What do you think about TyranoBuilder?

I was just talking to my best friend ChatGPT, and it told me about TyranoBuilder. It seems much simpler compared to Ren'Py. It mentioned that you can create games without needing any coding knowledge, although you can still use code if you want. What are your thoughts on TyranoBuilder? Do you think it’s worth using, or should one insist on Ren'Py? What are its advantages and disadvantages? I often come across games made with Ren'Py, but I only heard about TyranoBuilder today.

Tyranobuilder is easier for sure, but it comes at a cost. TB often suffers from issues and glitches, especially with larger projects. It also doesn't have as big of a support in regards to supported platforms, and the community and documentation is limited.

Ren-py might seem scary, but it's the easier choice in the long run. Also, Ren'py has a huge community and Python is probably the easiest programming language you'll ever use.

In short, I'd only use TB if you are doing a small project, and also to help get you familiarized with the whole "setting up a VN in an engine" thing.

Best of luck.

I'm not grumpy, I'm just coded that way.

It's also more limited in terms of features/capabilities, less often updated and therefore it can easily be out of date for this or that, and there's the fact that it's not free.
All this for a result that will be less appealing than Ren'Py games. The whole game will mostly feel like a Ren'Py game, so those who don't like Ren'Py games will not like it, this while there will be no rollback, nor console or possibility to have a mod, what will make many Ren'Py addicts not wanting to play it.

Not that Tyrano Builder is a bad game engine, but between what Ren'Py became, the many VN frameworks for Unity, and VN maker, it's now fully obsolete.
