What are incest patches for?

Hello, simple question.

I often see games that have the incest patch to download.

But what is the use of the incest patch precisely? I admit I don't understand?

Certain services like Patreon doesn't allow incest, so characters are referred to as Landlady instead of Mother or as Roommate instead of Sister.
That's why devs provide those "unofficial" incest-patches to change them back to Mother or Sister so their games have incestual relationships.

I hate Patreon, because it is a woke company. But I can say that they do the right thing to not allow incest content on their platform. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Companies (like Patreon) don't want to be associated with certain things. Be it for legality reasons or just company "moral" reasons. (*cough* No company is moral *cough*). So that's why game makers sometimes have to host patches for the more questionable stuff, in the form of a patch, away from bigger entities who would take their entire game down if someone snitched and said they had stuff like incest in it.
