Ren'Py - What a Legend! [v0.7.03] [MagicNuts]

I like this game so much! Very cool style!! I hope the developers will be fine and they will finish the job. Nowadays, it's quite difficult to find a game that can capture not only the picture, but also the plot.

Decent game, but definitely wayyy too over-hyped!

This game does well with its art and character design, but fails to deliver engagement.

Beauty is not a luxury..

I like how everything in this game is drawn, including the characters. Often times I was at awe seeing how crisp my pixels were. The air is fresh, the landscapes are vibrant, and even more so are the women. They certainly didn't hold back when designing the females that roam The Old Capital vicinity.

Okay, so, to story, or not to story...

There is some overarching story aspect in this game, which is always good, but as of right now, the plot really isn't all that strong. You can run through it pretty quickly. Seems like the devs take polls as to whether to prioritize story in the updates or, giving their favorite girl more side-quests. As you can guess, because of this the plot is significantly ignored. At this rate, I wouldn't expect the game to complete development in the next 10-years.
I would've preferred it if the devs built the game more on a proper vision than simply fan-servicing.

I like a game that can entertain me even without the porn. This has some really randomly funny characters and scenarios which make the journey a lot more fun. Like the old-man with the glasses who wants to marry his granddaughter off to the MC, the guardsman at the gate, the sleazy fat slob married man who wants to marry the old-man's granddaughter, & and the petty patrol man who lost at cards playing the guardsman of the gate.

It's funny randomness like this really goes well with art-style of the game and the overall atmosphere.

Freedom Of Choice Is A Forgotten Folk-lore In The Old Capital!

This game gives you absolutely a grand total of.. uh.. let me count... ... ... 0 real choices! I can not think of a single choice, in the entire 5.7 GB of game, that made a difference.

The choices go like this 1) Do it. 2) Don't do it. (But do it anyway.) The only differences are minor dialogue.

This is where a lot of you will start to lose interest (me too). The lack of decision making significantly makes me wanna play the game less, as it's not entertaining enough for me to simply just sit down for hours and just consume. This is not a Hollywood production, nor a K-drama.
Since your decisions don't change anything... you guessed it! You can not reject the girls in this 'game'. Even if you absolutely do not like her! Honestly being forced to get along with an unlikable character, makes me wanna get along with them even less!

Simps' Guide To Romance!

Step 1: Be harmless. Never defend yourself.
Step 2: Be a Classist. See pretty women as God's gift to humanity regardless how toxic or unimpressive she is.
Step 3: Be a nice guy who goes, significantly, out his way to help out said pretty women all the time.

This is the MC's playbook. Although I don't mind when it's used for the girls that I like myself, but ABSOLUTELY hate it when it's done for the girl I detest.
This is honestly a very lame approach to romance.

a) Player sees a pretty-girl, he tries to get to know her a bit more, then they have a journey/side-quests together, he does things for her, she does things for him; and by the end the player knows whether he likes her as a friend, lover, or nobody.

b) Player sees a pretty-girl, MC's dick gets hard. He is already sold. He goes out there makes a fool of himself in front of the girl. The girl is either really nice, or she turns out to be real toxic. The player might or, might not be impressed by the girl, but MC drools over her anyway and goes out there to move mountains regardless of how much or how little she has done for him.

The game goes with Option B for all its romances. This might work for MC, but doesn't for the player. You're expected to like a character from the start, instead of growing to like them.
Only a writer can like their characters from the start as they know what kind of person they will be.

"Well, at least, he is a pretty face..."

The main character is really one of the worst aspects of this game. His positives - pretty face, crafty.
His negatives - boring 'nice guy', scrawny, gets hard at the sight of pretty women, pushover.

I wondered few times, during my playthrough, "Why am I helping this man with his journey as his guardian angel? I really don't like him all that much."

Queens and Evil-Queens

The blondie really influenced a whole 1-star out 3, for me with this game. Perfect beauty and helping nature makes her so lovable. Other than her, I liked a few other women.
The main one I hated was the redhead. She was both a physically and verbally abusive woman. Watching her always belittle the MC was honestly really difficult to bare. Even I didn't dislike him this much. But you're expected to like her anyway. All she has shown me, is that she is a pretty girl, nothing else was worth noting. At least her grandfather is a funny old coot.
On the inside, I can only tell myself that she isn't that bad and that her abusiveness is just her love-language, but goddamn this is far more toxic than endearing!
There is also this hairy, smelly, old hag with an even worse personality who is apparently a optional love-interest in this game. Why? Who wants it? Idk. Being forced to kiss her brought down a whole half-star for me.

All is well, that ends well..

This game visual novel might be worth checking out for you, it has it's moments, especially if you don't mind the negatives. For me, it falls in B-tier catagory.

It might be nearly 5-years into development, but still isn't all that 'developed.' None the less, the game right now, still serves as a baseline to build something phenomenal. All of the issues I have listed are still fixable. The MC can mature up with character development, the choices can actually start to mean something and the romances could start being more option A than B.

***I usually don't play games like these, because I have a mommy fetish and tend to play games that has that and write my reviews with that in mind. For those that it matters to, the MC calls the character Gretta mom at one point. She is not his mom and it would be mommy kink if they went that route, but I wouldn't expect it (her story has yet to be implemented as of 0.7.03). This game is really not that type of game and I didn't take off any stars because of that. It wouldn't be fair to the game to do so.***

The game is about a young horny man with a gifted penis that is thrown into a quest to help save the kingdom. He only really cares about sex and the game is about how he stumbles his way from bed to bed that will, I assume, end in him saving the kingdom.

This game's art is stunning. From the women being drawn, to the backgrounds, the creators truly knock it out of the park. The game is an extremely light sandbox, but mostly acts as a visual novel. Your choices in the game really don't matter. You're going to get the full story regardless of the choices you make.

I played this game in it's early stages. At the time, only the first main story and Myrtle were implemented and the game was a breath of fresh air. It had what so many other games lack, which is eroticism. I really felt something in starting to win Holly's heart and the romancing of Myrtle. The writing is clever and really funny. I laughed out loud a good amount during my journey through 0.7.03. The creators have managed to balance eroticism, humor, and a compelling story all at the same time and that has to be commended.

So why the 3 star rating you might ask. I took several weeks to think about it before posting my review on this game, to let my thoughts simmer for a while. I have two minor complaints about the game and one larger one. I think the animated sex scenes in this game are lackluster. At the end of the day, this is an erotic game and I think you have to really score a win when it comes to that and they just don't. I know that it's a cartoon, but I prefer women with larger breasts to have some sag to their breasts. I'm not a fan of balloons on bodies and that's why I tend to stay away from rendered games. I know most fans prefer breasts that defy gravity and I get it, but it's not for me.

My large complaint is more complicated. When I first played the game, I noticed that the MC was kind of a weak guy, but with a go get it attitude. The eroticism and charm of the Myrtle and Holly story were worth it, regardless of him being weak. I wondered, at the time, if this might become a problem with future updates. I got the notion that this game was going to be the MC going from female to female, helping and empowering them so they could help him regain the kingdom. He's not doing this with any type of cunning, but more as a stumbling idiot. Truthfully, he'd need that help, because he's such a pathetic guy. I picked the game back up and played the Lana story, the Rose story, and the Gomira story and my original worries only grew exponentially. There was a moment in the Gomira story where I thought maybe there would be some character growth with some martial training, but that got tossed aside just as quickly as it entered the game.

I also liked this game, because it refrained from throwing blankets of text at you. I feel like you can tell a good story without needing that and this game did a great job of it... until Gomira. It's not like it's horrible storytelling, it's just too much. It could have been shortemed by at least 25% and not missed a beat. The game also lost it's eroticism with the addition of the monster girls, which I think takes away from the game.

The positives, in my opnion, still outweigh the negatives and I would tell people to give this game a go. The humor, early eroticism, and brilliant art are worth your time.

I originally was very excited for Holly, Gretta, and Rose. Now that I've played 0.7.03, I am much more excited about Holly, Myrtle, Gretta, and Simmone instead. It feels like the women that aren't super powered, lend to better
relationship dynamics and eroticism.

Well done product. The story and art are top notch. Unlike most other games I often found myself involved in the story. There are so many little things, like tiny animations on an otherwise static page. Well Done.

This is, by far, the best game of it's kind out there. The art is stunningly beautiful. The artist knows what she's doing and it shows. Every character has their own unique look and feel and the pictures are little works of art. The story is great and funny. It grows more and more ambitious, which normally is a way to gradually cut back on humor, but it isn't the case here (much appretiated). I don't even think the development time takes away from the great experience.

This game is trully a creative masterpiece. Story is fun, characters are great, funny and interesting, and trough the story and dialogue truly come to live. The style and images are quality and there is plenty to see. 5/5

What a Legend! Is a great game, the mechanics are simple with choises and a point & click gameplay, the art for the other side is pretty amazing, I played for some hours and could complete 4 or 5 routes of 8 I think, the game is fun, has good jokes and adult scenes, it's sad that it wasnt released yet but we will need to wait for new versions

My only gripe is there are just too few sex scenes. You do an hour of work for a girl for 1-2 scenes max that are very simple. I think more of a buildup for each girl would be much better (3-4 scenes each) with a few more positions and angles

First I gotta say, I'm a sucker for this game. This game was probably among the first ones of its kind that I ever played, along with Summertime Saga (just like anyone else I guess). I really love this game, because it was an absolute gold gem among many games with terrible art, terrible story or, sometimes (most times) both.

I know that people are mad about the updates taking so long, but honestly, I'm playing for free and that isn't a problem for me at all. I'd more rather it to be quicker, but, judging the fact that I'm just sitting my ass down waiting for it, there's not much I can demand. Just relax and wait. Enjoy when it comes.

So, regarding the game, let's start with a quick summary of the story.


You're an orphan that has been "adopted" by a group of nightworkers, pleasure professionals, ladies of the night. You've been raised by them until you turned 18, when, disappointed with the fact that you're getting 0 hoes, you head to the big city to try to find your luck.

Eventually you end up meeting a certain elven lady, that tells you she needs you help. Her allies has all been inprisoned by her uncle, who usurped the throne. She provide you guidance and support, as she asks for your help to set her friends free and herself free to rule again. What do you get from that? Well... what every man wants from a woman?

With that in mind, you set up a camp at the riverside of the Old Capital of the Kingdom, where you'll live your adventures, meeting many interesting ladies in your way that will need help and will be most glad to reward you for your time and efforts.

You really can't go wrong with a game where you're free to do a lot of stuff, advance the storylines of whichever lady you prefer, plus having a main storyline to follow. The game is interesting, it has a lot of dialogues, none of them feel dull or unnecessary, most of them are quite fun indeed. Nothing you do feels "pointless", like many games nowadays that just jerks you around here and there doing boring ass "filler" missions just to get a few more hours of content by the end of the day. Nah. This game is well written, well-designed and the story makes sense.

The characters arent' the simple dull poorly written "fuck me" ladies. You get to know them, each of them has their own personality and problems, each of them are interesting in their own way. You're the man, you're there to serve and help them with their problems, and, at the end of the night, bang the shit out of them (as the Lord intended).

Overall, great characters, great story, great plot, great sidequests.

One of the best aspects of the game. The map looks great, the cities and scenarios looks great. The characters also look great, and they're so characteristic that I'm sure that if the DEV decides to proceed and make another game, most people will recognize it right away.

The girls look fine, each in their own way. The scenes are mostly animated and surely also do look great. The experience is awesome.

Overall, this game is surely one of the best (if not the best) of its kind. It has everything, and the content is always expanding. It's a blessing to get to see the awesome work that the DEVs are doing. No matter if you're just getting started on the Lewd Games or if you're an avid player, this game will always be fun.

This is an excellent good game. This game really shows that even "sex games" can be games. A unique art style, nice characters, funny banter, variety of sex between different characters that also fits it.
A lot of dev can learn from them.
The little details in the background in certain places is what makes it even special and very thoughtful.
I can only say positive things about it. And those complaining about it taking long, just remember that they are also humans themself. Not only that, they are only 2 people that draw everything and program everything while also writing the dialogue.

Everything about this game is AAA quality: writing, humour, art and even the gameplay is well thought out. The dev helpfully provides a in game hint system to guide you from ever getting stuck.

The LIs are interesting and different enough to be memorable, and the overall plot seems to be going somewhere. My only beef is that the overall progression is fairly linear, so it would probably be more straightforward for player and dev to make this a VN.

Otherwise it's close to flawless, excellent game that I highly recommend.

The quality of this game is amazing, but it's been years and the content is really not that much. The problem and the reason I'm rating it so low is that it feels like the dev has gotten bored with his own game. So it's probably never going to be finished or progressed significantly.

The recent update already feels a bit...different than the rest of the game.

I'll happily go back and review this if they pick up pace again.

I've played several versions of this game so far and while yes, the time between updates is extreme, in terms of pure quality, of its art, of its writing I don't think any game comes even remotely close to this. I can truly say that there is not a single piece of content I dislike about this game.

If I were to add factors like the pace of updates I would not give this game five stars. But I've decided to only base this review on the content that's in the game itself so far and to me that deserves the highest rating.

Best Artwork ive ever seen in an adult game! Interesting storywriting and good quest design. UI looks and feels very clean. The only downside is the long update schedule, but i guess quality takes time.

Excellent. Truly the benchmark for others. Best thing I have played in a long long time.

Pros -
1. The artwork, oh the gorgeous and lovely artwork... I was truly shocked to see such work put in a Visual Novel.
2. The characters are beautiful... just beautiful to look at. All the girls have individual personalities to them and are very well drawn and written.
3. The setting is unique and never seen before. The starting is bit different and fresh take, something I rarely see in such games.
4. The lore is written so good that it puts some AAA games to shame.
5. The UI is clean and minimalistic to keep you from distracting from the screen.
6. The opening title menu is beautifully rendered and not just a static screen (thank god).
7. The map is beautiful to look at. Its not just a static screen but has some small elements added into it to give it life. Excellent work by developer.
8. The lore keep your interest till the very end. I truly did not want this game to end.
9. Multiple different quests to choose from. Gives you quite enough content to enjoy.
10. The humour presented in dialogues are very very well done. Haven't enjoyed reading this much in a while. Certainly many other side characters add so much to the story. Top notch work.

This game is truly the best this genre has to offer. The one of the very few I would rate 5/5. Perfect score. Hopefully we get to see more from the developer. Wishing him/her more success.

This game has amazing art, decent story and game mechanics, it's just crazy to me on how they dropped the ball this hard on waiting to update this game for over 2 years now.
The art in this game is so beautiful, that even with the can of basic character design, it immediately makes up for it.
The story is alright, nothing too extravagant yet, and the game mechanics are basically just point and click, but it's a light novel so not much will go on.
But the major downfall is the update speed, constant updates tell us "that it's right around the corner just a few more weeks!" then two years pass us it's been at 99% done for months, it is clear to me that this game is just milking money for the poor saps that have hope for this game, this update better have at least 10 hours of game play an amazing twist in the story and more porn in it, or it might just be called a scam from now on.
But to you the reader yes it is good for some quick fun and a quick fap or two, but don't invest in this game, I feel like the next update after this one will be even longer of a wait.

The animations, characters and story are very good. It would have been good if the game had not been left unfinished, but unfortunately. It is very successful and playable. My favorite character is the daughter of the main villain. I wish the story could have been advanced a little more from that part at least.

I adore 2dcg and i think this game is showing the best art there is. It's like an old fairy tale cartoon or book illustrations - just so cute, lovely and charming, like puppies or kittens
Main story is the same - simple, but delightful and appealing to everyone. Characters are great and their stories are deep enough. And i LOVE the absence of direct violence and the presence of really powerful moral of the story - be nice, helpful, dedicated and get the pussy! The high rating is deserved here. A lot of care clearly went into this, and especially art-wise, at same places this is on par with regular adventure games. Genuinely felt like a Daedalic game with porn and no pixel hunting at times.

Having said that, I felt like the story became a bit disjointed in the latter part game, and I generally prefered the first 2/3 or so. The game obviously isn´t complete, so I will hold judgment on how (if) that wraps up. Still there is definitely enough there to warrant a playthrough, just be prepared to be slightly dissapointed there isn´t more when it comes to certain characters (mainly the shepherd). Still, I was more than happy with my time spent.
