the dick of an alpha.
    • The foreshadowing is really good. I also love how during intermission that notes that couldn’t make it into the game are told to the player before the next scene so you’re not wondering out loud how this happened.
    • The music is great. IDK if the song is unique to this game though.
    • I love Molly a lot. She’s a great mom.
    • Bowen is actually really funny despite being an alpha. You always expect alphas to be rude and dominant and try to claim an omega as property. Bowen is shown in the flashbacks to always be laid-back and patient so knowing that, it’s easy to see how genuine he is to Hong’er after being thrown across the room like the masochist he is.
    • The plot twist of Hong’er’s memories were foreshadowed and the payoff is so good if you managed to get the last h scene.
    Cons:
    • The game is rather short. Because it’s so straight to the point that it will only take 2 hours to get everything and see all the content.
    • There are only three yaoi scenes and one of them is a rape scene that is optional to see (and will happen by picking one of the stupidest options known to man). Getting to the end will get you the second one while the first one will always happen.
    • Maybe I’m so used to more cynical options that the one choice near the end I felt was correct and ended up being wrong was the rumor mill prompt. In any other scenario, I do not believe that the average person cares about how servants are treated by the rich. They would care more about the political scandals for talking points. This game is way more optimistic in that people fundamentally care about the lower class and while it’s a nice thing, I do believe that it was unrealistic even if the game was pointing to servant abuse as a major plot point.
    • No voice acting. It’s understandable but I would have preferred it.
    • The A/B/O universe is underutilized despite it being in the summary of the game. What it helps establish is that on top of the usual discrimination against class and gender, the second gender will also affect your standing. The problem is Hong’er is a sought after omega despite the description that omegas are at the bottom of the barrel. Hong’er believes he’s undesirable but given his job, it clearly isn’t the case and the omega status is how the main antagonist underestimates him. I love omegas being able to defend themselves and not needing an alpha to help them, but it leads to so many questionable moments on the villain side.
    • Pertaining to the above, alphas are never actually abusing their authority despite them being able to. Makes them having the title kind of worthless if they don’t even do that.
    • We barely get anything on Bowen’s apprentice. He’s an important character who obviously has it out for Hong’er but the problem is he’s there to move the plot along and to push the player to pick the correct option of later saving Bowen. I would have liked more information on him, how he met Bowen, what was his life like, but he’s not the main character and he yeets out of the town at the end of the game. We got more backstory on Molly and she’s just as important as the main couple.
