Any RPGmaker game has to be something really special and polished in order to hold my attention. Unfortunately W&B is not.
The art work is fantastic, so lets get that out of the way right away. I'm giving it two stars on that alone.
But unfortunately that's about the best that I can say about it. With no plot to speak of, tropey uninspired characters, from 'way too young looking mom,' to 'tsundre villager girl' to 'gruff futa adventurer' to 'tavern maid girl next door with a young brother' it's just by the numbers.
Then as mentioned it does use RPGMaker, and unfortunately uses it in a very uninspired way... pretty much what you'd expect from almost any RPGmaker game. There is attention to detail on the maps, which is nice, and probably kept this from falling down to a 1 star rating. But that's not saying much.
Further more, and this is pretty unacceptable in my opinion, even though the intro mentions the mouse plugin, it's not accessable and you're forced to use the old arrow keys combo that's standard for RPGM. More frustrating than that however is combat is currently broken (v0.3301) because if you select something you can't go backwards. So I chose special in combat, realized there were no special options, and since I had none, I was stuck. I couldn't even finish the round of combat. Literally the only thing I could do is F5, close, and delete the game.
I think on the strength of the artwork this could bump up to a 3 star game once it gets a little more time under it's belt, assuming the creator works out some of the issues.
But I probably will be giving future versions a pass.... it's just.... a very meh RPGM game.
