that was a masterpiece of a game and art. that girl design triggered all of my kinks. 100/100. will buy a full version without thinking a second. hope to see it at least in the end of next year. really hope it will be on some sort a marketplace

Can a game with an overly dramatic asshole main character, some awful engine (please god just use renpy it's literally just a VN) and tons of random bugs, be carried by a spooky atmosphere and a very well designed ghost girl ?

Eh not really I was consistently annoyed by the technical faults and the weird writing it had in places, as well as the unlikable protagonist, then as soon as it starts to become interesting the game just kinda ends. Pretty disappointing.

As for horror it's got one of the better scary atmospheres for a game like this but it doesn't go anywhere .

I'd wait until this game is far far more complete and polished before playing it.

The game runs terribly, the main character is an irredeemable piece of shit, there's only one sex scene, it's forced/non-con, and the art is just passable.

The only saving grace in this game is the backgrounds, which are real photos,. Unfortunately, they make the cartoonishly illustrated girl a jarring sight against the real world photography, but they're all good shots so most of the time it works.

Honestly, the biggest issue I have with the game as a whole is the main character. You play as a sexist asshole who can hardly keep his dick in his pants around this little girl who evidently pisses him off just by existing. The mere action of waking up in the morning after he forcefully shouts at her is apparently arousing enough to his hoeless ass that he blames her for being a tease.

The girl doesn't exactly meet the definition of creepy, either. Being named Sadako, it's obvious who she's supposed to resemble, though I suppose making her actually look like the horror icon would've been too much, as she instead takes the form of a prepubescent pickle with long hair. The only thing about her that could be called creepy is the green skin, which honestly doesn't do much to creep you out, what with her big, doe-eyed expression she always wears.

The game blows pretty badly, and I don't think a future patch could fix it without rewriting the entire chapter.

    Edit: grammar mistakes

The art style is good and unique but the amount of H-scenes and content is minimal, and the story just isn't good. The MC is pretty insufferable but if you're into misogyny and abuse I suppose it'll be right up your alley? The first episode was better than the second and had more nudity and an actual animation. The second has literally two explicit pics and no female nudity. And it took 9 months to produce this second episode? I'm removing this from my watched/bookmark list. It's proven to be a waste of time.

The only thing good in this game is the artwork, the backgrounds is your average blurry picture and the protagonist is the biggest asshole that I've ever seen in a porn game. Worst of all there is nothing you can do about it, there is no choice whatsoever in the dialogue, you can literally hold skip and you will get to the blowjob scene, which I advise you to do because there is a lot of filler text.
The idea of the game seems to be to make you "scaroused" but the girl is just a shy and scared little girl, she doesn't do anything creepy when you are interacting with her, the only thing unsettling about her is her skin color and how skinny she is but the moment she starts talking that feeling quickly vanishes. The lack of choice in the dialogue and the protagonist always screaming and threatening the girl throws away the little suspense it was building up to that point and will probably kill whatever arousal you managed to get from the situation.

At the time this review is written, the rating is actually a 7/10, it is an average score I give to the two chapters.

Before I start, here are some disclaimers:
This is in no way an objective review...and I know no review is objective, but this one will be even more so than usual.
    Why?
Well, I am this artist's Patron, the highest of all the creators I ever pledge, and I am also on good speaking terms with the artist himself...
So yeah, I will try to be subjective, but no promises.

As the title suggests, Wet Nightmares is a VN "game" that is something in between the horror and erotic genre.
Now I won't go into a discussion about "Does VN with no interaction counts as games?"...I will rather have a discussion about how Taiwan is a country over that, if this is in the "Adult Games" section, I will count it as games.

    The premise:
You are Joseph (one thing I have to say is the game never tells you what is your name, or I simply forget. But I have to check the backlog to know), a writer with a fuck up personality who live along in a forest cabin, (like most great American writers) in presumably The United States.
One day as you are along in the woods struggling to finish your magnum opus, shit went fucky around you...
It starts with a nightmare follow by serval paranormal activities and with his self-isolation plus a completely screwed psychological clock. The protagonist is driven into borderline madness.
And at your peak panic, a mysterious girl knocks on your cabin door and plead to stay in your place for a night, and being the disturbed man with a twisted personality, you basically force her to perform sexual acts on you in exchange for her stay...while the world around you went even crazier either due to you slowly losing your mind, or it is literally haunted...

    The presentation:
The set up is full of potential, and the execution is good, initially.
Now despite many other reviews below this one has said, the horror elements are somehow cliche. But since I am not the biggest horror fan, I can appreciate it's effectiveness...and really if you come to an erotica to find the master of the horror genre, you come to the wrong place. The first nightmare part is probably the more effective one, since the VN nature means you literally can't move but to stare directly at...it, something you can't really make clear but have some creepy undertone like it is going to jumpscare you when it gets the chance.
But the rest is not as effective, sadly. Probably is because it peaks way too fast, the first nightmare is already very good, the rest is comparably tame.

Plus as I said, you don't come to an erotica to find the master of horror. So a lot of them are actually quite tame after that first nightmare. I do remember one of them is, okay spoiler alert:

    The Artstyle:
But horror is only half of this VN have to offer, what is the rest, which is probably what we actually care about?
    Well...it's good.
Like, do you expect a guy who literally pays the artist for it to say so otherwise?
The animation is rather nice, most CGs are drawn from a first-person perspective, and this girl's design...oh boy.

Before this VN even exist, there are already more than a hundred pictures of this ghost girl floating around the internet...and call me a simp or a degenerate all you want because that is why we are here isn't it?
I pledge the artist simply because I like her design.
For me, the game is secondary, it is all about this ghost girl, and always has been.

Despite how good it is, there is still serval very big flaws about them as a whole.
First of all, there are just too few of them, even after chapter two rolls out, I can still only count the amount of porn-related CG in one hand...and, on yeah, spoiler alert.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
So, yeah. The CGs have great quality, shame there is too few of them...despite I got my collection as a Patron, but I still hope there can be more of them in the actual VNs.

    The Story & Writing:
A simple premise, but rather unique in the adult game genre.
I can count the amount of adult game with horror elements on one hand, and most if not all of them boil down to monsters rape girls you control in the dark.
This one, however, puts you in the shoes of a guy that is disturbed by either his own imagination or paranormal activity around him, and since he is not really a good guy, he decides to take it on the first girl he met.

But despite the uniqueness of this setup, I can't help but think the writing fell a bit flat after chapter one...now I am no master writer, literally.
I have great tolerance for bad writing, and really nothing is badly written in this VN.
Cliche? Maybe, but it is fine on its own.
But Chapter 2 is all it went worse...now I really don't want to be too critical because I am on good terms with the artist/dev.
Even then, this chapter 2 still let me quite disappointed.
It is way shorter than Chapter one and features a shorter story and CG...plus both the horror and erotic elements fell rather short here.

Now, as a Patron, I know the dev is quite busy in October and might suffer a self-inducing crunch since he has other projects to work on.
But it doesn't excuse how little content there is in it...chapter two has some major shortcomings compared to the first chapter, there are some untranslated Spanish in the script (the artist is Mexican), the UI is screwed, and the grammar is kinda bad (although I won't complain too much about that since look at my own grammar here).
But the worst of all is the lack of CGs and story progressions.

Now he does tell me he is planning to fix it gradually and fortunately is rather cool about my complaints, unlike a certain Alex Mahan. I do make some suggestions to the dev to "recycle" his previous hundred of arts of the girl into the game to save time.
For now, all we can do is wait for it, soon™.

    In conclusion:
This is a mix bag, the first chapter shows a great premise and setup.
But despite my very biased opinion towards the artist as a whole, I can't help but feel disappointed about how this chapter 2 is.

    TL;DR
A VN feature both horror and erotic elements, with a simple premise with great potential. A fine start that features decent enough horror, a screw-up protagonist, and a mysterious girl that makes me want to simp.
Although things startup good enough in the first chapter, the second chapter fell short in comparison, lacking in many departments compare to the first.

It’s hard for me to recommend this, due to large file size and the length of the game which took me around 25-30 mins to complete.

In Wet Nightmares you play as a degenerate author that is living in a cabin in the woods. What follows is a spooky, cliché horror sequence. Instead of a monster appearing at your doorstep, it’s a girl of questionable origins, who’s mysteriously on your door step, unwillingly.

The whole H scene in this (Chapter) is good along with the animation, sound is surprisingly atmospheric as well. If you don’t like unwillingly H this isn’t for you.

Wow just wow, I am super sad that this game does not get the attention it deserves, the art style is so good and the girl is just perfect.

I am honestly baffled how people actually rate less than 4 stars on it. I know taste is subjective but wow, I saw alot of bad games here that deserve poor ratings but this is maybe not the taste for everyone but its not bad in anyway

I am a big fan of horror and this game just hit all the spots, I came for the sexy time animated ghost girl, but now I want to know more about the story and how it will turn out.

This is a game for the fans of horror and smaller girls, she is pretty skinny but still really sexy in the way she looks.

Can't wait for the next episode.

I dislike how focused the game is on the "boomer" mentality of the MC. He criticizes the girl for online dating when hes moments away from prostituting a lost girl. This game is lucky the rest of it is so hot. The dev defiantly got that down right lol I hope the following chapters come quickly!

There are a few reasons that I give this game four stars, but starting with why I decided not to go with five stars:

While the game is great, I find the game to be extremely lacking for something that supposedly, according to the introduction, has 1500 hours invested in it. I cannot see where those hours were put in because while the art, animations, and thought behind the horror are nice, they're not 1500 hours or 187 8-hour work days worth of work.

I do find everything to be either good or satisfactory. I see that a lot of the reviewers compliment the art style, and I agree. It is no question that the developer is trying to go for a specific aesthetic. Not only are there horror scenes such as flashing faces and moments of suspension, the girl herself belongs in a odd mixture of grotesque and erotic. She fits perfectly in this world the developer created.

The writing could be a little better. There are some grammatical mistakes that I was able to ignore because I didn't care as much about the story. One thing that I see people talking about is that there is too much suspense or that the suspense doesn't lead to anything. And,, I have to agree. The problem is that this game presents itself as both a horror game and an eroge. But besides a few creepy faces and one sex scene, there isn't much in this game yet to justify the level of suspense. However, I feel that this issue will resolve itself once the game develops futher (although who knows when that'll be).

Finally, the main character is also a point of criticism that I see, but I see no problem with him. Yes, he's an asshole, and yes, he treats everyone, including a lost girl, really poorly, but the story heavily implies that he is at least a serial killer, maybe worse. Add that with being an egotistical writer, and I would be a little put-off if the main character was a gentleman. In this situation, he's aware that he has all the power, so he has no reason to seduce the girl. Plus, considering the girl's appearance, how she seems to fit the guy's fantasies, and the fact that this is a horror game, I'm pretty sure this game will lead to the main character's comeuppance. Unless the developer decides to have a choice system where you can choose how to act and somehow get away with being an asshole.

TLDR: Good game, needs to be longer, needs to be more fleshed out.

I don't like to give bad reviews, there are definitely some good points here namely the music and the artwork, gives it a high-end feel except the story seems to be cluttered with a lot of useless text likely designed to build suspension.

We know too little about the MC's background and see several personalities that don't seem to be consistent. I didn't like how the MC treats a lost little girl.

Also, the core needs a lot of work. There don't seem to be a keybinding to certain functions, there is a semi-functional auto mode though but that too needs work as there seems to be no other way to activate it rather than from the menu during the intro, which is somehow not the same menu as the one you see during gameplay.

For a chapter 1 it needs a lot of work still. I do believe that this project could succeed but I'm not betting my money on it (yet). I suggest people wait it out first before starting to play this game.

This has to be some of the worst fucking writing... It really makes me not want to play it honestly. The scenes and the drawing are nice but again... The writing is just fucking awful.. Kinda wish I could play a visual novel without having to be an absolute fucking creep

This game, as others have stated is a refreshing revisit of the VN medium that is unfortunately plagued with certain systematic issues that bring down one's enjoyment .
I enjoyed the story and the horror aspects did work; I found myself get brief chills during some scenes. I found that the main character did not really work given the context of his universe, he went 0-100 immediately which was the greatest issue I had with his development; it simply was not earned and we did not get the sufficient context from his background that would presuppose this in his character. The girl was also interesting, as the story progressed she became more mysterious than menacing and I appreciated the shift.
While I did like a lot of it, I could not immerse myself in the story due to the myriad of flagrant grammatical errors in the story. Being a VN, the reader's ability to read without having to go through hoops is very important but I found myself tripping on verbose lines that did not actually say much. I can appreciate the author's attempt at wordplay and drawing a picture with words but when they come off as unwieldy and tiring it brings down the positive aspects of the story. Furthermore, there were serious pacing issues in the middle of the story, where the beginning of the story was drawn out, some scenes in the middle flew by.
This story has a lot of potential if the author can streamline the text and remove/rephrase the unnecessary propositions and conjunctions that litter the text. And while I am critical of the story systematically, I do not believe that grammatical issues are the be-all and end-all of a story and I am excited to see where it goes next.

Took so long to get anywhere, then when i actually got to the good bit it gave me an error saying "No start scene selected" Then nothing happened. The girl looks nice and would of loved to see more but the last thing i got to was her agreeing to have sex then nothing. Poorly made game, Bad engine.

The horror aspect is actually scary and good. The girls/art is honestly passable and I like it. The main character however I is a different story. He is too much of an asshole for me to not feel bad while trying to enjoy the scenes. It isnt even sadistic it is just mean. If we had more control over the main character besides just reading text only (no choices) it would make me feel more involved and enjoy the game more.

First, I wanted to congratulate Ryahn for bringing this incredible game. I recommend
Second, I’ve been following the creator’s work(And if you want, take a look at the creator’s pantreon, follow his work and you think he deserves your attention, maybe support ), it’s just very well done, the way the game holds you, the music that slowly makes you feel like you’re really in a horror game, the polished art style (one of parts that I most appreciate), the character that gives that air of mystery that you don't know how far that "aura" of her goes, and that taste of wanting more, I played from beginning to end without skipping a sentence, and really a game that you are worth playing.
Of course it is and only my opinion, feel free to say what you want.
But I recommend the game, that's for sure!

Well, there were ups and downs. As someone who actively preps for natural disasters, I actually liked the dialogue pertaining to his setup, his food and gas storage, and even all the dialogue about how cautious, if paranoid, he's being. I also enjoy playing the villain in games that I feel let me play the villain properly, though I wouldn't call this playing, more like just getting into a role.

I actually like the character in a way. He's self-absorbed, a writer with writer's block who likely sees women as tools of inspiration for his work. He's honestly a very good play on that kind of niche you would find in actual horror.

That said, I'm sad my fears came true. I had been loosely following this for months now, but only a week ago realized he was only releasing "Chapter 1" at this time. This filled me with a sense of dread, and not the good kind, as I had flashbacks to similarly paced works where the final product had a decent amount of content at best, but it was released over time in parts and each individual part felt lacking to varying degrees.

In this particular case, it feels VERY lacking. To my recollection, Erkerut had been claiming to be working on this for about several months now, at least around five. And the opening claims 1500 hours of work had been put into it. Honestly, to me it feels like Erkerut himself had writer's block. I saw little wrong with the dialogue, and it was all very good, but I personally feel like months and months of time and 1500 hours of work would have resulted in more than just this amount, almost as if he stopped working on it periodically for some length of time for one reason or another.

That said, it was very good in a lot of ways, and for receiving this for free I shouldn't feel disappointed, but I am a little bit because I was hoping I was wrong, but I wasn't. This is GREAT as a setup though, for future chapters of Wet Nightmares, and I look forward to seeing what Erkerut makes in the future.

It was refreshing to play a game that takes the time to lay a good and through backstory. That being said, the protagonist is pretty dark and stormy. The preamble went on for awhile and I only was frustrated with it because of the forced pacing of the medium. Being a fast reader is rarely a burden and the fact that I have to wait 10-15 seconds for every line of dialogue is painful.

The art is great and the premise is mysterious and not at all troupey.

Would rate 5 stars if the pacing were not so restrictive.
