But we are getting animations though. We will see how it turns out
Over the years I have grown to despise animations and I hate when devs obsess over them. Why? 1) They take valuable time away from development that could be used for faster updates with more substance 2) The end result often looks like shit anyway 3) They are in most cases badly optimized if you don't have supercomputer it's a choppy mess or badly loops 4) Developers sometimes get the itch to go back and re-do old scenes with animations before finishing game which means game stalls for 6 months minimum.

But hey, if it doesn't stall development and looks/plays well I don't mind it, I just have bad experience with animations in this industry in 99% of cases.

Even if they outsource it like they said on Patreon, it’s still going to drag down the main development. You’d have to constantly check in, give feedback, and sink time into it just to make sure it doesn’t end up looking terrible. The sheer amount of work it takes to make a hand-drawn 3 second animation loop look smooth is staggering. With the same resources, they could’ve delivered several unique CGs instead, which I’d much rather have than a looping 3-second gif that’ll be forgotten by the next update.

I have to imagine it would be live2d animations. Karman's art doesn't lend itself to traditional animation. Though even live2d art has a big overhead to create from the artist's side, since you have to break the piece down into a bunch of small parts that can be puppeted. It is far from a simple or quick process.

Yep especially for hand drawn 2D games! For this game imo the dialogue and the cg itself already is enough I maybe asking too much but some scenes do need another cg or two.

Hopefully the animations is great though cause the last animator waste their time so less time for quality check.

Yeah wouldn't care one cent for damned animations, it's a damned 2D game guys come on, animations work greatly on 3D, anything 2D, animations dont do it well, it's just static movement not smooth, to have a smooth animation it will be too much work to have it worthwhile, unneeded wasted effort on something that will be skipped or aint enjoyed enough. If you want, maybe add animations after the game ends as polishing but dont waste time animating the game, never once were people cheering for animations in 2D games, 3D probably but 2D ? Nah. Continue the game further is better.

Yeah, I was kinda shocked when they decided to start doing animations in their novel. Voice acting would be perfect, there's no urgency to have animations in a 2d novel

I agree. What I think would make sense and would be better, rather than animations, would be to have more variations of the same scene. Like one with Ammies face being more aroused, different hands position, and similar. Animations are way too time and money consuming for this project at this stage.

You guys have sold me that full animation is probably more trouble than it's worth, and that if there's outsourcing it should probably go toward sound instead.

I still firmly believe that the sex scenes need to be more dynamic in some way, and obviously the devs agree with me to some extent. The single still image with the fast *schlick schlick schlick* is jarring to me. Even if there were just a thrust-in and thrust-out pic timed with the sounds, that would go a long way toward lining up with what I see in other hand-drawn games, like My Pig Princess. On the other hand, Karryn's Prison manages with still frames and voice acting, so that's another valid path.

I know a lot of people here just want more more more, and I can relate because I *used* to be like that -- before we started getting payoff scenes and I realized they weren't getting me off. I love this game, but I don't want to blind myself to its flaws.

More 2d cg, better sfx and voice acting be far more sexier than any animation. I think voice acting and better sex sfx should be done first then animation as the last priority especially for this game. But what's doen is done and we have to live with it. Let's hope the animations are great.
