I recently checked the "Recent Malware Infection" thread and was shocked to see several games I’ve played listed there. One of them had an infected link just four days before I downloaded it—way too close for comfort!
Overall, I feel F95 is pretty safe, but I’ve noticed more and more games I know getting targeted, which is starting to worry me. This got me thinking about how to enjoy F95 more safely.

For a while, I’ve been considering building a homelab using an old PC and hardware. I’m thinking about copying all my games onto a virtual machine hosted in Proxmox. Has anyone here tried this or already doing it? How’s the latency? (Probably irrelevant for H-games, but still curious.) How secure is hosting games in a Proxmox VM or LXC, really? I’ve read it’s not 100% bulletproof—are there any specific distros you’d recommend for this setup? Maybe something with game organization features, safety measures for containing malware, or other useful tools? Plus, it’d be super convenient to keep all my adult content separate from my "normal" gaming machine.

Are there folks here with experience in this? How many tech-savvy people are on F95? Also, I’m curious—how do uploaders and mods handle this? They deal with way more unknown files and potentially dangerous links than the average user. Any tips or insights?

I ask my mommy if I can play the game.:p:ROFLMAO:

For your technical question, the thread you've partial have read is a good first stop, even more the opening post, especially the part under guides.

For what Lerd0, Bob69 and the other uploaders do to prevent that. Well, our cat post as many bad AI games as possible, cause nobody want to infect that kind of content and our local builder post NTR games (and that BaasB post gay furry ones)...

And for real, they check them, scan them and try to see if they may have malicious content in it or not. The detailed procedure is not public, for obvious reasons.

For the rest of your questions, I let them here for others.;)

Knowledge is key, what you are doing here is a good first step but if you truly want to be more security conscience and create a safer environment then gathering as much information from different sources is your best bet.

The links provided by c3p0 are a great start but make sure to use tech / security sites too.

To start with, sites like how to geek are pretty good. You'll also find that most security / maintenance programs often come with their own forums or help section which is good for reading up on using programs, using settings correctly, current threats and often fixes or work arounds.

Here are some sites to help you keep safe too. As you read up and find which sites fit you and your needs best you will find more.

Site check will scan sites for issues

Virustotal for use with sites, files and has search.

Hope this helps

In the words of Old Gunpowderhead: "The secret for harvesting from existence the greatest fruitfulness and the greatest enjoyment is: to live dangerously! Build your cities on the slopes of Vesuvius! Send your ships into uncharted seas! Don't use any protection against malware or viruses! Be pirates and conquerors as long as you cannot be rulers and possessors, you seekers of porn! Soon the age will be past when you could be content to live hidden behind firewalls like shy incels! At long last the search for porn will reach out for its due: — it will want to rule and possess, and you with it!"

SandBoxie is the best answer for Windows. Free (unless you want the "+" version), light, relatively easy to use, and already strong with its default configuration.
Cherry on the cake, you can define more than one sandbox, each one having its configuration. Therefore you can have one for your general use software (browser by example) with the access to internet enable, and one for the porn games, with access to internet disabled.
