Recent reviews said mostly what I wanted to so I'll keep mine short:
Gameplay is top-tier among H-games. Story, map design, progression, bosses and overall vibes are exquisite. Only critique from me is if you don't interact with H-content you won't see it that often. Regardless, the H-content still delivers in quality and quantity. Art is pretty good and MC is cute and game can be as easy or hard as you want.
One of the few games that make me excited for what the dev does next.
All things considered, this one's pretty good. The art is nice, the writing isn't brain-dead and is actually pretty decent. if you're looking for an action-combat title it can be as easy or unforgivingly brutal as you'd want. It's also pretty hot which is, let's be honest, why we're all here.
Two complaints that keep it at 4 stars for me.
1. unsinkable tutorial cut-scenes baked into boss fights. not much of an issue if you're playing on a trivial difficulty but really, really annoying when you're going for a challenge run and you have to click through them every one of your dozens of deaths.
2. The way mechanics just . . . don't function at higher difficulties. This is actually by design, but I think it's just really poorly done. Dev, if you don't want healing on max difficulty, remove or replace the items/passives/abilities that do those things on higher difficulty, it's a stupid player trap that you'll let folks buy and equip stuff that just doesn't work and leads to confusion over trusting the game difficulty description or trusting the item. Just disable it for consistency.
It follows a tried and true formula of corruption games, and the pacing is quite decent, with a lot of player choice and decision-making during it. It has an interesting action-combat system that stretches everything Wolf RPG can do and more, for those who are interested in it. Sometimes, it can feel that the H part of the game is a bit at odds with the combat loop, which is by far the majority of the content. I'd rather play a more sexy game than a middling action game, no matter how much better it is in its traditional gameness than the competition.
Also, the art is not really the best in evoking sensuality. It's just porn for the sake of it, mostly.
PEAK
been following this studio for a long time and I've been waiting for them to do something good. And FINALLY, I've been waiting for this for so long, because looking at the rest of the games in this studio, they tried and tried and finally They fix bugs and make updates. I already had to try this game and this one uses new features in such games, don't just run, wait for the "attack" and run home to the bed to get rid of it. Lots of animations, lots of scenes, multiple endings I'm happy for this developer, I even had to buy the game and support it.
This game is so good I wish it weren't a porn game.
I don't even know how it happened, but before even the intro was finished I found myself sinking into the story, delighting in the combat mechanics, and bopping my head to the music (speaking of, the overworld music is one of the most unexpected bangers I've ever heard). And the plot just keeps getting better as you go?! What the hell is happening???
It's not hard to see the erotic/exploitation arc from a mile away, but in contrast to the rock solid story, the porn actually comes across kinda boring in comparison. Yeah yeah, guy touches girl in the sauna, yawn. Girl bends over the well, suuuure. Massage parlor, huh, what could possibly happen? This may be.. no, no it definitely is the only game I've played where I ended up skipping/avoiding the porn content to see what happens next.
Ugh, and the combat! Don't think I'd ever get tired of those sweet sweet counter & sword swishy combos. Oh, but sure, add in some ak47s in there just to show off.
Anyway, Lacia kicks ass. Play it, and fall in actual love with the plucky underdog heroine ninja as you will. And sure, guide her if you must into totally out-of-character naked oopsies. Myself, I'll be too busy making the swords go swish swish!
For those who have played Blazing Aries by the same dev (Kurotozakka) a lot of what is in Warrior Maiden in terms of gameplay is very familiar in a good way. Fortunately there is also no reused h-content (at least not that I recognised/spotted) and in part that is because this game features an entirely new roster of characters and they look quite different from the ones in Blazing Aries. This in itself really goes to show the passion of the dev for going out of their way to make a new unique adult game rather than just rehash and reuse what they already did on Blazing Aries. An issue that we have seen other adult game devs do in the past on
Warrior Maiden features a new protagonist Lecia and a completely unrelated story to Blazing Aries, though the events seem to take place in the same universe which is a neat touch and spoiler...
Gameplay wise the combat system will be familiar for those who played Aries, but this time around with a lot of small improvements, new skills and the addition of ranged weapons. The combat feels a lot more fluid and in general is vastly improved upon vs Blazing Aries
In terms of the story, it is an interesting story and it did actually start to pull on my heartstrings towards the end which I was not expecting from an adult game. Usually the stories are very cheesy but this is a proper serious story
One thing that sets Lecia aside from other Japanese RPG games is the fact that she doesn't start off as a slutty woman who is just down to have sex with the first NPC she meets. She is genuinely against being mistreated and her realistic reactions to her treatment makes her pathway a lot more genuine. Sure there are elements of lightheartedness in there and at the end of the day this is still a h-game but it is done in a much better way than most other h-games
One of the biggest changes between Blazing Aries and Warrior Maiden Lecia is that this game is a lot less linear. You have the main story quests which bring you along in a linear fashion but the world is a lot more open this time for exploring the town and you get side quests this time around that you can either skip or do and that also have some player agency to them for how you want them to play out (lewd or not lewd). There are also side jobs and stuff to do as well and a variety of other events to discover. This was a big lack in Blazing Aries so it is nice to see the content become a lot more well rounded in Warrior Maiden Lecia
Also new this time around is actual pregnancy content, don't worry the birth is not shown (well unless that is your fetish then sorry the birth is not shown). Where Aries could get pregnant but it only was used for one ending. Here there are actually pregnancy related events and even specific endings that can be triggered early by getting pregnant too often. You also can only unlock prostitution if you get pregnant and go into debt so that kind of player interactivity is a neat touch and adds to the quality and immersion of the game
In terms of game length, it took me 11 hours to clear the game so it is quite a long game by adult game standards, one of the other big improvements is I complained in my review of Aries that the dungeons just dragged on too long and you could end up in long stretches where there was no more h-content
Both of those issues are resolved in Lecia. The dungeons are generally shorter this time around and you no longer need objects from other parts of the dungeons to continue to so you can speed run most dungeons. They also added a story mode difficulty that basically makes combat and boss fights and everything much shorter for those who just want to see the content and not partake in the combat
Personally I played on the standard difficulty (gamer I think it was called?) as I did enjoy the combat enough to partake
Lecia has a massive amount of h-content though so that also helps break up the dungeons and story. In total this game has about 50 unique h-scenes, 6 unique endings and 12 enemies with combat rape sequences as well
So throughout the 11 hours I never felt like I had not gone long without seeing h-content. Unless of course you are going for virgin run then there will be very little content for you. I honestly would not recommend a virgin run on this game as it is really designed around playing for the h-content
The loot this time around is also a lot better. You can find some pretty epic gear by exploring the towns and dungeons and in the game's final there is even a hidden item or something that you can spend some time trying to get as well. Personally I missed it but I am quite curious what it is
In conclusion, a well rounded 10+ hour long experience filled with amazing adult content, fun gameplay, improved dungeons, better quests and an interesting story
It is hard to fault this game and if this is a sign of how things will go for this dev. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us on their next game!
In fact I loved both games so much I ended up buying them on Steam!
Extremely solid 5 star game, def one of my favorites and i didnt even finish it yet.
- good, well writen story with interesting world setting
- very good combat mechanics, actually hard and requiring skill on harder difficulties, many options to do combat differently, very parry-oriented (sekiro-like)
- while graphics are what it looks like on screenshots, it has some charm to it, H scenes look good enough, heroine is cute and sexy
- very good quest and quota system, everything is well explained and engaging, with options to fast travel whetever you like if you want to, many rpg games suffer from long traveling time, or not obvious enough quests and how to do them, here everything is rather clear and simple
- will write more later probably, for now im pleased that i found this game
EDIT:
After finishing on second hardest difficulty i have few more things to say:
- there is no special virgin ending, that sucks, i seen most H scenes but always reloaded save and beat is as virgin so i would expect any reward from it, sadly there is none
- game is very hard, especially i struggled with gun gang boss, took me solid 6 hours to beat that motherf***, endgame suprisingly wasnt that hard for me but to be fair i had everything unlocked and was overfarmed
- combat is excellent, story is also really good for an H game, duh it even beats AAA games standards for most part, no joke
- H scenes are very hot, corruption is also pretty good, sadly game suffers from same issue as any rpgmaker/wolfrpg game which is that its based mostly on reading with few screenshoots rather than anything else, so after you see a scene and read it, there is not much more to do, even if scene was really good. So at the end of days there is not much replayability, enough variety for how long game is though.
- overall i recommend not playing as virgin as i did, waste of time, in terms of difficulty i really liked mine, was good enough challenge altough some bosses are very bullshit. Always be sure to have food buffs and good inherits + overfarm before boss fights
- definitely one of better H games i ever played, solid 20+hours of gameplay
Amazing game but any difficulty above "Light" makes some of the bosses take next to no dmg from your weapons (especially the final few chapters). Even though I dislike fighting games in general this one really hit hard once i got the hang of the combos. Strong 9/10
The combat feels like a Kingdom Hearts card game. That said, it's one of the better ones in the genre. Every hour or two, the game introduces a new mechanic, which is kinda neat—it feels like a quality experience.
The only thing I don’t like about the game is the repetitive CGs and the lack of a compelling story. Don’t get me wrong—it's still one of the better games in the "go do stuff in a village and try not to get corrupted" type of genre. You know what I mean—like Ruin Seeker, Liz, Celesphonia, etc.
But the main character and the story that’s supposed to keep you going feel kinda like plain white bread. Also, there are no meaningful branches or consequences based on your actions; the game is pretty linear.
I probably spent more attempts to beat Weiss on difficulty 4 at even level than I've spent beating the entire elden ring boss crew. 10/5 would hit 350 combo again, definitely had a good night sleep after that.
Not fond of the "defend the base" missions though.
+ Good ol' corruption with H-stats and preg
+ Fun gameplay
+ Pixel style looks good
+ Materia style upgrading
+ Battle fuck and grapples
+ Lots of start up options
+ Skippable scenes
+ Good UI/UX
+ Fast travel
+ lots of weapons
- 2D art is very mediocre
- Scenes are very repetitive
- Mobile game levels of difficulty spikes, lower difficulties are too easy and penalise achievements, higher is super spongey
- Controls are good on a controller but not so good on M&K/B
- Writing is atrocious, just word vomit, tons of talking and dialogue during sex scenes. Way too much over explaining.
- Character models are subpar
- Animations are more like slideshows
- Absurd grindiness/difficulty spikes
- Outfit system is very limited, almost does nothing
I'm in the middle of playing this game and it is awesome. I don't write reviews a lot but this game is an exception. The H-content is good and the game is actually fun. Its rare to get a combination where the game is simultaneously fun to play and the scenes are hot, but this game does it really well. It probably helps that I'm in a DMC phase and it plays similar to that in terms of combos. The combat is actually super interesting and the game is surprisingly difficult but rewarding. You will not regret playing this game.
Edit: To my pregnancy lovers, this game's pregnancy is ending only in terms of the CGs. You won't see any pregnancy scenes except in game overs. I still like the game and its really good so I won't reduce my rating of it cause it deserves the 5 stars, but personally, that brought it down a star for me.
I'm quite fond of games with battle-fuck mechanics and that one has that on top of engaging story, open-ish map, corruption system (not in depth tho), and a lot of small things overall! Shooting minigame was so good it got me in scrambles...
Rating ????
I want to say 4 stars but i'm really oscillating between 4, 5 and 3.
TLDR : Good game but if you're just here for the H, just walk away.
The good:
+ The Protagonist, the scenes variety
+ The combat, even though the controlls makes it hard with a keyboard.
+ The content and work put into it
Average
- Console style combat and combo skills (I don't like it maybe you do)
- Dungeon design with labyrinths being more and more complex and way to big toward the end (same, matter of taste?)
The bad
- Can't skip combat H-scenes
- Higher difficultiesjust makes enemies bullet sponges
The terrible
- At some point, you can't go back to the regular H-game routine and you're warned way too late
- The end battle(s) are way too long, 3 or 4 defense battles, a dozen of labyrinths, many boss fights, the motorcycle thing...
- I'd rate it 5 or even 6 stars if we could just get back to the city with more H-events with the new developments, it'd just be that good, but you can't...
So, I'm on the fence, I can't just rate it 3 because the comparison with your regular 3 stars RPGMaker/wolf RPG would make it extremely unfair for all that game offers.
Still, as a H-game, eventually, it fails and as a regular game, it's not really my cup of tea...
completed the game on inferno difficulty.
i didn't get the trophy for that though, because i started on gamer and switched to inferno just after 2 bosses. every boss fight i thought, that now just one more lose and i switch back to gamer but i still managed to beat everything. don't expect that difficulty to be any fair, no recovery in combat and boss 2 taps me, has guard breaks and attacks that can reach anywhere on arena.
combo system, chain spells, boss guard gauge, moving around, equipment progression are fine. meanwhile dashes are useless, there are upgrades to them at the end of the game but at that point i'm already used to not relying on them, dash should have granted invincibility since beggining. my hand also got tired just by constantly pressing z again and again so i don't drop my combo. guns except assault riffle are useless, they don't do much damage, very risky and only good enough to deplete boss guard gauge, though it might be intented.
good pixel art.
not a lot of outfits.
good h scenes. consistent corruption curve except few moments like being okay with being fingered by masseur almost at the beginning of the game. no mid stage for h side events, like it goes from something light or mild straight to sex without blowjobs or anything. dancing and brothel are unlocked only after pregnancy which is dumb.
story is okay.
minus 1 star for all i had to go through on inferno difficulty.
Personally I really liked this game. Fun mix of actual gameplay and erotic content, without much grind. Does take some time for the latter to kick in, though, so not something you can just jump into and get off on in 30 minutes; but there is a lot of content once you get into it. Surprisingly enjoyable and depth to the combat.
The battle mechanics are sick and I found myself chaining ariel combos together and that part is a blast. But literally everything else about this game (the story and the H) is terribly half assed and has so much unrealized potential. The story takes a jarring shift at the third chapter and starts taking itself too seriously, and if you are like me, you play H games for the H first and everything else second. The corruption is so disjointed, there's no change in her demeanor whatsoever from fully corrupted and completely pure. Not even the fucking cg for the sexual experience changes. Just the dialogue for some scenes. But not all. One minute she'll be groped by random guys in the slums and scream and be super offended, next minute she'll be getting dp'ed by them and squealing begging for more cum in her holes. Same with the public bathhouse scenes. It's like you're playing two totally different characters if you are playing this game to see the lewd content, and that for me, is unacceptable.
The battle system is pretty good (combos at a times do not connect correctly but i still enjoy it), the story average but it has his moments and the sex content is good. I enjoyed the experience and it was fun overall, so for me is a must play if you enjoy the RPG experience.
This game would be 5 stars if not for the lack of H scenes. For how long the game is {8-10h} it lacks enough action. The H-quests dissapear after chapter 2 and a lot of jobs are story-blocked. Overall a missed oppurtunity for a great character.
