No, that's the way it is. The game doesn't even do a karma check there. It just says that you failed the check in the dialog. I have a previous post with the code for that scene, but I'm too lazy to look it up now.

Honestly, the dev adds stuff to 'Circle back to later' after the game has finished one route to endgame... but with the way the dev updates his game that'll be in 100 years. Pretty sure the dev is milking this game (honestly if I had such loyal pay pigs I would too).
Karma afaik has maybe a few moments where it actually matters? Maybe?
Currently his "choices" are just locking you into seeing one scene instead of another with a slight variation - and both lead to the same outcome no differences whatsoever past the point the scene ends.
