Visual Novel: do you care about the scenario?

I’m writing my first VN (not my first writing experience, though). I got nuanced characters, fine plot twists, great logic… I’m working hard to make a good story.

But sometimes, while doing researches, I see some really high rated games scenes and… how to say…there’s almost no logical or interesting story?

Things happen for absolutely nothing, sex scenes randomly pop with nothing specific to the NPC, dialogs couldn't’ be more meaningless… And some games are like this all along...

Is there any value added with a good writing or not?
Are those scenarios bad because players want that or because it’s what’s available?

Some players care, and some players don't. I do. I cannot get excited by a character that is just a nice model without a personality for long. Why not just fap on pornhub then?

I think that a decent story is very important to make a good game. Of course, you always have some players that will complain that you have to read too much or another dumb criticism, but that's a given...

In general, I would say: make the VN the way you want it. Yes, fuckfests with nonsensical plots can sell well but...would you enjoy making it?

People are idiots.
Call of duty.
Fortnight.
Sims(i am guilty of this one)
World of warcraft.
Fifa.
Are simple boring games that people fork over massive amount of cash for.

So dont be discourage.
You wont need to lower yourself to trash tier.
If anything i would like more good games and less trash.

VN's are mostly for babies who need practice before even trying to make their first real game so, most of the time doesn't matter what's in them. Unless it's not a baby that's making one.

The rundown of importance for a good VN in my opinion:
1. Skillful writing.
2. Graphics.
3. Sound.

If they're rated by F95 rating system you can just disregard that garbage, it's mostly worthless.
You should look at their profits and how long they been around, not 5*ratings made by always-horny 12y olds.
