For a long time the name was “Off the Record”. Until I learned about the other well known adult game by the same name.
I wanted something that reflected journalism’s roots, so I started doing research. The first newspaper (of sorts) originated in Rome around 50BC or so.
They spoke Latin back then. So I started researching Latin words. At first I just wanted a catchy acronym. Then I learned the word Veritas, which means truth.
There happen to be quite a few games with Veritas in the title. So I wanted a unique, little used word to pair it with.
I chose the feminine form of “exposed,” in other words, “Exposita”.
As far as I can tell it’s technically an improper use. But I like that it means “Truth Exposed”, that the word is in a feminine form to pair with our female protagonist, and that it’s in Latin, paying homage to the beginnings of journalism.
It felt thematically right.
What are my plans for the game? Actually, I have that typed up in a post that will go live in a few days.
But I’ll give you the title to the next episode. The Beach House.
