Vroid Studio vs Koikatsu – which do you prefer? Do you know of any good games that use Vroid Studio models?

I specifically want to use Vroid Studio for my new game, but I can't really find any titles that use Vroid Studio.

I've never heard of this software until now, it looks pretty impressive. I'd love to know how this stacks up compared to koikatsu.

I used Vroid for a while last year, but I’m not sure how it is now. What I can say is that for porn games, it’s not great for a few reasons:

• The community of koikatsu is much larger. You can download a lot of cards and mods.
• It doesn’t have genitalia.
• The character editing is limited compared to Koikatsu, especially for breasts.
• Koikatsu has way more animation and character customization features.

The strong point of Vroid is that is free for commercial purposes. The default male model doesn't suck as Koikatsu ones, you have clothing layers, and the hair editor is really good. But there’s a learning curve to use these features. It’s not as easy as it looks.

, plus they allow you to make NSFW models (you just have to find and download better textures), also two things in these forums also can use .vrm models Anime Assistant and Desktop Kanojo, so you have options for testing things out. As for things that use Vroid character images in games, I haven't found anything there.

Koikatsu does have a more extensive character creator and if you get the Better Repack versions, it comes with a studio mode to make scenes and images with. Again I don't know of any games that use images made from this, besides itself.

Since Vroid Studio is free, it doesn't hurt to try it out and its a smaller file size and less resource intensive compared to Koikatsu.

Koikatsu has a wealth of extensions and add-ons that make it an obvious choice. It is easy to achieve any look you want. I managed to turn Koikatsu models into 2D flat-color renders rather easily due to the help of some plugins and some custom work.

One advantage of Vroid may be the simple fact that it's less popular. It requires a lot of modification to make Koikatsu "not look like Koikatsu", whereas you may be able to get away with using Vroid straight out of the box.

I'm using Vroid now. It will be a bit of a learning curve since not many people use it but it does seem pretty simple and straight forward so far. Character creation is really streamlined.

Koikatsu if you are doing VN. However I do think Vroid is better if you want to do 3D open world game etc and avoid legal issues. And if you do plan on making 3D nsfw game with Vroid, you would still need to do some work for animations, textures etc but its a good option for people who wanna do NSFW 3D anime style game but want to skip the whole character modelling process.
