VN - Ren'Py - Westview Academy [v0.5.1] [Tako Yuh]

This is a good start to a new game. It is really nice to look at, but the story is extremely inconsistent and jumps around a lot. Overall I will keep an eye on future update, but visuals don't matter to me as much as a coherent story.

Positives -
- Really nice renders
- Nice selection of LIs with realistic models
- The animations so far have been really smooth
- The tone of the game is nice with some funny moments

Negatives -
- The story jumps around a lot and isn't really coherent at times.
- Most of the LI interactions aren't really believable even in an AV world.
- Splitting all content between Sports and Music means each update will be smaller unless you are the type to do multiple playthroughs.

Starts out a bit rough which I'm willing to forgive since the dev is pretty new at this. With that said, I noticed significant improvements between part 1 and part 2, in renders, writing, and animations.

Characters are likeable and are distinct from one another, which is always welcome.

Writing is consistent and even makes me laugh now and then

Good renders, and the story is still starting so is hard to know if its good or not. Hope in the future updates we get more choices,hope choices matter and have impact on the story and the relations with the girls, hope there is more choices to choose (instead of 2 to have 3) in the future,hope that the girls arent all slutty and hope there is more girls,can see that certain girls are for music (brooklyn,jordan,etc) and sport (paige for now that is known). The game has potential but the dev cant get lost on the story,have more choices with impact on story and relations with girls.

Absolutely wonderful game from start to finish. It has a decent amount of content, beautiful renders, cute girls, and is fantastically written. The game has branches so it allows for replay-ability and a new experience every playthrough. The girls all have unique personalities and are designed extremely well. Can't wait for more.

In its Current State i give the game an Overall: 7.1/10. I rate overalls based on 4 Weighted Categories: Story 40%, Sexual Content 25%, Renders 20%, and Character Models 15%.

Alright so i saw a screenshot of Brooke on reddit and immediately downloaded this game. Sad thing is there is barely any Brooke content, hopefully the next update will be kinder. Also the difference between the Preview i saw and the game was slightly disappointing but it seems to have improved in episode 2.

Story 8/10: The game so far was been really well written, its got an interesting premise it got the similar feel to WVM, i went the basketball route of the music route. The MC himself seems like a down to earth guy, and i honestly would hang with him. Now for other character we will start with Jalen, now i love me a Male BFF however Jalen just doesnt do it for me, his character seems just stupid. Clearly he is written to be the funny dumb best friend but he doesnt really come off as funny, more just the guy who tries to make jokes but just gets weird stares. The Chemistry between the MC and Jalen is also just not there and feels like a forced friendship just for the sake of the story. For Female Characters, none of them really gave a strong impression with the exception of June, who is a wild horny monster. Paige and Athena seem interesting, Alyssa just is a stuck up bitch who needs to get laid. Honestly i hope we get a chance to hook up with Diane or Diana, that would be nice. But like i said none of them really gave me a strong impression.

SC 6/10: So far there are only two scenes both with june, their quality is okay, the animations arent the greatest but hopefully will improve over time. Reason i gave it a 6, while the spacing between the scenes 1 per episode is good, between having both scenes with the same girl and the average quality, i was teetering between 6-7 but ultimately settled on 6

Renders 7/10: So Ep 1 renders werent all that great, they were pretty grainy compared to the previews i had scene however i grade on the latest episode and EP2 seems to have gotten rid of the grain and gave a much more clear picture.

Character Models 8/10: The MC is on the average side which is nice to see, not every Mc needs to be a perfect male model. The girls themselves are okay, their quality is good, Brooke, Alyssa, Diana, and Leslie are good, Athena is pretty as well. The rest arent all that great for me. I love seeing a Diverse and Huge Variety in the cast, so i think an 8 is a solid score.

Solid game! The renders are super clean and most of them can easily pass as a wallpaper. The characters are very likeable and memorable, love Brooklyn and Alyssa! They feel alive and believable just from a few dialogues and interactions with one another. Love the references in game, they never felt out of place. The animated transitions fucking slaps and it looked pretty smooth.

What to write about this game...
This game is fine. The writing is fine, if a tad bland, a bit boring at times, the models look fine, the renders are fine.
Everything is fine, but nothing special, nothing great. Just fine.

The story is the same as in several other games, except you seem to have the choice of going for basketball or music as your life-dream.

Most choices seem to only be between seeing a certain scene or not, you don't really miss anything else, if you just choose all this optional scenes, especially at the party. But tbh, that I actually like, I hate when games force you to miss out on content, just so you might do a replay.

While the girls are alright, the ones that I found most attractive had very little screen time, of course that's just personal taste, no reason to rate the game any better.

One thing I found weird is that the most nude skin we see in these first two chapters is the MC and his roommate, who seemingly constantly sit around without shirts or just in their briefs.

Anyway, I sort of wanted to rate this higher, because it's really not a bad game, it just has absolutely nothing extraordinary or outstanding to it.
It's just fine.

It's a slightly above average game, as such, three Stars are alright. If possible I would have gone with a 3,5, but four stars would definitely have been too much. And we have several reviews already who give the highest possible rating for the potential they think the game has, so that evens itself out that way.

I'll play the next few updates, to see if it will become more interesting.
If some of the characters I enjoy become more central to the story and you can actually get closer to them, it might become more fun.

A pretty nice VN, i enjoyed the second chapter more than the first for some reason, visually it is quite good, the models look natural, the script so far is neat, consistent and enjoyable.

Character models look great. Music could be played more often in the background. Lewd scene animations doesn't look smooth.

The story is passable. Nothing too interesting or entertaining, but it doesn't get boring. The MC's best friend is annoying and MC does spend a lot of time with him. I do like the mini-games, but it appeared only once so far. The story revolving around basketball is a lot more interesting than the one around music so far. Hope that changes in the future.

Overall, would rate it about 3.5/5. Solid effort. Keep it up, dev!

Cool game, playing the basketball route may go back and try the music route to see how it differs. The renders are good and the LIs have different personalities which is appreciated. I also like that there seems to be a route that is introspective and personal and not just let's see how many chicks I can hook up with. Interested to see where it goes as there are a number of story lines going on.

My Synopsis:
A young man and his best friend are about to join one of the nation’s best schools, the “Westview Academy”. The academy is well-known for its music curriculum and excellent sports facilities.

In Westview, you (the player) will have to make difficult choices and go through diverse situations with new acquaintances. These decisions and experiences will all depend on the path you choose.

The course of the story is significantly impacted by your decisions. How will your story go?

Renders - Models and settings are really well done; they don't resemble one another in a way that they frequently do in other VNs.

In addition, our MC has a nice flair for appearance and is very unique-looking as opposed to the more typical rather slender appearance.

Story – It is one of those AVNs that focuses a lot on the narrative. It currently concentrates on character development and world building.

I would say that I liked the manner in which the story was going, with the routes being broken off into Music or Sports. If you choose Sports, the MC already has potential; he is a shooter, but he is still considered an underdog because he's not acknowledged as the best in the sport. If you choose Music, he has a passion and interest but is just getting started and has no knowledge of it, but his best buddy is there to mentor and assist him.

Everyone has a unique personality, making it possible to tell them apart from one another beyond just how they seem. Not all developers are able to do this.

Animations – The transitions were good. It demonstrated the developer's inventiveness in switching between scenes. However, when I played, there was no "fade" element when you clicked, so it felt more like a slideshow.

For the animations in the lewd scenes, it showed promise. It's decent enough for a starting developer. I am positive that things would improve. Not even mentioning that the animations are superior to those of most AVNs available.

Sounds – Not much to say here.

Music could be heard everywhere in the first half. The most of the second half, though, wasn't.

The music stops during the first half's scenes where the female is shown from bottom to top.

Although generic, the used background music is acceptable.

UI - There was no way to hide the buttons or the textbox. That turned me off, but since it's more of a preference, I'll overlook it. However, I hope the developer includes this feature in future releases.

Grammar – It's quite good. I just saw one or two errors. I could say that the developer took time to proofread.

Dev - The developer has been open to suggestions, and as a result, changes are routinely made.

This developer shows a ton of promise and potential.

Conclusion:
I’m giving it five stars and am eager to see how the developer builds upon the solid foundation they have set for the plot as it progresses.

Renders and animations are great. Story is also interesting. It deserves more attention and support.

But player can only choose one of music or sport, which will lead to locking some paths, so player can't have a lot of interaction with all girls. It's too cruel.

For v0.1.1

The story is kinda okay but the characters seem real interesting. Even with having some kinda generic characters their backstories make them more interesting. Also there is a good diversity in the looks and types of characters, not like in most other VNs where literally any character apart from the mc looks same just with superficial differences like hair change or size. The game has a lot of potential and could be a 4+ game in the future. The reason for three stars right now is that the dialogue is lacking a little it feels like the game is trying a little too hard to make it like you. The story pacing is also very weird a lot of times. Sometimes the dialogues get a little cringey. Also the animations/transitions (like the one introducing the dorm or the metro moving one) are real bad, feel unnecessary and just pull you out of the game. But for all its dents and kinks, it is an okay game, will be looking forward to future updates.

Giving it a 5 star considering its future potential. This is a demo version not that much content. Not every girls is introduced in this demo. Some good things about the game are MC is not a big pervert looking to bang the girls. I'm into slowburn romance games seems like this games satisfy this. Animations in the game are good except the jalen's front flip in the metro. But it's ok because dev is not that experienced. Liked jalen's rap add it more in next updates too. Seems like jalen found his love of life. But she is not visualised in the game don't break his heart dev, feel free to give him a girlfriend and don't allow MC to steal/romance her because best bros don't do that

Overall it's a good start for now the game's rating is between 3 to 4 because this is basically a introduction. But game got potential looking forward to next updates

Westview Academy [Demo] Review by Tauro Thurius

Here is my take on DEMO version 1.0:

The demo here is quite short, with only one choice so far that changes the story, even if it's only in a minor way. The images are fine, and there's fairly frequent use of animations -- usually in scene transitions/intros.

There's a quick-time sequence that (at least I found) to be a bit too twitchy with its half-second window. (I found having a one-second timeout to be doable with it still being a reasonable challenge.)

There were two programming bugs I found in my play-through:

• A misspelled variable (Saint instead of saint)
• An unset variable (ch1_ClydeFight) if one chose to remain calm

There are no lewd scenes in the demo, nor are we even introduced to all the women in the game's title image. The text also (annoyingly to me) routinely fails to capitalize "I".

In my opinion, this game isn't really ready to be played, but it's not "that bad": I've rated it as average.
