Ren'Py - Abandoned - Vis [v2.0] [Mad King Games]

As far as VN’s go, this one is a little but more well made than most with some significant flaws.

There are all the familiar tropes of course, especially the whole royal medieval incest plot and dark magic, but it’s mostly told in a capable way with decently written characters and impressive visuals that make up for the unoriginality of the plot.

What holds this game back is that the choices are somewhat limited and the morality/karma system doesn’t seem to do much as of yet. In fact a lot of the little options and paths seem like vestiges of an older build of the game that aren’t relevant to what it is now. Likewise, the pacing of the story is glacial. There’s obviously a much larger story at work, but for a large portion the plot just sort of spins on its wheels while characters talk in circles until suddenly we’re pushed into the end of the first act abruptly.

This is also a problem with the game’s lewd scenes. It’s pretty sparse, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the way this story is structured the incest should be more significant than it is. The narrative essentially wants you to believe that the protagonist has made the ultimate taboo choice and forsaken morality by giving into his lust for his family, but the reality is that the majority of the lewd scenes consist on light petting whilst the characters act as if they’ve spent all night having steamy vigorous sex. It’s honestly quite bizarre because the Dev could have easily told a story that had none of this material and the narrative probably would have worked better, instead we get the barest minimum that ultimately hurts the story more than helps.

Ultimately I think this game has potential, but it’s in the midst of an identity crisis that it needs to get through.

Some devs get carried away and forget they are making a porn game and instead think they are writing a script for an HBO show. The game has basically zero scenes and lots of uninteresting filler. A really confusing story that makes little sense and adds little excitement. The brother and the sister for example have been talking about fucking each other's brains out since 0.1 yet here we are 2 years later and there is not a single scene! Entire updates come and go without single scenes. So why the deception of the tags? They should all be removed and the VN be tagged as non-erotic. Huge disappointment of a game.

Finally some originality in the sea of adult visual novels! This game will start slow, like really REALLY slow; if you're trying to find a "quick fap" visual novel then sorry, this game is not for you: the +18 scenes are rare, the author obviously has put more emphasis on the story/plot. There is some sort of Good/Bad karma mechanic but in my opinion it's poorly implemented, it feels like the choices you make don't have an impact on the story, even with this i decided to give 5 stars because of the original concept of the game.

I've been playing adult games since the days of AIF...sort of like King's Quest with sex (I know that reference is probably too old for many of you). Most of the time the games are dull...you just play for the sex scenes...with a few exceptions.

There are still games like that and they can be fun if they have an interesting premise and fun gameplay. I enjoy those games as well...but the ones that really grip me, the ones that tell great stories..are the ones I can't wait for a new release because I want to see where the story goes. Vis is one of those games.

The character and world-building in Vis are excellent. There are very few sex scenes (though some nudity scattered about). It's a slow erotic burn with the characters that MC gets to know. Most importantly, there are stakes involved. Murder, death, betrayal, love, honor, etc. More than you'd expect from an adult-themed game (thankfully, there are more great stories these days..but 90% of these games still can't tell a good story).

For me, it was like reading an engrossing novel. I couldn't stop playing after I downloaded it...so yeah, over 3 days I finished 1.1.

Vis takes it's time developing the story and the characters. The MC starts his journey as a sheltered and spoiled prince who gets drunk and bangs hookers...never reaching his potential. The journey he goes on from spoiled prince to becoming a man worthy to be a king is an interesting and wild ride.

The other characters around him are also well-developed. Morgana, his over-protective mother. Morrigan, a bad-ass sister with magical powers that doesn't give a damn what anyone thinks. Liliana, the innocent sister who feels like a 3rd-wheel and longs to make her own choices. The King, the MC's father...a cruel and heartless man. Temur, a wise mercenary whom you never know what side he's on...but there are clues. Lillith...a demon who has aspirations to reshape the world in her image. Gunther...a King set marry Liliana in a marriage arranged by her father, the King. He's a total scumbag.

But don't think the story and characters are all this game has to offer. The visuals are stunning. The female characters have variety in their looks. They're all unique in terms of look and body...no BTS here. There are a few animations and they're excellent.

Overall, if you like games with a compelling story and character development, this is for you. If you're just looking for the MC to bang away at every female character...this is not for you...but you'd be missing out.

This game is of such high quality I'm compelled to ask how in the world he has only 85 Patrons in the sea of crappy games with many more Patrons.

Here is my honest review of this game. I'm giving it 5 stars. Heres why..

Good Points:

- The storyline is probably one of the best i've ever witnessed since i started playing these games. The MC is very likeable and the writing captivates you and really makes you care about the characters.

- Theres a decent amount of Girls and they're all unique and very good looking. Theres actual good story development with them too so don't expect them to jump on you within a few clicks.

- Decisions actually matter. They're not just pointless decisions, you can actually change the course of the game with your choices.

Bad Points:

- This isn't necessarily a bad point, but the game can be a slow burn at times and there isn't a whole lot of lewd scenes.

Overall, I'm glad i came across this game and hope the dev continues with this project. Looking forward to see the story develop more.

Well, it's starting slow .... very slow, made me stop playing this some time ago.
After I catched up, I must say .... impressive.

This is not a "I'm bored of porn, let me fap to some animated story/pictures" game, it's telling a story. It takes some time to get there, but it's worth it.
Decisions seem to matter.

Rendering Quality is good, sex scenes are ok.

So if you are willing to read *a lot* of text, with a slowly, but interesting and developing story, you should try this.

What to say? First. its novel. Don't look for sex scene here, it all about plot. And it mostly good.
But i need to say something. Sometimes i had a feeling as i read same thing over and over. Same idea, same message. Thats the reason the story sometimes just stay in one place.
For now i am not sure if dev have a clear vision for his game. If it will change i will join to his patrons. But for now i seeing potential but not sure if it woild be realised.

I'm really impressed by this game.
Models look great, fantastic rendering and I like especially the combination of a visual novel that kind of sets the setting (and thats already a game by itself) and then the sandbox like kingdom building.
LOTS of potential here and I really look forward to future updates.

Finally tried 1.0 version after watching over this game for a long time. And it was one huge disappointment.

Pro:
- Really well done images. Renders, yes, but still looking good.
- Main heroes don't look too old for medieval time. Sure, they are older then should because of ahem... laws , but it's still believable.
- Witch. Yes, younger clone of Morrigan from Dragon Age (including personality & name, lol). But even being complete cliche she is still a cool witch that properly act enough crazy&dominant to make herself alluring without overdoing it.

Con:
- Setting. Main hero stated to be a prince, but there is nothing related to his status (or even his father status) in whole game.
Dear developer. Your game is about incest (I can be honest on that site ) in medieval setting. So your target auditory is obvious and here lie a huge problem for you. Incest+medieval time = Ultimate Incestuous Game, aka Crusader's Kings 2. So your target auditory will at least know a little fact that there is no king without vassals.
And there is no mention on them in whole game. Hell, in last chapter MC&family planning a coup on royal wedding... And there is NO vassals for BOTH kings around. Face-palm for that.
- Story. At first glance it look like stupid&fun all-around-sex porn game (messing with a slutty twins almost at beginning), but then it abruptly ended with blood and death. I said "okay, it's a deep story game about corruption of main heroes" and continue to playing... Only to find that it is a stupid story and worse - without porn. Main hero is constantly saved by plot armor and nobody in whole kingdom (aside from his family) is care about where he is and what he's doing. Queen promising to pay notable sums while she have no money and no way to get it (it's medieval setting, right?). People in capital that don't know about princess-witch and easily disrespecting her.
To make it even worse - constant change of viewpoint. And in most cases such side stories look like a stupid fillers.
And to make it completely hideous - amount of text & dialogues in each update is abysmal. Huge leaps are common. Zero build-up of relationships - almost all girls are falling for MC on a first sign (how it could be bad? look for a next section!).
- Extremely slow development and almost zero sexual content. Let's simply say that for 1.5 years all we have is a two handjobs from main heroines, 1 coerced blowjob scene on unconscious MC and 1 sex scene with side character. A few teasing scenes + two sex scenes without MC presence (one lesbian and I count it + following scene of Lilith messing with drugged elf as a single big scene).

Conclusion.
Do not waste your time. It never will be finished and taking in account development speed there is a very low chance it will ever have enough content to make a playthrough worth it.
Especially avoid 1.0 as it a one huge blueballing. Enough erotic to make you interested without any real action going on.

Well I honestly don't know why I haven't rated this game yet, I'm not saying i'm a top reviewer neither a keyboard warrior when it comes to such things but "by oblivion" this game is good!

I've been playing it since v0.1 and haven't missed an update since, or maybe I have.. Who cares, I'm caught up to everything that is going on in the game, that's what I'm trying to say.

One of the main things i really liked about this game is that it made me feel like i'm the prince (or at least I wished I was at some point). Yes, you can tell that the MC is a crybaby at the beginning of the game but what makes it better is that you get to basically experience how he's becoming a badass of a king. But of course, there are some points in the game where he does get a bit annoying but that doesn't last long.

Story wise, it's awesome. I'm a big fan of the whole medieval approach, it's just different and it keeps things interesting since it is done properly. The writing is even better, I mean it really backs the medieval theme. You can tell that a lot of thought were put into some of the conversations. In terms of progression, I gotta be honest , it did get a bit slow and confusing about half way thru, but the dev did a good job at picking up the pace just enough to keep it engaging. (Dev don't you dare rush an ending)

Characters (Not including Morrigan), They're all great, starting with queen (the mother) all the way to the "Petite" & "Beautiful" Anette! The designing is fantastic, and their back stories are all well written. also none of them feel out of place in the story, like they all play a well explained role. But I do feel that some of them need to be focused on more in upcoming updates.

I really enjoyed playing this, well-done mister!
Great storyline, amazing CG, wished for little more animation.

I admit I got a little annoyed by the Morganna character, but in the end, it all came to place

This game has so much potential. It's story is absolutely amazing, and keeps me glued to my screen(The sex scenes help a lot too). Well done my dude, your development of the game is a tad slow but it seems to be worth it until thusfar!

The game is trying to be De-Luka, but fails. Renders are good, plot is generic and what is worse - it wastes a lot of time and renders onto the irrelative stuff for the main story. You can have a whole chapter without any of the major characters whatsoever.

Also, an ultimate blueballs simulator. Intentionally, not because it is slow motion like De Luka - here you have sexual scenes, but all of them never go further than handjob. In the 1.0 version of the game.

I feel like rating it is the very little i could do to support such an awesome game.

I like that we don't have to rely on sex to make this great game enjoyable since the stiry is so great that we don't really miss the sex in it - lewdness + an actual (good) plot are the recipe to make a such a great game like this one.

I hope the dev is getting the support he needs to keep up with such an awesome game. I love it.

I also really apreciante the dialogue and how well written this game is - i acually cried right of the bat when and i think that's great writing right there - when we're able to care and feel for all the characters - i hope you will continue focusing on the story above everything else (without forgeting the sexy stuff, of course) because that is what makes this great a cut above most of the games.

I really feel like this story could really work as a screenplay for a show or comic, so go after it!

Underrated. And criminally under-supported on Patreon. This is the best fantasy adult VN I've ever played. A lot of thought went into the ui, the renders, the dialogue. The quality has only gone up every release. Keep up the GREAT work Dev!

I held off playing this due to some of the reviews here and boy... was I wrong to do so.

Compared to Tolstoy's War & Peace, the story and characters might not measure up, but if you compare Vis to the unambitious and bland porn story lines that make up most games here, Vis stands head and shoulders above all of them. Characters have agency and depth, the story unfolds slowly and sex scenes are part rather than reason for developing it.

Not to mention that the art is outstanding.

Play this for the story. We need games that have more ambition than being a filler in between sex scenes.

Vis is one of the best games of this whole website. The story of Vis is grand & epic in scale! I am absolutely loving the way the game is progressing. For me personally story & dialogues are the most important as these make the game worthwhile. I think if somebody feels horny & wants to jack off quickly then they can play almost any game present in f95zone as most of the games here only have adult content with little story. Only very few masterpieces have solid story in f95zone (were the adult part is properly weaved in the overall story). Vis is one of those rare masterpiece. I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I can say from the high quality graphics that making this game must take lot of time & effort. My heartfelt gratitude to the creator for creating this awesome game.

PROS :

1) Highly philosophical dialogue and of course intelligently used
2) Very nice models
3) Very nice music and fitting
4) The medieval settings adds a extra top notch to the story and overall game

6) Story is well planned and intriguing at every corner of it keeping you at the edge of the sit
7) Brilliant scenes,backgrounds and quality of images

9) Unique story with highly philosophical narrative and dialogues making it an unique game

CONS:

Nothing much,except the story could have been more complex,but it's pretty well written the way it is compared to other games.




Conclusion:

I strongly reccomend this art of a game.

1. Vis has beautiful animations and renders
2. Every character in the VN is unique and different from one another.
3. The story is quite well-written and keeps you smithen as you move along. The story hits home quite a few times, also seems funny at times in some scenes.
4. The updates are delivered in the given timeframe and the devs and its crew never seem to disappoint with any updates. They just keep getting better and better with upcoming updates.
5. Few grammatical errors are still persistent in the game, only a handful of them.
10/10 would recommend
