Reviewing v0.1
What a Legend! is likely a reference to the protagonist of the game or perhaps to the amazing journey he's about to undertake but I feel like it should be a reference to something else: HOW LEGENDARY THIS GAME IS! If the 27 other 5star reviews aren't enough to illustrate the point, nothing is. This 0.1 DEMO is far more incredible than most completed games.
The art is absolutely phenomenal and is (sort of) animated as well (it gives a handful of frames to cycle between which gives it its own unique feel). Considering the detail in the art, this is downright praiseworthy, I can't even imagine the amount of work that goes in to making such a beautiful looking game.
What impressed me the most however (and yes, the art, as amazing as it is wasn't it), was how carefully (and intelligently) this demo was crafted. Firstly, there's a substantial amount of content for a v0.1 demo. Secondly, the game feels smooth and intuitive to play. Thirdly, there is clearly a well thought out plan for the game. The polish is there, but underlying systems (such as a scene recollection system) are already in place. The creators have put serious consideration into this game before even releasing their first demo. This bodes VERY WELL for its future IMHO.
I could ramble on for several more paragraphs about how amazing this game is looking but quite frankly, you shouldn't be here ready my humble opinions but rather you should just download the demo and try it out RIGHT. THIS. SECOND.
SERIOUSLY, GO, NOW.
